Late season wear and tear shows up. Too many rounds played by people who do not repair ball marks,, dont replace divots and play slow. On a nirmal day this is 4.5hr round but it can go over 5. Rangers are slow to react after the damage to pace has been done.. BTW the photo if the course above if actually Francis Byrne 9th hole.

For some reason players do not fix the ball marks on greens or rake the bunkers. The course gets a kot of use now that Byrne is 1/2 open and ground crews cannot fix everything. Still much better than before the renovation.

The course was OK considering the rains we had recently. However, the greens were pocketed with unrepaired ball marks. Rolled nice but very soft.. The facilities are second rate (fir golf) they have weddings upstairs, maybe that's better.. No cart girls/guys on course.

Has some interesting holes but many short par 4s, generally flat with some undulations. Greens ion good condition but on a slow side. (rained yesterday)

I play more than 50 rounds p.a. at Byrne, but this year is probably the worst I have seen it. The fairways are dug up, Seems no one is replacing divots. The greens roll surprisingly fast, but a few (especially #7) are in bad shape and need serious work. Don't even get me started on tee boxes, They moved ttimes to 12 min intervals so that can help limit the use and abuse, but might not be enough.

Recently aerated green but fully healed a little soft but great condition. Played on Thursday am- not crowded at all - went out as a twosome and got done quick. Perfect weather for early foliage. Very pretty

I hate when GolfNow and/or the Club do not make it clear that the course maintenance is in progress. The greens were freshly aerated and full of sand with significant un-evenness because of the aeration holes. Impossible to put. The bunkers were pretty damaged by heavy rains (pre Ida I cannot imagine what they look like now) and the ranger told me to play them as ground under repair. The course is nicely laid out and it helps to have someone who knows the payout well to provide some advice on tee shots and blind shots. Had great company in that regard (one of the employees who was great to play with) but the course conditions made it a sub-par experience (in a bad way).

Good condition overall. Some non critical areas need some tlc.

Played on a 40 degree day with some wind in mid January. Not complaining., but the course has a fairly simple (albeit could be confusing)layout. It helped that the tee boxes are nicely marked. Due to COVID had very limited interaction with staff, and there were no rangers on the course (did not need them). My wife and I played in under 3 1/.2 hours walking. I did not see anything special about this course, did not mind playing this time of the year, but would not seek to go back.

Suspect its getting worse, before (if ever) it gets better. On top of that there are recurring problems with the reservation system.

It seems that every time I play this course it gets worse. The greens are severely pocketed and soaked wet, fairways soaked and dug up and the tee boxes pathetic. I guess they only care about rounds played rather than keeping the course in good condition. Looking for alternatives - after many years and many rounds. Too bad, the layout is very nice. One other thing - the new computer reservation system is terrible.

Interesting layout - some holes seem more suitable for sledding rather than golf (1, 9, 10, 18 (not as much)- same hill). disappointed with the condition of the greens - rained the night before - so understand they were slow and variable depending on how fast they dried, but the ball marks were everywhere. Fairways somewhat better, tee boxes pretty bad. Not really worth the price.

I play this course 60-70 times a year; so I like it; great Vf$. However, this season course started in great condition and deteriorated noticeably as COVID restrictions got lifted. seems 7100+ rounds per month is too much too handle. ball marks on greens and divots on the fairways are very bad at this point. I suspect that after Isaias damage there will be other issues (16+17+18 fairways especially) but have not played yet. The lack of rangers is acute, but even so, morning rounds are generally 4-4.5hrs. Afternoons on weekends can get bad for pace of play. Some tee boxes are uneven - tee placement can make a big difference.

in my opinion the worst of three Essex County golf courses - layout of the back nine is no fun. greens are poorly maintained. BTW the photo on the golf now site is of 9th hole at Byrne course, not Hendricks. Play this course when all others are closed

After playing some very interesting courses Papago was - blah. Not an easy course, in good shape but pretty wide open - rewards long hitters even if not acurate of the tee. Flattish, no special scenery.

Did not really enjoy. Course in good condition, but was too cold and miserable from wind to appreciate. Bunkers bunkers bunkers.....

Golfers course. Had a bad day due to weather, but the course was almost empty-mostly twosomes. Great condition. Need distance and precission. Not really worth a long drive, but if you are close you wont regret playing.
