We had 2 threesomes and played at a good pace until the end of the round when we caught a group who was having problems with every shot. The course was in pretty good condition but needed the greens to be cut. The greens were slow and bumpy. Enjoyed our day. You should too.

I play here about once every other month. It has been the most consistent of the Florida courses. The greens are fast downhill and difficult to read. They are also small and most are raised. The course is challenging and the greens are its defense. I love the course and its setup is always fun and challenging. For the money it is better than most area courses with a wonderful bar and staff. I plan to play it much more often in the future.

What the heck happened to the greens. I played this course two months ago and it was in excellent condition. I would be very upset if I had paid the going rate of more than 40$. I played for 28$ and that was too much. While I understand the need for area courses to make $$, I and at a loss to explain how this course can justify its current rates given the conditions of the greens. On one hole I was 20 feet away, between me and the hole was 15 feet of sand and no place to move the ball unless I went to the other side of the green. Fix this place or I won’t be back.

We played here on a hot deal, 29$. The course has very fast slick greens that are reasonably smooth. The fairways have a lot of bare spots. We got a good deal but as most of the courses in Florida this one is overpriced unless you can find a good hot deal. We will return as long as they offer hot deals less than 30$.

It is October you expect some ragged edges and some dryness but this was ridiculous. I have played here in years past and the course was average. It has dipped far below that and would get 0 if they had that rating. We only paid $20 but I almost wanted to go in and demand my money back. I always look at the putting green. If it is bad then you should not play. Once you see this one turn around since it looks like they put deep sand traps in it. Too bad a good playable layout that is worthlessness

An excellent example of a classic design by Ross. The course conditions are good with small greens and roll offs around the green. If you expecting course conditions of a country club then go somewhere else. Ross intended certain areas to be as you find them without watering or fertilizer. I used a golf now coupon and played here for under 23$. This place is a bargain that is rarely found anywhere or anytime in Florida. If you get within 100 miles go play it.

Course is very playable. The layout can challenge both the beginner or advanced player.

This is certainly a great course for all levels of golfers. Good challenges without being too demanding. I asked a few questions about memberships and the guy in the pro shop couldn’t give me the information. Definitely will repeat and consider joining.

One of Donal Ross’s masterpieces. You can really feel the history of the course. If you like Donald Ross you will love this course. Elevation changes in the fairways make every shot a challenge. Tees and greens are close to each other with a great deal of undulations in the greens. But, the course is very playable. It is not penal or extremely difficult. If I had to play this course everyday it would be a dream come true. We got a great deal on golf now and used coupons to play for 70$. If you come to Asheville you simply must play this course then sit in the hotel veranda overlooking the course and the smoky mountains in the distance. It is an experience you won’t forget. We will play it again next time we visit Asheville.

When I booked this course I wondered if the course would be playable. It was very playable. It was setup for play during the pandemic but the greens were in great shape and very quick in pace. Fairways and tees had good grass given our dry winter and the layout is both fair and challenging. Highly recommend it. Very enjoyable to play as a twosome in less than 3 hours and only pay 22$ for both of us using golf now discounts. You just can’t beat it. Thanks for a fun round of golf.

Our twosome played in less than 3 hours with very little waiting. The course is in excellent condition better than any other course in the area. Everything was prepared for the impact if the virus. Felt safe and all staff were very friendly. Great time. Highly recommend

We enjoyed the course. The pace of play was amazing 18 holes in 3 hours. The course due to lackI of rain was very very dry. Therefore some greens were bumpy and speeds varied. The fairways were hard and rough non existent. Definitely will play again Hoping for rain in all if central Florida.

Really want to like this course but the pace of play today was excruciatingly slow. Went into the pro shop after the ninth to ask if they could speed up play. The response was oh slow play. Well you know I can’t control how slow someone plays. I guess they can’t do anything about it but it was more like, please don’t bother me. This is the 2nd time I have played this course in a week and both times there were issues that were unresolved management issues not related to the course conditions. Oh well. Still looking for a course in the Ocala area that is reasonable in cost and has a manager who gives a crap.

Greens were in good shape but slow in pace. The layout is a little confusing with several parallel fairways. You actually travel back across a few tee boxes. The paths are well marked to help. The eighth hole has been changed for quite some time but the yardage difference and score to pat has not been changed. No indicators in tee tell you that there is a eighty yard distance difference between the actual and the scorecard. Fairways were spotty at best with little or no rough or grass. Doubt I would return as my partner didn’t care for the course either. Pace of play was also very very slow.

We arrived at the course on a sunny cool day. A few cars in the parking lot. We paid and started our round. Good pace of play with no one in front or behind. At the 14th hole the ranger arrived to say that a scramble was starting at three pm and we would have to go to the front nine. What the ... Sure enough we had just two more holes to play when the scramble started on the back nine. I consider this to be very inconsiderate of the management if the course. Knowing this they could have easily started us in the back nine and we would have been clear of the scramble. Not sure is I care to return. Customer service is what getting a customer to return is all about. This is very poor customer service.

The course is very playable for all skill levels. We played as a twosome in about 3 hours. The fairways were playable under winter rule conditions. The greens were extremely fast due to dry dormant conditions. I would play here again and recommend it. They are working to restore this course and make it more playable.
