Interesting layout making good use of water, bunkers, trees, and manmade rolling berms. Greens rolled true and fast. For the dry season, this course had pretty lush grass. Glad I finally played here and will be back.

This is strictly a review for the day because I give them a 5 star rating in all my other reviews.
The course was in great shape for this time of year.
The club was hosting a large 3-day senior outing, so there were no carts available on time. Teed off late. Ended up waiting 15 minutes for every shot. Left after 10 holes.
The staff did the best they could and were very polite and helpful.

Course has some great holes (1, 3, 6, 7, 9, 10, 17, 18) and a lot of average holes, Course is in typical Florida winter conditions. Greens were tough to figure out.

Played on an extremely windy day which made play tough. Course was in great condition. Greens were moderately fast, but true. Bill the starter was very informative and friendly. Can't wait to go back.

This course is beautiful AND in great shape. Cannot wait to play it again.

What a pretty course. The front 9 was perfect. Back 9 as well except for 2 greens that had been damaged in some flooding. Grass in fairways and rough was in the best condition of any courses I've played in west central Florida lately. Nice rolling hills gave some elevation changes which made the course a little challenging. I'll definitely be back.

This has become one of my favorite courses in the Tampa Bay area. Course was in great condition.

Greens were in good condition. The rest of course in poor condition. Hard to tell where fairways end and rough begins. Tee boxes were very thin. Haven't played here in a couple years and it has really gone downhill. They were renovating clubhouse, so no judgement there.

Booked a tee time on line for South course, but when arrived was informed south course was closed and was sent on to north course (south course greens had been aerated week prior and then a large rain storm had washed off the top dressing so greens were not ready... can't control mother nature).
Luckily for me, I enjoy the North Course just as well. Layout is beautiful and challenging. Tee boxes and green fringe in spots is a little rough. Fairways in great shape.

I loved this course. Challenging without using gimmicks. Great mix of hazards. Course in great shape. The greens had been aerated about a week prior to my round, so tough putting conditions (but a necessary evil, only reason course condition wasn't given an excellent rating). Pro shop and cafe were spartan, but I play golf for the golf and don't need frills.

Layout makes great use of water and bunkers. From the tips a very difficult course, but from the middle tees playable by any ability. Grass was great on tees, fairways, greens, and even rough.
Had a large rain event (6" over the course of a few days) just a few days earlier and course was still very playable except for a few muddy traps.

Course was in great condition. Greens were fantastic. Pace of play was great until hitting a bottle neck on back 9 with no rangers to get the slow players up to speed.
Close to home, so definitely will be back.

Beautiful course. Condition exceptional.
Lots of bunkers make the course tough when teamed up with lightning fast greens and tough pin placements.
Can't wait to get out here again.

Perfect weather, great playing partners, should've been a good day. Pin placements seemed to be set up for a Sunday on the PGA Tour. Tucking the flags behind traps is one thing, but just about every pin was placed on a ridge so it was impossible to get a read.
At the GolfNow rate, I'm glad I played the course, but I won't be back.

Pros:
- nice layout, good mix of water/traps/elevation (for Florida)
- greens were smooth and ran true
- low cost
Cons:
- lacking in grass throughout course (greens, fairways, tee boxes). It is the dry season in FL, but grass quality much lower than other courses played in the last few weeks
- traps were rocky and did not appear to be maintained recently
- pace of play was slow considering all players had their own carts due to virus constraints

Considering Florida is going through an extremely dry dry season, the greens and fairways were in great shape. Some tees needed some work.
The layout is great. Nice balance of hazards. Back 9 is extremely peaceful.
Thoroughly enjoyed the round.

Cheval has always been one of the premier courses in Tampa and I take every opportunity I can to play there. The greens rolled true. Overall the course was in great condition. The staff was helpful and friendly. Can't wait to play there again.
