Firecliff at Desert Willow Golf Resort
Played On 08/10/2022Once great course needs to get back to its “roots”
Desert Willow use to be our favorite golf facility. A municipal golf course built for, and supported by the residents of Palm Desert. Residents of Palm Desert have supported the facility in two ways: local tax assessments and course play. Several years ago, the City brought in Kemper Management to run the facility. Kemper has continually raised prices and could give “two cents” about Palm Desert Residents. Since Kemper has stepped in, everything about Desert Willow has declined (except for the pricing). The condition of the course is not even close to what it once was and the pace of play has become excruciatingly slow. Lunches at the restaurant have become overpriced, portions are much smaller, and the food is bland. Hopefully, the City of Palm Desert steps in, removes Kemper, and brings this facility back to its original greatness. If in Palm Desert to play golf choose Desert Springs, Shadow Ridge, or Desert Falls over Desert Willow.
Cerbat Cliffs Golf Course
Played On 04/25/2021Great local course in Kingman, Arizona
Wonderful course along I-40 in Kingman, Arizona. Really enjoyed the course layout, especially the back 9. Be ready for some very windy days and some high scores. Greens roll very fast and a few have huge swales. “US Open” type greens!
Good luck on 16, 17, 18 - especially if hitting into the wind on 16 & 17. Course also has some tremendous Par 5 holes - into the wind, with the wind, and crosswinds. Will look forward to the fairways getting in better condition as the Summer gets closer. Also, elevation is at approximately 3300 feet, so there can be varying weather conditions.
PGA WEST Pete Dye Dunes Course
Played On 10/18/2020Very impressive conditions
Course was fantastic. Greens were tremendous. Staff was wonderful. Just a brilliant day on the golf course. The new Superintendent (Kevin), previously at Shadow Ridge Golf Club, has this course in tip top shape, Kudos to the entire staff!
PGA WEST Pete Dye Dunes Course
Played On 10/17/2020Fantastic Conditions at The Dunes Club
The new Superintendent (Kevin) has the course looking impeccable. Tremendous, scenic holes with a few extremely tough ones also. Beautiful, undulating greens with lush fairways. Typical of Pete Dye courses, lots of water that is usually located on the right side of the holes. Quite a number of holes also require a carry over water. Even if you are in the fairway be ready for a lot of side hill, down hill, and up hill lies. Also a few raised greens with small landing platforms. Along with iThe Mountain Course on the same property, must plays if you are visiting the Desert.
Indian Canyons Golf Resort - South Course
Played On 10/10/2020Great Tract In Palm Springs
Indian Canyons South has always been a wonderful golf tract. Great combination of doglegs, water and desert carries, and fairly fast greens. Like the North Course even better!
Laughlin Ranch Golf Club
Played On 07/24/2020A Fantastic Golf Facility!
This is simply a tremendous golf course. The layout is incredible and the course conditions are excellent. During the Summer the rates are extremely reasonable. The staff was especially friendly and professional. Make sure you play from the proper tee boxes. If you are a 15 handicap like me, play from the 6,000 yard Silver Tees that have a 129 rating. Keep your ball in play and try to make smart decisions. Very easy to lose lots of balls if you are not careful.
Don’t be a “hero.” If so, you will lose lots of balls and slow up play.
The Fairways at Twin Lakes
Played On 09/04/2018Wonderful Nine Hole “Old School” Layout in Superb Conditions
Was in town from Southern California, staying in Streetsboro, Ohio.
This simply is a fantastic layout! Doglegs, elevation changes, thick rough, deep bunkers, and fast greens that break a lot more than they look.
Plus the cost was only $16!
The conditions of this “old school” course are fantastic and I can’t wait to play it again.
Las Sendas Golf Club
Played On 05/16/2018Very disappointed for a Robert Trent Jones Layout
Course layout is fair, at best. Greens, fairways, and bunkers were in pretty bad shape. Very nice people and staff, but we wouldn’t play this course again nor recommend it to others
Palms at Marriott's Desert Springs Resort
Played On 05/08/2018Palms Courae in Terrible Shape
Sorry for the poor review, but the course was simply in terrible shape. Hopefully, that is not an indication of the rest of the Summer since this is always a wonderful property to play golf at.
