Sugarbush Golf Club
Played On 10/16/2014Great Track cut thru nature with fun risk reward layout.
This was my first time playing Sugarbush in Davison. I was excited that it cuts thru nature and not someones back yard. Fairways were in good shape and played like butter. Greens were in good shape and even the greens that have been airated for the fall were playable. Greens had good speed. I really enjoyed it and will definately be on the list to play more often next season.
Jewel of Grand Blanc - Diamond Course
Played On 08/29/2014The Jewel - Diamond - North Course - fun to play - great greens
Played the Jewel's Diamond Course and had a great time. The greens are in great shape as well as the fairways. The rough is deep...but still playable...which is a good set up to give risk reward. The only knock would be the bunkers...not maintained as well as they should be. Looking forward to trying their Onyx course soon.
Brookwood Golf Club
Played On 08/02/2014Brookwood - Fun Course - Well Maintained - Nice Greens
One of my favorite courses in the Flint area. Mature course that is well maintained. Greens are a little bit hard but you can still get the ball to hold. They also have a nice practice area with a chipping area complete with sand trap. If you've never played give it a play...you will like it!
Willow Brook Golf Club
Played On 05/26/2014Fun course that requires good shot management
First time playing this course and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Course is a fairly tight fit through a nicely wooded area. Greens are well maintained, but a bit slower than I'm used to, and played nicely. I will play here again.
Robert A. Black Golf Club
Played On 04/30/2014Got kick off on 8th hole - course closed before dark
Played this course with my daughter. Went out last for the day. We picked it because she is a new golfer and wanted a shorter course. We had fun until the 8th hole when the couse supervisor walked up and told us this was our last hole...they were closing. It was just around sunset, but we could have easily finished the last hole. So the guy tells us were done, then walks ahead and pulls the flag stick. On a side note, he did come out to our car afterward and said we could play two for one if we wanted to another time. He advised coming earlier....with a new golfer we wanted a last start...not wanting to hold others up...so much for being the good guy. We just wanted to play our final hole....I will not be back.
P.S. The bathrooms were bad...only one sink worked and then just the cold water. The ladies room had no paper towels. You can tell this is a city owned course.
Twelve Stones Golf Club
Played On 10/5/2013This may have been a nice course once upon a time. ( such a shame)
This could be a nice track (and may have been once). It has great views and I liked the layout. But the greens are almost a total loss. Clearly they have been not properly taken care of for a while. The sand traps have not been raked out in months (years ?) and some are so grown over by weeds and grass they are really bad.
While this was my first time playing Twelve Stones Crossing, I will likely not be back. It's such a shame as this could be a realy nice course.
The Meadows Golf Club of Blue Island
Played On 07/25/2013A fun track - first time playing it
This was a fun track. The greens are fast, which I really liked.
The par 5's are a bit on the short side, but made it fun for birdie attempts.
Tee boxes were in good shape.
Greens were a bit hard, but if you play knowing that you 'll be fine. You can play a bit more of a pitch and run game.
I had fun and I will likely play it again.
Briar Ridge Golf & Country Club
Played On 7/19/2013Briar Ridge has improved
I've played here several times over the past five years. This year they have really improved the condition of the course.
The greens are in much better condition than ever before (greens are a bit slow)
The tee boxes are way better groomed.
Bunkers are maintained, but they really need to put new sand in them, they have to much small stones.
I would recomend this course.
