The Golf Club at Margaritaville Lake Resort, Lake Conroe
Played On 06/11/2023Mud flaps required
Track is the same thin grass fairways and mixed grass greens. Layout is great with exception of a bunch of trees that need trimming along fairways on front 9. Back 9 is more accessible and much more fun than front but the greens are worse than the front. It rained the night before so every bunker was a free drop from the pond of water in each. Cart paths were covered in standing water or a mud slide. Had to wash my bag when I got home. Staff as always laid back and friendly. Wish the had a menu listing over the bar showing what is available. This course could be so much more if it had a little love and money put back into it.
If JB corp wants a two year course improvement plan give me a call. Have chainsaw for step one. Grass in fairways step two, fix bunker drainage, remove and replace greens with 1 type of grass, cart path renovation. For the time being get a cement mixer put sand fertilizer and grass seed together and fill your divot dispensers on the cart with mixture so players can start reseeding the fairways while they play.

Played On 02/18/2023Cart girl scam
Course in normal winter conditions. Bunkers still hard as a rock and not raked. Cart girl gave me a Powerade & snickers bar. Said it was $7.50 so I gave her a $20. She said she didn’t have change so I told her that’s ok bring it by next time you come round. The next time she came around she drove past me when I was hitting to the green that was the last time I saw her. Guess she thought $13.50 was her tip. First time I’ve seen this cart girl but I’ll be talking to her if I see her again she owes me a couple drinks.

Played On 02/12/2023Wet winter conditions
Staff always nice, course is wet and winter conditions are the same as 80% of the public courses in SE Texas this time of year. Front 9 still the teeth of the course. Back 9 opens up for a more relaxed finish. Bunkers were hard except where someone walked or dug their feet in and didn’t rake. Not fun to get out of. Like chipping off hard pan and trying to get the ball to check, not fun. Other wise pace of play was a non issue and limited to how long it took to hole out. No one to wait on and no one pushing us. Usually happens when playing on a 39 degree clear day.

Played On 04/24/2022Attention Please
As in Tee box, fairways, bunkers, cart paths, and greens in need of some major attention. Is a fun layout and perfect for beginners but definitely is not resort quality golf. If you don’t care about scoring it is a bare minimum (as in bare or minimum grass) to play on.

Played On 04/14/2022Best greens in Houston
Always a fun track with the best greens in Houston. I wish I had something bad to post so I can get on the tee more often but just can’t do it. All three 9 hole layouts are fun. Range is somewhat small but more than adequate to warm up on. It will be your loss and my gain if you don’t scoop up a hot deal to play here. It’s well worth a drive to try if your in Houston area.

The course is very soggy from all the rain we’ve had over the last couple weeks. The main lake is out of its banks. Lift clean and place mandatory. The nice new sand they spent so much time and money redoing last year has all literally went down the drain. Sad. I know they worked hard to get the bunkers right. Greens are in good shape.
Overall still fun to play. Can’t beat the weekday hot deal price on GN.

Fast greens but not too fast. Great fun courses (3-9hole layout). At 103 heat index hydration is a must.
Thank you for your review, Brokengolfer007. We will pass along your positive experience to our team at Panorama Golf Club - Rolling Hills Course. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Played On 03/29/2021Nice improvements
Course is in great early spring condition. Front 9 greens are bumpy in need of sanding. You can tell there is a lot of 9 hole play. The back 9 complete opposite of front. Greens were very good just tad slow. The bunkers need even out. The sides of the bunkers have plenty sand and the bottoms have little. I hit liner on #2&3 fairway and #4 green side. Normally I would never reach the bunkers but the fairways are so hard the ball would roll an extra 20 yards.
Glad to see the driveway has most of the holes filled in and the beginning of a clubhouse is being constructed. Great improvement from last time I played. Can’t wait to smell tacos cooking coming up #9 again. Mmm getting hungry just thinking about it.

Played On 01/26/2021Some bare spots
COVID-19 guidelines being adhered to. Course in fair winter conditions. Bunch of bare spots on fairways. Greens running little slow. Cart girl came around once per 9. Since no water on course she’s a welcoming sight. Only got to 12 holes before my back locked up but 12 is better then 0.

Excellent and I mean excellent job renovating the course. Great job & great job maintaining it. I’ve played this course since 97 so I know what it use to look like & how poorly it drained after a rain. Could not believe the course was 90 degrees after the downpours the previous day. Bunkers and most fairways were completely drained and mostly dry. Amazing. Now please fix the driveway and parking lot because nothing has changed in that area since 97. If you’re going to knock down an existing clubhouse please show the course some love and erect a replacement that you can gain some income from for weddings, special events, and taco Thursdays. No one wants to hold any type of tournament out of a trailer. Please this is Texas not New York. We don’t hold tournaments or quinceaneras out of a trailer with port a potty’s next to it.

