Southwick Country Club
Played On 12/28/2020Good deal, but needs attention
Play Southwick 10-12 times per year because of the low cost and challenging holes. Played after Christmas on a cool day when the course was soggy in several places. No issue with the conditions, but the management of the course could use some effort. All the carts were dirty and not cleaned out. The 10th hole has perpetual drainage issues in the fairway that need addressed. The two tee shots in our foursome that landed in the middle of the fairway could not be found. A drainage ditch through the middle of the fairway (that is also invisible from the tee boxes) does not solve the issue and actually punishes good tee shots. A course always worth playing, but some course TLC would be helpful.
Creek at Carolina Trace Country Club
Played On 11/28/2020Great Golf
Always enjoy playing both courses at Carolina Trace. The Creek is challenging, but rewards good shots. It was a nice fall day and the course was in good shape for late November. Highly recommended.

Played On 10/03/2020Always Fun
Played Tot Hill again with several buddies and it never disappoints. The course was in fine shape and the crisp fall weather was perfect. Only down side was one of the course Marshalls was borderline rude.
Southwick Country Club
Played On 07/25/2020Always a Bargin
Play Southwick an average of once a month. Nothing fancy about the course, but it is inexpensive and has some challenging holes. Great golf course to go play with you buddies.
Lochmere Golf Club
Played On 05/27/2020Nice Course
Have only played this course twice, but it is very well maintained and a pleasure to play. Lots of fairly short par 4s with some narrow fairways and quite a few bunkers around the greens. The course rewards accuracy over shot length. My only minor criticism would be that the par 4s all start to look similar after a while. Highly recommended.
The Preserve at Jordan Lake Golf Club
Played On 11/29/2019Always a challenge
One of the more difficult courses in the Triangle area of NC due to the terrain and greens, it is fun to play. The course offers challenging holes across all pars. Highly recommended, but bring plenty of balls and a sense of humor.
Thank you for visiting us at The Preserve at Jordan Lake Golf Club. We truly appreciate your 5-star review and great feedback on the course! We hope you join us for another round soon.
The Challenge Golf Club
Played On 09/14/2019Name Fits
Play this course a couple times per year. This course rewards accuracy and punishes those who cannot stay in the fairway. Lots of terrain to deal with, as well as bunkers, water and woods. Bring your 'A' game and enjoy a challenging round.
The Golf Club at Chapel Ridge
Played On 04/22/2019Nice Outing
Played Chapel Ridge with several friends. Have played the course numerous times, and it was in prime shape for this time of year despite the large amount of rain this spring. The day was nice -- temps in the 70s and the greens were fast. Always an enjoyable and challenging course that will leave you tired by the 18th tee.
Thanks for the 4-star review and taking the time to share your feedback with us. We're so glad to hear we could provide you and your friends with a valuable golf experience here at The Golf Club at Chapel Ridge. Come back for another round soon! #ChapelRidgeGolf
The Challenge Golf Club
Played On 12/19/2017Tough, but enjoyable
Have played the Challenge several times, but this was the first time back in several years. The course seemed more difficult than I remembered and it held to its name. The first 9 holes were agonizingly slow as we were held up by golfers finishing a scramble start earlier in the day. After that, the pace picked up though we had to rush to finish before dark. The course was in pretty good condition for mid-December. If you want to evaluate your game, this is the course.
Lakeshore Golf Course
Played On 10/28/2017Neat Course
Have played Lakeshore several times and always enjoy playing there. The course has several unique holes which make playing there interesting. The pace has been slow the last couple rounds, but not an issue I have noticed before. Lakeshore is an inexpensive treat for golfers of all types.
Azalea Sands Golf Course
Played On 05/17/2017Nice Inexpensive Course
Played 9 holes at this course after getting bored one day during a beach vacation. Nothing really noteworthy about the course, in decent condition and not much terrain. Almost every green on the front nine is surrounded by sand traps which is the greatest challenge to the course. Definitely worth a round to save some money and hit some balls.
Beachwood Golf Club
Played On 05/16/2017Coastal Golf
Played here with my son while on vacation in North Myrtle Beach. Nice course that was well maintained, but not plush. Typical coastal NC/SC layout of palmetto and pine trees, lots of traps and some water. The pace was slow due to a threesome ahead of us who did not understand the concept of a busy course or allowing faster groups to play through. A Marshall speeding them up would have been nice.
Southwick Country Club
Played On 02/12/2017Great Value Course
A challenging course that is inexpensive and fun to play. No dress code, just play golf. Worth a visit but downsides are course conditions and tendency to allow walk in's to go ahead of tee times
The Preserve at Jordan Lake Golf Club
Played On 07/10/2016Always Challenging
Have played The Preserve several times and have always considered it the most challenging course in the triangle area of NC. The bunkers, layout, and terrain always require golfers to be on top of their game (the twosome we were paired with almost ran out of balls). The course is usually in great shape and offers a variety of tough holes. An enjoyable course to play unless you are looking to lower your handicap.
The Golf Club at Chapel Ridge
Played On 11/11/2015Challenging and Enjoyable
Played this course for the 3rd time. Weather was nice, but it had been very rainy for several days prior and there unavoidable soggy spots. Course was in very good shape considering and the slopes and bunkers tested my game. Play was a little slow due to pairing in front being oblivious to those waiting on them, but not a real problem. A well-maintained and enjoyable course that has tremendous green fee bargains available.
UNC Finley Golf Course
Played On 06/15/2014Always enjoyable
Played 9 holes with my son on Father's Day. As usual, we had a great time and the course was in great condition. We always enjoy playing Finley.
Lakeshore Golf Course
Played On 05/17/2014Lake side beauty
Played this course for the first time with my son. Loved the driving range with the lake as the landing spot. Course was fairly short, but fun to play with plenty of holes that would make you pay for bad shots. Condition was good for this time of year (mid-May) and the views were great. The only minor things were not very clean (and small) restrooms and very slow play which was tolerated by the roaming course ranger (though he apologized).
Boone Golf Club
Played On 04/17/2014Always a pleasure to play
Played 18 holes with my son on a cool and breezy day. Despite the conditions, we had a great time and the course was in very good shape considering it was just April in the high country. We always enjoy playing the Boone course -- challenging, but not imposing and beautiful. Highly recommended.
Sherwood Golf Club
Played On 01/19/2014Good for the Money
Got an online deal paying $100 for 4 players with carts and it was well worth the money. Sherwood is a very good neighborhood course (literally) with some challenging holes. On some holes homes are quite close to the fairway and our crew had more than a couple balls end up in back yards. Nothing special about the clubhouse or food, but nice place to play with friends.
Hole referenced in review with drainage problems should be 11 vice 10.
