Waterlefe Golf & River Club
Played On 11/08/2023Lots of renewal at Waterlefe
If you like very firm fast near perfect greens you are in luck.everything else is just as nice but the greens were like playing at home after rolling the greens for a tourney.
The other renewal is the clubhouse is nearly gutted and being updated
So after the round we sat outside under a canopy which was a just perfect solution to the remodel.
Unfortunately the noseeums won out last evening. By 530pm they were horrible. Literally ruined a great day there.
Heron Creek Golf and Country Club - Oaks/Marsh Course
Played On 05/06/2023Staff are excellent
The staff set the standards here. Friendly helpfull as all get out and thats just the staff at the bag drop. Every one else was just as good..
So you have a great attitude before you peg a tee.
The Groves Golf Course
Played On 03/03/2023A windy round
Played in 30 mph winds. To score u need to hit greens. We did not. But it was a great warm up for our week in sarasota. Condition of greens were fine, pace of play was what was expected.
Palmer at Saddlebrook Golf & Tennis Resort
Played On 01/05/2023The greens were very good
The tee boxes were kong from overseeding i believe, other than that small blemish, the Palmer course was in better condition than 3 others we played this week. None had greens that rolled so smoothly.
The Highlands Golf Course
Played On 11/07/2023Back for more
We have been playing the meadows courses for at least 25 years. The highlands was always a favorite. Then about 8 years ago the slide down began. 2 years ago I thought ill never play here again. Last year I thought well maybe its heading up.
Playing today the front nine was definately better. Greens were overseeded so a bit shaggy to start. But nothing you couldn't tolerate.
All in all it was such a better experiance we will play again before heading g north next week
Rosedale Golf & Country Club
Played On 11/12/2021Fun and tight layout
Rosedale is a nice track, the conditions were very good. Pace of play was 4 hours and the course was pretty full. Waited on a few shots, for early season on a Friday afternoon it was fine.
Course has tees for just about any level. Staff treated us very well. No GPS on carts which is just fine with me. Yardages are marked fine.
10 & 19 at University Park Country Club
Played On 03/28/2021Great course
Greens were in great condition as were tees and fairways. Overall I might have rated it a 5 except I hate 90 degree cart rules on a very dry course. Cart gps wanted to remind you of the 90 degree rule even when you were driving on the cart path I believe 5 times. There are many substantial sand bunker complexes and if you didnt know exactly where your ball was in the fairway and chose to enter the fairway at the wrong spot the gps would remind you about the 90 degree rule. Sorry but for a 100 dollar round I can do without the nanny reminder so often.
Pace of play for a Sunday was fine. It is a nice course .
Rosedale Golf & Country Club
Played On 03/11/2021Tight but fair
No tricks here, only went ahead of our balls a couple of times to scope out what we couldnt see.
Overall the course is is in very good condition. Greens are good and not overly fast, just a nice speed. Rolled very true. Sand is top notch. Wish it could be raked. Blue trees were good. No issues.
The Highlands Golf Course
Played On 03/05/2021Fun Layout but Greens in need of some work
Played here many times in the past 30 years, this was the poorest i have ever seen the greens. Not sure what happened to them but numerous places on individual greens where there were bare spots. Some showed signs of re-sodding so you know it had to be bad.
after the round we stopped at Centre Court and another group beside us was discussing the same topic..
Do not want to knock the Greenskeeper's, as I have seen fungus and other issues happen at really expensive courses as well. Just don't want others to expect perfect greens.
The Highlands Golf Course
Played On 02/29/2020Highlands 25 years later
We have played the Highlands many times over the past 25 years. All in all the course is in pretty good shape except for about 3 holes were the greens were subject to some dry and worn areas. Number 9 is still a mystery on the proper way to play it.
It is still a very good value.
We will play it 2 times this week over our favorite course which is now 100 to 120 a round..
Quail Ridge Golf Club
Played On 08/25/2019Nice layout, needs some TLC
Our pace if play was 3 hours on a Sunday for a twosome. Had a 4some on our heels most of the way. So even as a 4 some speed was good.
Hoped to have breakfast. But the grill wasnt staffed at 8am, nor was a cook a available at 1030 on the turn. Minor issue.
Ballmarks on greens were more of an issue. Beautiful greens with so many ball Mark's that werent repaired it was sad. Cannot blame the course for that. Practice area was sorely lacking of grass to hit from as it was full of divots. Overall this should be a 5 not a 4 course.
Lakewood National Golf Club - Commander Course
Played On 05/26/2019Great layout, great practice area
Have been paired up with members 3 times at Lakewood National. The members always were friendly, helpful and a pleasure to be paired with.
Practice area is very nice, from the driving range to the short game area to the putting greens.
Greens are very firm, supposedly 11 on stimp, certainly faster than most places. Greens are pretty hard, but no ball marks and putt very smoothly. All in all a great place to play.
Waterlefe Golf & River Club
Played On 12/06/2018Waterlefe with Sunand very little wind
Staff was very friendly, and pleasant.
Course was in very good condition, nicest sand of the last four courses we played. Tee to green well manicured, greens had nice speed. Unfortunately golfers in front of us didnt. While it was a 4:30 round the scenery off set the slow play.
Sarasota National Golf Club
Played On 12/05/2018Sarasota in the wind
Course has very generous landing areas.
Greens were firm but speed was on the medium level, maybe stimp 9.
Few ball Mark's, greens rolled nicely.
Tough hitting a 185 club into a 145 distance! That was how strong the wind was at times.
Pace of play was dead on 4 hours. Players behind us wanted to do it in3:30 and hit into us 3 times. Ranger fixed that! Overall nice experiance.
The Highlands Golf Course
Played On 11/07/2015Nice challenging layout
Pace of play was exactly 4 hours for us on a Saturday. The greens were much better this visit than last year. From the whites this is a relatively short course that can sneak up on you with any errant tee shots. Decent bunkering through the layout and enough water to keep you focused.
From the reds the gals have a lot of second shot approaches that are close enough that they hit mostly same clubs the guys hit. My wife calls it gal friendly.
The Quarry Golf Course
Played On 03/13/2015Unique, and worth the fee
The practice range was irons only, so no warm up with the metals happened. The first nine is outside of the quarry and has ample water, dog legs and trapping to keep you thinking on every shot.
Once you enter the quarry the water, dog legs and trapping continues, but now you are challenged by the depth perception issues of being inside a large quarry. While not in the class of Bay Harbour in Petoskey, Michigan it was a very enjoyable tract.
Your feedback is important to us, myoung10. Thank you for sharing your 5-star experience. We look forward to seeing you again at the course soon! Thanks for choosing Heron Creek Golf and Country Club - Marsh/Creek Course.
