Foothills Golf Club
Played On 11/25/2017Nice layout, enjoyed the round very much
My son and I like to explore the valley and try different courses. Picked this one and enjoyed the course very much. Traditional desert course, keep it in the fairway, stay out of the rough and desert. The rough was short but very gnarly to hit out of. Course was overseed about 2 weeks before, but fairways were in good shape. Practice green was super slow, but the course greens rolled good and were average speed, not lightning fast for sure.
Club West Golf Club
Played On 03/04/2017Very enjoyable round
Really nice course, quite an interesting layout, some blind shots at times which required us to go forward to see where we were going. Greens were hard and moderate speed, we over read the break all day, but puts rolled very true. Fairways were cut tight, and the outer edges had lost grass where it should have been and was just bare dirt. We did not play off of the hard dirt areas considering them ground under repair. Lots of desert challenges if you don't put the ball in the fairway. Traps had some small rocks mixed in with the sand. All in all, a very enjoyable day, beautiful weather, will certainly play again.
The Legacy Golf Club
Played On 05/27/2016Nice course, will play it again
Pleasantly surprised with the quality of the course, extremely nice fast greens. This entire resort appears to be a nice destination. I like to explore and play different courses around the valley, and this one will definitely be on my keeper list to play again. Really enjoyed the day, my son and I got paired up with a couple of U of A guys that played from the tips and knocked the cover off of the ball!!
SunRidge Canyon Golf Club
Played On 04/01/2016Enjoyed the day
Sun Ridge has always been a nice difficult course. My buddy an I got paired up with a father son twosome, the young kid had no interest in playing golf, but Dad was dragging him around with him and they slowed us down, although the pace of play overall was slow. This course is not a course for beginners, it is way too difficult.
Folks, let your kids be kids and enjoy spring break in the desert and splash around at the hotel pool!!!
Palm at McCormick Ranch Golf Club
Played On 11/11/2015Nice day at the Ranch!!
Excellent value, played on Veterans day with my son, and got pair up with a couple of guys from Canada, and we had a blast playing as a foursome. Pace of play was excellent for a holiday, we didn't have to wait on any shot, played in about 4 hours. Greens were a little fuzzy and slow following overseed, but were in good shape and rolled true, just needed to swing a little harder. This course is always a good, enjoyable course, close to home, and in good shape.
Encanto Golf Course
Played On 02/16/2015Nice city course
Looked around to find a course with good reviews at a value price and found it here. Played on a holiday so expected slow play and it was, 5 hour round, teed off at 1:15 and finished as the sun went down at 6:15. My son and I got paired up with a wonderful couple from Calgary and we had a great time with them. Course condition was very nice, fairways were thick and green, medium pace greens which rolled pretty good. We will play this course again.
Power Ranch Golf Club
Played On 11/11/2014Super slow greens
Enjoyed playing the course, obviously not a great time of the year to play following overseeding which meant carts on the path. Lots of walking to get to the ball which resulted in slower play. Groups in front of us were super slow. I enjoy walking and find golf more enjoyable that way, but I hate slow play and people dicking around in front of us.
Due to overseed, the greens were super slow, not just slow, but ridiculously slow. Couldn't hit the ball hard enough on an uphill putt, and left downhillers short, like putting with a velcro ball. No excuse for being that slow, even after overseed.
Verde River Golf & Social Club
Played On 02/14/2014Beautiful Views but.....
Played 3 years ago and thought I would give it another shot. Not much has changed, no clubhouse, carts are poor quality, practice greens terrible and of no comparison to course greens. Way too expensive for the quality of the course and no amenities. Won't be going back.
Red Mountain Ranch Country Club
Played On 2/27/2013Can't wait to play it again!!
Played on a beautiful February day with temp in the high 60's and slight breeze. Nice facilities and great customer service. Starter was very informative and friendly. Don't be fooled by the yardage, the slope for this course is pretty high. You don't need long drives, but you do need accurate drives. Landing zones are fairly tight and you need to know the hole layouts to get approach shots to the green from the correct location in fairway. Greens are often elevated and well guarded with bunkers and we had some killer pin positions. Greens are consistent and fast with lots of break, you have to be able to read the greens properly and manage your distance, or 3 putts will be frequent. Beautiful views of mountains and the valley. Loved the course, certainly on my top 10 list for the east side.
Quintero Golf Club
Played On 1/21/2013Beautiful course layout and worth the drive out!
This course is cut into the desert with wonderful views and challenging holes. The slope is very high but with multiple tees and combos, it can fit many skill levels. The layout of each hole is pretty visible from the tee, no blind shots. Honestly, the tee shot is generally not difficult, the high slope is due to the green location, elevation change, and generous bunkers that gobble up golf balls from the surrounding terrain, the bunkers reach out much further than their actual size, so steer clear. The greens were pretty fast and had some yellow color due to the 5 days of frost a couple of weeks before. This is on my play it again list!!
Grand Oak Golf Club
Played On 8/29/2012Great course, best kept secret in Cincinnati area!!
Grand Oak is a tough, demanding course, you will use every club in your bag. Requires precise target shots to be in the right position for your next shot. Driving the ball on par 5 #11 is as good as it gets with a fabulous view, easy to reach in 2 with a good tee shot. The club pro Mark is a great guy, the most friendly clubhouse in the area. Well worth the drive into Indiana to play.
