Banty's Roost Golf and Country Club - Blue/Red
Played On 06/17/2018Terrible conditions and total lack of service
My friends and I decided to play a round on Father’s Day and decided on Banty’s Roost. It was a fairly hot and humid day so we would expect to see the cart girl out on the course. We did not see her once. And when we asked about it at the club house. The server said “well you’re seeing her now” pointing at her at the clubhouse. We asked if we would see her out on the white course as we were going to start there next. She said “for sure”. Did not see her once.
As for the pace of play, we started the front 9 on the Blue course. It took us almost 2hrs to play 4 holes. Waiting about 20mins at each tee box. Again like the cart girl, the course Marshall was nowhere in site. I called the pro shop and was told he was out there. Well apparently not on the blue course nor did we see him at all on the white course as well. We actually just left the blue course after 4 holes and headed over to the white course as we were told it was open.
Needless to say, I would steer clear of this course. So many other course at the same price point that has way better service and condition. Btw. I would have given the course and zero rating on course condition but the greens were in decent shape. I would not recommend this course to anyone.
Silver Lakes Golf & Country Club

Pheasant Run Golf Club - Highlands
Played On 09/05/2013Friendly staff
First thing you will notice is the friendliness if the staff there. Kaneff course staffs, you can learn something from these guys. Overall the course is well maintained with the exception of #5 (double green) on Highlands. Staff mentioned they had issues prior to start of round. Course is well layed out. Played from the blue deck and it was the right length for anyone that can hit the ball 270+. By jets in fairways are placed strategically so you will get into trouble if you can't shape the ball. Fade wight the driver seems to work for most of the holes.
Overall for my first time there, I was very impressed and will be returning soon
Lakeridge Links Golf Course
Played On 09/03/2013What a way to start the round.
Both my buddy and I are fairly good golfers with around a 10 handicap. We've played at many courses including Lakeridge before so we know the routine and speech of the starter well. But at this course on this particular day, the starter must be new or a real you know what.
We approach the first tee and handed him out receipts. He asked what deck we are playing from. We said the back tees. Then he said "are you sure? It's windy today". We said yes we are sure. Then he said. Okay, I expect you guys to be back tome 3rd hole in less than 20 minutes and make the turn in less than 2 hrs. And if you have any issues on the course you let the Marshall know as he points at the guy. Lets just say we were a twosome and we were held up all round by a slow group ahead of us and we never saw the Marshall once.
I will never return to this course again. As a grown man, I do not need to be lectured on the pace of play nor do I need to be told which deck to tee off from. I mean I understand pace of play is important but present the information a little better to the gOlfers.
May have been the same marshall that we got yeaterday. He had us paired with 2 groups. He couldn't figure out which twosome we were supposed to play with.
As for your issue I agree. He has no right to tell anyone where they should play from. We had a an issue with the clubhouse staff yesterday. There were no range balls left so the clubhouse guy tells us to head over to the range and he would send a guy over with a few buckets. Nobody came even though I called 15 minutes in "to remind him":. Made us wait at the range for 30 minutes and nobody showed up.
Nice course but their staff needs serious re-training, including the manager who didn't seem to give a rip.
Indian Wells Golf Club
Played On 08/25/2013Lots of gimmicky holes
If you like hitting the driver, this is not be course for you. Especially if you hit he driver over 260 yards. I'm a 12 handicap and hit the ball off the tee about 270+ and I find myself hitting a lot of long irons and hybrids off the tee. Course plays shorter than indicated as you can cut te doglegs with your drives.
Fairways are hard so expect lots of roll. Greens are huge. Tee boxes needs to be cut shorter. Felt like I was playing in 2nd cut off the fairway on some of the tee boxes. I would book again if I'm able to get it for under $60 on weekends. Anymore and I don't feel it's worth it.
Whirlpool Golf Course
Played On 07/26/2013Good value but needs little work
Overall good course. Tee boxes needs a bit of work as it is quite uneven.
Mill Run Golf Club - Championship Grist/Wheel Course
Played On 06/26/2013Don't walk this course
Although I took a cart which died on me on the 5th hole of the Grind Course. Course layout is a bit all over the place. You can tell it was a 18 hole course which they insert another 9 into it to make it 27 holes. I highly recommend taking a cart. Walking is to an option here. Especially if you are playing The Grind portion of the course. Some holes are over 500 meters apart from green to tee. Overall the greens are nice but tee boxes are in terrible shape.
Thanks for the comments Jack. Appreciate you coming to Silver Lakes Golf & Conference Centre for a visit. Hope that you are up to see us again soon!
