Royal Ka'anapali
Played On 07/30/2015Really fun course, and well priced for the area
The Royal course provided a fun golf experience, with minimal waiting. The course doesn't compare to the Bay or Plantation courses in the area, but is also much more reasonably priced to play. The club house is extremely friendly, and the course is well-maintained. Would definitely recommend it to others.
Moorpark Country Club - The Canyon Crest Golf Course
Played On 07/22/2015Amazing Course
Moorpark is one of my favorite courses in the area. I've rarely had slow rounds there, and the course is always in great shape. Many holes feature breathtaking views, and the fairways/greens are set up to provide a nice challenge to both intermediate and advanced golfers. Highly recommend it.
Malibu Golf Club
Played On 08/17/2014Drought Conditions
The fairways had clearly not been watered in weeks; they were yellow, blotchy and dead. Greens were in good shape, but the conditions of the fairways and tee boxes just took all the joy out of the game. Better off spending your money elsewhere, especially with all the choices of courses within driving distance of Malibu.
Sterling Hills Golf Club
Played On 8/3/2013Fun, but has room for improvement
Sterling Hills GC is fun and challenging, but at times the fairway grass was thick, muddy, and soggy. This was my first time on the course, so I'm not sure if this is a common occurrence, or if maybe it rained in Camarillo the night before we played, but it did lead to multiple balls being switched out mid-hole bc they were covered in mud. Usually, if I hit a straight drive and land in the center of the fairway, I expect a decent lie, but there were points on the 18-holes where this was impossible. The course did have pristine greens, however. They play very fast, which makes putting a fun challenge. Overall, Sterling Hills provides a good golf experience, but it's out-of-the-way location and above-average price makes it unlikely I'll be revisiting anytime soon.
Los Robles Greens Golf Course
Played On 7/12/2013Great course, but very slow pace of play
Las Robles Greens GC is a challenging, but enjoyable course located in Moorpark. The club house is very nice, and the staff is friendly, but it did seem like they were hurrying foursomes out to play, which led to an insanely slow pace of play. It took my group nearly 3.5 hours to play just 12 holes, which got annoying. Overall, this course is a fun experience, but it could be much improved by a faster pace of play.
