Rosewood Lakes Golf Course
Played On 08/26/2014Wetlands, wet fairways and giant tullies
The driving range here is great. You can get a large bucket and a draft beer for$10. The course however is a disaster. Mosquito infested wetlands, puddles of water that smells like sewage in the middle of the fairways, and tullies so tall you can't see the fairway or pin when you tee off on a number of holes. For $30 its not worth it. What a shame.
Old Brockway Golf Course
Played On 08/14/2014Great course!
This was my second time playing here and it was great. The course is simple, but not boring and the grass is always the best in the area. The staff members are always super friendly and treat you so much better than the course down the road in Truckee, Ponderosa. Don't get me started about that horrible place. Just read the reviews if you want to know. Play here and support Old Brockway. They are running a top notch 9 hole golf course.
Ponderosa Golf Course
Played On 08/10/2014Thick fairways and lack of customer service
Second time playing this course. 4 of us played the first 9 in two hours and felt like we were playing fast. We passed a single and had no one behind us. Well she. We reached the clubhouse and were getting ready to play the second 9, the manager opened his office window and yelled, "2 hours to play nine is too slow. This is a fast pace course. Your pace is unacceptable." If he would have walked out and talked to us calmly, it would not have bothered me so much. Instead he chewed us out and was flat out rude. If you are considering this course don't. Go to Old Brockway in Kings Beach. Better priced, better customer service and better course conditions.
Sunridge Golf Club
Played On 07/13/2014Awesome design, rough fairways
The layout of this course is amazing. Very challenging, lots of elevation changes and lots of water. The only negative is the condition of the fairways. It was like playing at Kiley Ranch in Spanish Springs. Hard in some area and very muddy in others. I wouldn't say all 18 were in bad conditions. Just 1/3 of the holes. Overall I really liked the course. Very friendly staff and fairly quick play. Oh and there were a few holes where we had to walk up a steep flight of stairs. Might not be great for some seniors.
Dayton Valley Golf Club
Played On 07/07/2014Great course horrible customer service
This was my first time playing this course. I live in Reno and average two-three rounds if golf a week. This day started off on a negative. The person working the counter in the tour shop was very unfriendly and what my friends described as rude. He answered our questions with "yeah" "yep" "nope" and with this stuck-up look on his face. I was really excited about this course. Its challenging and the conditions were great. However, everone in our group was so bothered by the tour shop's employee that we all agreed after the first hole that we wouldn't be back. I'd rather take my clubs to Wolf Run or Arrow Creek and be treated like my business matters.
Wolf Run Golf Club
Played On 06/08/2014Wolfrun on a 90 degree day
Wolfrun is a great course located in south Reno. First time playing the course was very challenging. It was 90 degrees out, but with a cart and several bottles of water, my group seemed to be handling the heat well. The light wind and shade from trees also helped. I enjoyed the front nine more than the back nine. More challenging than the extremely thick rough, was the amount of woodchucks on every hole. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that outside drinks were not allowed.