Played On 01/05/2021Slow play
Start time was 11:30.am Finished 18 holes 4:15 pm. Course was in ok condition for winter. Greens were good speed except for hole 7 on point course. Too fast for the hole placement. 6 holes were cart path only. Cart was dirty. I wiped down myself. No water on course but the cart girl made it around twice per 9 holes of play. The group in front of us was 1 hole behind on front 9. 2 holes behind on back 9. Marshall should have made those Sr move.

Played On 12/01/2020Great fast greens
Fun course but the leaf mulching equipment must be broken. Last year this time the leaves in the rough would have been cleaned up making offline shots easier to find. Today if you hit one in the rough good luck finding your ball within the allotted 3 min search time. The greens however are the fastest in Houston area. Took about 5 holes of 3 putts before I was able to regulate my speed. Pace of play was great. No one waiting that I seen. Not a lot of people on the course at the time we started. Staff was friendly. Carts were clean. Was surprised to see the holes on the greens were normal. No upside down cups or noodles in the holes. Bunkers all had raked and there was water on the course. All the Covid precautions with the exception of plexiglass in front of cashier was lifted.

Played On 10/13/2020Entrance sign missing
Was late to my tee time as the counter person so reminded me. I drove past the entrance because the big sign out front of the woodland entrance was no longer there. Other then that course is in great shape as long as you’re not in the rough. US open penal rough. Swing as hard as you can and only move the ball 20 feet penal. I felt like Rory chopping into the lake in front of 18 green. Still as much fun as my broken back would allow. I think everyone should play this course.
Hello and thank you for your 5-star rating, Brokengolfer69! We're delighted you enjoyed your round. Please book another round with us soon, and thanks for choosing Tour 18 Houston!

Course in great shape greens rolling true and fast. Not as fast as they can make them though. I only had 1 three putt all day. So to all those complainers they slowed them down. I am ready for December golf already after a 96 degree day with a 100 degree heat index. Come on it’s May not July. It’s going to be a hot summer for golf in Conroe. Thank goodness the cart girl is fast. Seen her 5 times in 18 holes. She’s a keeper.

The Golf Club at Texas A&M
Played On 05/19/2020Much improved
Looks like all the rain we’ve had recently has done world of good for course. Some bare spots have filled in. There is still quite a few that need attention. Look like someone finally did some maintenance on the bunkers. I could hit out of them without breaking my wrist in a liner. Layout is fun and looks like maintenance is trying now. I think it is coming around nicely. Keep it up. At least the course is now in shape that driving an hr and a half is worth the trip. Greens were punched but still rolled smooth but just a little slow.

Played On 05/05/2020Spring green
Course is growing and greening up nicely. They need to hire someone to drive around a maintenance truck full of sand to repair the divots no one is filling in because of the virus restrictions. The greens were aerated so Sandy & bumpy but still faster then 80% of public play courses in Houston area. The club house, maintenance and cart crew doing great job trying to keep everyone safe. Keep up the hard work and thank you for providing a reprieve from this crazy time. Special thanks to the cart girl who made it around to us 5 times in 18 holes. On a 90+ degree day with no water stations on the course, she was doing great job keeping us hydrated.

The course has a great layout. Fairways in decent shape. Few bald spots here and there. Bunkers every one of them are washed out. Those are going to take Complete renovations like the resort. Greens with the exception of some hairy grass roll nicely. Tee boxes getting better. Cart path...well there like the bunkers. Still will be my Sunday course when momma lets me out of isolation from the virus.

Played On 04/21/2020Greens punched
Course is in good condition but greens are punched. Scheduled through GN for what I thought was good rate until I got to course & had to pay cart fee. Get your readers out and read fine print when booking. Course layout is confusing. They need signs with arrows to get you around. Otherwise it’s golf in the country. Definitely better than no golf.

Played On 04/20/2020Getting better
The course is getting in better condition. Still has few bare spots on the fairways and greens but grass finally filling in. Tee boxes need some work. Can twist an ankle on some of the divots since there is no sand issued due to virus. Cart girl made it around to us once on the front 9 and 3 times on the back 9 so we could stay hydrated. Overall fun day even though it was CPO because of the drenching we got yesterday.

Course is in good shape. You do have to play around maint crews redoing bunkers. Everything handled outdoors due to virus protection.
