Very good value for money for a Sunday afternoon, resulting in a very busy course and pace bit slow, cant complain as a 1-ball. Expect few hackers/beginners around, so patience is required.
Having said that, decent short course in the Watford area, with the usual stupid holes (3rd downhill and 5th Par 5) where powerlines are the main danger, but very exciting backtoback Par3 9th and 10th.
Not particularly challenging or long, but good practice on Parkland layout, a steal for £13 on Sunday
The South Buckinghamshire - Farnham Park Course
Played On 01/07/2018winter Golf
To sum up, very impressed with course status even just after bad weather and wet conditions. All tee's in winter mats, but did not feel a detriment on original course design.
Bad points on speed of play, 1:30 on first 9 followed by 3 hours on second half, had visibility of 4 ball groups from 11th tee onwards,, not great etiquette from members!
As a whole, happy to give it a second chance,, will visit again in the spring
Wexham Park Golf Centre - Blue Course
Played On 06/04/2017Very poor speed, abandoned after 9 holes
Sunday sunny 1 PM tee off is usually safe bet to enjoy playing for the first time a golf course as a 1-ball. Usually do not complain about slow play, started with 2 groups in front at a reasonable speed. However coming 5th hole had to wait on the tee for 15 minutes, up to 20 minutes on the 7th with 3 groups waiting to tee-off. After that, lost the will to live...
About the course, or at least what I saw of it, very tight fairways and interesting dog-legs. Nice setting with beauty value, where distance control and accuracy seem key. Would say above average difficulty. Plenty of Juniors around and very nice practice facilities.
No outstanding hole comes to mind, Par 5 16th running alongside 5th look very interesting, but did not play it.
Probably won't bother to come again.
Northwood Golf Club
Played On 05/04/2017Golf with a twist
Very interesting course surrounded by Public courses, not the average parkland course with very testing holes requiring distance control over power, guessing that need to play course more than once for a good score. Lovely greens and fairways playing quite fast. Top notch for bunkers.
In summary, excellent golf layout what not to like about it! However negative points on tee system, not really sure how they allow people to tee off either from 1st or 10th without checking what is behind, very frustrating to find yourself being held by people that just started the round. Also don't ask my why but people does not seem to be particularly friendly, just a strange vibe around course and bar area that did not make me feel 100% welcome.
Haste Hill Golf Club
Played On 04/04/2017Public course under renovation
Good day out enjoying the late light hours Spring is throwing at us.
Mixed feelings on the golf course, currently undergoing under major renovation with many bunkers and tree over-grown being done. Hope this investment will pay off on the future (even though not happy on works done on the 4th, a difficult challenging hole being turned to easy and forgettable one due to cutting too much).
However the major reworks is seems to have a major effect on the day-to-day care, greens in some bad condition and grass over-growing where should not remarkably around greens.
Haste Hill used to be the best public course of the area, hope they come back to their standards once renovation finishes.
Pinner Hill Golf Club
Played On 04/01/2017Hidden Jewel
Not very sure how to review Pinner Hill, very interesting mix between Parkland layout with Welsh/midlands hilly open course. Definitely there is no other course similar in the north London area, playing very long with extreme difficulties to find a flat lie, but also very open and forgiving to the wayward shot without many bunkers or traps to worry about.
Many blind shots and did I say not a flat lie, you would be wise to get a trolley!!! Worth mention the Par3 11th, mid-range diagonal green shape view perfect view from tee all surrounded by danger. Also Par5 13th dogleg with at least 2 blind shots, one that would need to play again. However the silly hole price goes to the Par3 17th, downhill blind shot nowhere to aim or even a clue if your shot was any good, just don't get it.
Do not miss opportunity to play, I will definitely go back for more hoping to improve my 89.
Radlett Park Golf Club
Played On 01/02/2017Golf under freezing conditions
First time around Radlett under very cold conditions after morning freeze. Fairways holding up magnificently taking circumstances, but in comparison Greens very soft. Pace of play very poor (teed offpeak 12:30), didn't help the cold weather!
Mix feelings with course layout, first 12 holes relatively narrow with uninspiring green locations, followed by a final 6 run with some interesting doglegs where distance control is key, but again vast majority of greens miss some distinctive features that would make you remember them.
Can't complain about price paid, £15 off-peak on a Bank Holiday. Would have not mind paid a bit more if there was less queue in front, probably created by knock out prices...
West Middlesex
Played On 12/14/2016Challenging Layout
First time around West Midd. course, very interesting and challenging layout that keeps you thinking. Every hole is a different requirement, and would deffinitely suit players that can shape ball flight.
Main positives are the variety on each hole, either bunkers, trees or water on play. Par 3's are the main challenge, but also some clever doglegs where distance control is key.
Grees and Fairways in very good condition for this time of the year, just noticed some disease in few greens but not affecting ball direction.
As a whole, good challenge that any golfer would enjoy. Have to come back
Brent Valley Golf Club
Played On 12/07/2016Not remarkable, but very close to central London
Mix feelings with the Course.
As positive, short one (2:45 1-ball) very close to Central London. Fairways/Bunkers in fantastic condition, Greens firm and paths are very well marked. BTW, 14th Hole is a beauty, pity is the only one I will remember.
Not as positive: grass a bit tall on the tee's, and not particularly remarkable course where some holes are very samish. Easy course with no much danger and can get away with almost any driver that goes forward. Greens are very flat easy to read.
As a summary, not bad value for money taking into account location, ideal for begginers or to get your golf fix sorted, but not remarkable in any way.
Bushey Hall Golf Club
Played On 12/04/2016Lovely pay-and-play course
First time around Bshey Hall on a freezing Sunday, course though keeping quite true with exception of few ice patches in shady areas (5th green notably rock hard).
Nice layout with some challenging Par 3, only let down by electic cables over 2 holes that are somehow distracting.
