Blythe Golf Course
Played On 01/03/2016A little gem in Blythe
I'm lucky to be able to play golf all over the world. This layout was very enjoyable. It's not tricky except for the tilt of holes 3 and 4, which was crazy but fun. Some greens ran crazy fast but we played with a couple who knew the roll. Everyone out there knows how to play proper pace. Fairways playable, rough dormant as you'd expect in January. Back 9 much friendlier til you face a 200 yard shot over a lake on 16 or the 18th, a par 3, 210 up a hill. Great stuff. We'll be back on our way to Arizona.

Great course except that Mr Nicklaus lost control in the green design. Typical green has less than 30% puttable area. Everyone commented that a few greens like a miniature golf course is cute, but 18 is over the top.

This is a tight course and with the fairway grass dormant and the fairways running, you can land in the middle of the fairway but end up where the sun don't shine. On the other hand, you can drive par 4s if it runs well. My wife loves to play here since the forward tees are truly forward. I love the tips because the tee shots are so demanding. Right now the lies are so tight that every shot is a test. We played mid day Monday so we played sub 4 hours with no problem. Final 4 holes are really fun with beautiful vistas. It's worth the trip. I'm sure the course is struggling but i believe it needs to be supported. A unique round. Enjoy.
Thank you for the feedback from your recent round at The Golf Club at Dove Mountain. We are sorry to hear our green designs did not meet your expectations. Hopefully you will give us another shot sometime in the near future. Thanks!
