I had payed this course a year ago and really enjoyed it, so was looking forward to the current round but was somewhat disappointed.

Firstly when I arrived, I was told the back 9 was closed due to repairs but was welcome to play the front again since I had already pre-paid. I would've been fine with that but the pace of play was beyond terrible. I found this quite surprising for a 11:40 tee time on a Wednesday afternoon. There were no rangers doing anything to move people along. If anything at least I had no one behind me so I tried replaying some holes in order to let the slow pokes get far enough ahead but to no avail. The twosome in front of me may have well been crawling on all fours. I kept catching up to them. When I finally came back around to play the front 9 again, these same players were still screwing around. I even tried skipping some holes but ran into people just as terribly slow as they were. Finally I gave up after all the running around and quit early. The irony is, as I was finishing I saw people playing the 18th hole and asked them when they opened up back 9. They said it re opened only an hour before I was finishing.

It would've been nice if the course had announced the back nine closing on the website and that it was actually going to reopen later in the day. Bummer...wish I didn't have to get all "Karen." but was sad that I couldn't enjoy the course the way it's supposed to be.

Positives - the pro shop guys were super nice and friendly, the course is beautiful, the weather was great and outside of the terrible pace of play, I hope this was just an off day for them. Hopefully this review will be considered constructive critique and moving forward it will help resolve these issues.

Love this golf course. My buddies and I are regulars and the condition of the course is always top notch, service fantastic, and the staff are always accommodating. Was a well kept little secret in the area for years, but the word is getting out that this a great bang for the buck and always fun.

This is a great course for working on medium aspects of your game where your drives get you close to the green even if you're not a long hitter. Pleasant environment - just enough trees and hills to keep things interesting. Easy to walk. Staff are awesome! Upgraded practice areas as well. Highly recommend!

I had been waiting to try Hendricks out for quite a while but only just got the opportunity today. They were either closed for renovation or only available for 9 holes. So when I heard they were up and running for 18, I thought the time is right to try them out.

Very glad I did. My playing partner and I were marveling at how beautiful the course is. The layout is fantastic and for even high handicappers like us, the course wasn't too difficult, but challenging enough to make us feel like we're playing a solid track that keep us honest. We even had the good fortune to be paired up with one of the locals who knew the old course and new course inside and out. He was very friendly and helpful letting us know what to expect on each hole. There was even a funny moment when we accidentally got our cart stuck in a boggy area that we didn't see just off the fairway. Instead of the pro-shop being mad at us, they laughed and brought us a new cart without even batting an eye. Super friendly staff. Great course! Highly recommend!

$140 for two golfers included cart. Really cool golf course - especially back 9.

The course was a bit undermaintained in terms of fairways (very grassy, chopped up in spots). But in it's defense, the weather was misty, foggy, and generally soggy (early Oct, end of season round). I have a feeling the greens would play pretty nicely if they weren't so soaked.

But I will defintely play this course again if the chance provides itself due to not only the GolfNow.com value (cart and round per person were shockingly inexpensive for NYC area course) but most importantly -- the staff. Everyone from the pro-shop attendants to the starters, the pit-stop employees, and the cart attendants were beyond friendly and helpful. Even in the nasty weather, for the most part, everyone seemed to really be enjoying being on the job and having a nice day on the course.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this course plays during the season and it'll be great to see the course caretakers again due to their enthusiasm and friendliness.

Definitely check it out -- great for beginning and mid-level golfers.

Heatherwood is like the personal golf course you would build in your own backyard if you had the acreage. It's the perfect course for beginners but it's still challenging enough to keep your game up as you improve. A great warm up to be ready to rock a larger course the following day. Heatherwood's staff gives the impression that they love to have you play in addition to providing a very welcoming post-round atmosphere with the free 19th hole drink, the decent food in the homey restaurant and the wide range of local bands they have play during the summer months. A must if you want a round of golf that's fun, easy going, and great bang for the buck.