Indian Canyons Golf Resort - North Course
Played On 03/17/2018Indian Canyons North is a nice layout
Always enjoy Indian Canyons North. Mature course with a great old style feel. Pace of play is usually much quicker than the South Course. The greens run pretty quick and are smooth. During the Winter time the rough is “up” so keep the ball in the fairway. Playing from the thick rough could
prove to be a tough chore. Number 18 is a wonderful finishing par 5 dogleg left with a second or third shot carry over water.
Desert Dunes Golf Course
Played On 02/24/2018Great layout but 5 hour and 10 minute round
I have always really enjoyed Desert Dunes as it is a wonderful layout. Our suggestion is to try to get the first t time in the morning or wait until mid afternoon. If playing mid morning, especially on a weekend, the pace of play is horrendous. The thing is, the course is very tough and if you don’t keep the ball in play it will be impossible to find,. If you hit it off into the bushes and desert shrubs don’t even try looking for the ball as it slows up play immensely. Also, move forward on the t boxes and you will have a much more enjoyable round.
Course conditions- we played here two weeks ago and the course was lush and the geeens were fantastic. On this day of playing it looked like they had not watered for two weeks. Course was brown and patchy, bunkers in terrible shape, and the greens were not good at all.
Palm Desert Country Club
Played On 10/22/2017PDCC is in terrific shape
Played just after re opening from over seeding. Course is in great shape. Although the greens were a little slow, the rough was quite high - making for a very challenging day. Look forward to a few weeks from now when the greens will be fast (and maybe the rough will not be quite as high).
Indian Palms Golf & Country Club - Indian/Mountain
Played On 10/20/2017Indian Palms is a golfer friendly course at the right price
Really enjoy Indian Palms. Course is always in good shape and the pace of play is at a reasonable pace. Course has some tricky fairways and approach shots so try your best to keep the ball in play.
Indian Canyons Golf Resort - South Course
Played On 10/08/2017Decent course; not great, but worth giving a try
Indian Canyons South is an ok golf course in The Valley.
Staff is great, pace of play is good, greens in nice shape. The day we played the rough was spotty and not well kept and the bunkers were horrendous. If they re do the bunkers and clean up the areas a bit off of the fairways, then they would have a very nice golf course.
If playing, go in with low expectations and you will have an enjoyable round.
The Classic Club
Played On 08/20/2017Classic Club is a "Classic Experience"
Classic Club has been in tremendous shape this Summer. Greens are fast and so has the pace of play. Make sure you "move forward" to the tee box that fits your game. Lots of water and bunkers. Keep the ball in play and don't try to be a "hero."
Escena Golf Club
Played On 08/12/2017Great layout in Palm Springs
Escena is a tremendous Jack Nicklaus Design layout. Greens are in good shape for being the middle of August in the Desert. Great value during the Summer. Only small complaint is that they did not have any cups at any of the water stations - seemed very odd. Of course, during this time in the Desert, one needs a cup of water at least every other hole.
Pace of play was excellent.
Talking Stick Golf Club - Piipaash Course
Played On 05/17/2017Really disappointed with this course
It's too bad as we were really looking forward to playing here based on other reviews. The course was is terrible condition - the fairways were very "patchy," the greens were sandy and horrendous , bunkers were unkept and not raked properly, and the overall layout of the course is boring. Price WAY too high
Shadow Ridge Golf Club
Played On 04/15/2017Shadow Ridge is in great condition as the Summer gets closer
Summer golf in the Desert is wonderful. A golfer can play brilliant courses at very reasonable rates. One of these courses is Shadow Ridge. Conditions at Shadow Ridge are great and the pace of play was well under four hours this morning. Get Marriott Rewards point and Shadow Ridge app. reward points every time you play.
Palm Desert Country Club
Played On 11/26/2016Wonderful course since the renovations
Played in three hours. Greens are tricky and fast - perfect. Especially enjoy how holes 9 and 18 line up opposite to each other. Hole 9 being a dogleg right and hole 18 being a dogleg left. Bombers can try to cut the corner at each or hit a rescue club or iron to the 150 markers. Great risk / reward holes.
Palms at Marriott's Desert Springs Resort
Played On 08/08/2014Great prices in the Middle of the Summer
$21! Incredible to pay this price and have the course in tremendous conditions . Great "block" to plan you golf vacation.
108 holes all within one mile!
