Tenison Park Golf Club - Tenison Glen Course
Played On 08/22/2015Good course for beginners
The Glen can be good and bad, just depends on the time of the year. i played it today because the sister course was full. The Glen gets less attention than the Highland and the pace of place can be very fast, I have played through the week in less that 3 hours riding. This course starts out with 2 par 5's in a row. The second one is very tight with water to the right. Take my word, don't go for it in two unless your really good. Most of the par 3's have water you have to fly. This is also a very tight course, shot making is the key for a good score. sometimes they let the rough get high and just finding your ball can be hard. they course have tons of trees on both sides or a creek on one side on more than half the holes. If I were a beginner I would start on this course, it will make you hit the ball straight or it's going to be a long day for you, so take a lot of balls with you.
Bridges - The Masters at Firewheel Golf of Garland
Played On 07/15/2015great shape
This is one of the better or the best public course in Dallas. the fairways are always in great shape and so are the greens. This course is not for the beginner. it has many challenges such as bunkers and water. it does require good shot making.
Just a couple of bad things about this course, slow play and a lot of people ( locales ) consider this their private course, but it is not, it is a public course, in fact it is the best of 3 courses that Freewheel offers. Has a good driving range and GPS on the carts with a club washer. The price for this course is very reasonable, if your over 60 the price is very good. If you like to play golf on a great public course, this is the place for you.
Cedar Crest Golf Course

This course is old and can really fool you. Shot making is key on more that half of these holds. They had the PGA Championship here in the 50s and I can see why. You have a lot of left to right shots, long shots and plenty of trees to deal with. most of the hole have elevated greens with some sand traps. this is not a place for beginners, you will just hold up play for everyone. Let time i was there is the fairways and greens were in very good shape. but as always Dallas summers can be hard on any golf course. This course is not in the best part of Dallas, but it is well worth going there is you really like a challenge. i really like this course and it plays fast most of the time.
Tenison Park Golf Club - Tenison Highlands Course
Played On 07/07/2015OK, course
i have played this course many time. it is not for the beginner, it does have challenging holes and does require some shot making on a few holes. It could use more TLC in the summer months, But what course can't in the Heat of Dallas. The play is slow even through the week, most people play this course over the older one. It is also a little pricey. there are a few bunkers and water. also a few tight fairways.
Luna Vista Golf Course
Played On 02/02/2015Good Course
This course was re-done and has really improved since then. but let's be honest, no matter what course you play in Dallas, Texas from June to September, the ground is going to be hard even if it has green grass on the fairways. This is a pretty straight forward course and is great for people who don't like that much of a challenge. The course has plenty of shade trees to hide from the Texas sun in the hot time of the year. The play is pretty much at a steady pace the 5 or 6 times I have played there this year. Over all this is a pretty good golf course.
