Carolina Trace - Lake is a nice layout.

The course has very good terrain and has some very nice holes. Very good test of golf. The course was in decent shape and greens were pretty good. Overall, the course is in good shape but it is just a bit old and tired. It needs a good tree trimming as some trees have encroached and is hurting some turf areas. If the course were to do an “update” and a few nips and tucks here and there it would be a very high quality course.

Legacy GL

Legacy GL is about 15 minutes outside of Pinehurst. It's a very player friendly course layout with mostly generous fairways and some challenging undulations around the green complexes. There are 3-4 really nice holes, the other holes are decent but not spectacular. The course was in decent shape and the greens were in good shape. Several of the holes have the "saddleback" fairways that help wayward shots come back into play. This course has double bogies and eagles and everything in between. There are better courses in the Pinehurst area but this was good; I'd come back and play.

Great Layout, average conditions

Played on 6/10. Mirimichi is a fantastic layout. A great course. Wonderful holes and very challenging. Great natural and man made features. The conditioning is average to slightly above average. The driving range is pretty bad. The greens were decent. If this course raised its conditioning a notch or two it would be a premiere golf course. I think when Justin Timberlake bought the course and dumped a ton of money into it, it must have awesome. A decade later (well after he sold) its getting a little tired and rough around the edges. This is definitely a must play and is very reasonably priced. It would be an easy five stars if the course was in a touch better shape.

Nice round of golf

Played the course on a Sunday morning in early October while down from GA visiting family in Palm Beach. The course conditions were fairly nice....decent fairways and greens. The course has a bunch of water but is still relatively wide open with plenty of room to play. It was very breezy (15+ mph) when we played and the ball was getting blown about a bit but I never felt like there was no room to play.
The course is in a housing development but the houses are set way back and the course feels wide open.
I enjoyed the round. The course was fine. Nothing really special about the course but there was enough variety on a few cool holes that kept it interesting. I’d play again.

This was a great day on the course

The course winds through a housing development / city but doesn't feel crowded. Great course conditions and spectacular greens. Great value for the money. Pace of play (during week) was great. Will definitely play again and recommend to friends.

Played here while on Spring Break Vacation

I was on vacation to SoFL and played Banyan Cay. I played here before during the Christmas break. The course is solid. Fairways, Tees & Bunkers were nice. The Greens were healthy but cut a bit long so they were a tad slow. The greens crew mentioned that all of SoFL has had a wet/overcast winter and many courses had grass growing problems. They chose to keep the grass healthy and raised the mowers a bit. The greens putted true, just a bit slow.
We got caught in a rain delay in the middle of the round but the course drained well and we finished.
The course is a bit pricey but if you want to play a nice course with a good layout - I recommend this course.

You get what you pay for

Played Binks while I was down in SoFL on vacation. I got a great price on GolfNow Hot Deals.
The course is not in good shape but the layout is actually pretty decent.
The tee boxes and fairways were scratchy and had significant weeds. The greens were not that bad and putted pretty decent - better than some other courses in the area. The driving range is horrendous and overgrown with weeds.
I know that SoFL has had a tough, wet winter that has hurt golf course conditions across the region. I think it has had an impact to this course but I think there is also a lack of resources at this course as well.
Marginal conditioning aside - I actually enjoyed the layout and had a fun time playing. There are a few pretty good holes. The course has "good bones". Unfortunately it needs some money put into it and it's a tough time for that....

If you can get a cheap price and understand what you are getting - give it a try. Otherwise, you might feel disappointed.

Florida Club

I was on vacation in West Palm Beach and found the Florida Club on Golf Now.com and decided to make the 35 minute drive north to Stuart FL and give it a go.

First off, everything was sloppy wet. To be fair, the course was rained on hard over night. However, the drainage is horrid. Standing water and slop everywhere. Driving range, fairways, rough, etc. They hadn't mowed in a while and not only was it sloppy, it was shaggy. The greens drained OK but the grass wasn't the most healthy. They rolled OK but we're a tad thin.

My son and I played with a local resident / member. They were super nice and loved the course and community. Some of the nicest people I met that week. The staff was super nice as well. My son, who is 9 years old and a competitive golfer, was loving all the attention from the nice folks. The staff was great .... They didn't charge my son a green fee because of the sloppy conditions. Nice touch....the course is under water.....cut folks a break from full price.

The course was an interesting layout. If the owners put some money into renovations it could be quite nice. They have tried to put some drainage sumps in the fairways but they are dealing with a flat, low lying piece of property. The course is just " a bit tired" and needs a slight renovation. It's in a community that has been around for ~20+ Years and the course just needs a little face lift.

Bottom line is I'd play the course again.....just make sure you play it after a few dry days. Decent layout, decent price, nice folks....average conditions (minus the rain)

Madison Green

I've played this course several times over the past few years when I visit relatives in WPB. The course is always in decent shape - better than most public courses in the area. The course is your typical ~late 1990's / early 2000's course that is jammed into a FL housing development. The course is quite tight with some holes offering seemingly no where to land the Driver with water and houses everywhere. The green complexes are pretty well done and the greens were in pretty good shape. We got caught in a mid-round down pour and stopped play for about 30 minutes but the course seemed to drain pretty well after the storm.
I enjoy the course because it offers a challenge and forces you to reign in the temptation to hit Driver on every hole. That being said, I wouldn't enjoy playing here every day....
A little pricey compare to the local WPB municipal courses but it's in a little better shape.

Nice course

Banyan Cay is the old Presidents CC. Presidents CC used to be an old money, primarily Jewish "snowbird" country club. A short while back the club went under as the membership aged on. The new owners have closed 18 of the 36 holes and dumped some money into the remaining 18 "Eagle Course". The plans are to build out a 5 star hotel / resort and some add'l real estate on the land from the closed 18.

The existing course is actually pretty darn nice and the owners have made it very nice. There is quite a bit of water but the course is still very playable. The fairways, greens and tee boxes are in very nice shape.

In talking with the staff, it looks like they are going to spend even more money on the course in the near future. The existing Robert Trent Jones Jr design is solid. The guys In the shop mentioned Greg Norman coming in to tweak the course.. Once the resort and hotel opens in a year or two, the price point will probably go up a bit and tee times will be primarily allocated to resort / hotel guests....

I think it's a very nice resort course and is worth playing. Conditions are much nicer than other public courses in area.

WPB Golf Course

A good ol' fashion golf course. It's a bit rough around the edges but it's a decent track. Not a drop of water on the entire course . If you are off the fairways, you are in loose sand and scrub bushes. Some solid driving holes that are framed nicely. The topography of the course is actually quite nice and rolling which is a breath of fresh air from the normal flat So FL course. Fairways and greens were in pretty good shape. Tee boxes are a bit scratchy.
For the price, I'd okay here again....

Palm Beach National

Played on early Saturday afternoon. Good value. Pretty good conditions. Staff was great. Fun vibe at course and club house. The round was a bit slow. Unfortunately got caught behind a very slow group. The Rangers were on them and even made them skip a hole to catch up.....still was a little slow. Other than that, course has improved from when I played it a few years back...

Good greens. Good mix of holes. Some open; some tight. Decent amount of water. Some real quirky holes that require different shots. Bring your laser / range finder to figure out landing area as several holes require laying back with less than driver.
