Cerro Golf Club

I enjoy playing here. The layout is very good located on the river about 30 minutes from the old town.
The conditioning is poor. Tees are not maintained. Fairways and rough are well grassed but grass is long with weeds. Bunkers I did not bother with as sand is inconsistent with a lot of weeds and some water. Greens are very rough with weeds.
A good place to work on your swing and enjoy a tranquil afternoon at a tenth the cost of Club de Golf Montevideo.

It is great to have a golf course here. Unfortunately demand has not been great which has seen the course conditioning deteriorate over recent years. So much so that the back 9 has been taken out of play. In fact hole 10 is now used for foot soccer golf and this was more popular with the kids than the actual course!. The layout is very challenging particularly holes 6 and 7. Take a few extra balls. Fairways are OK but greens are very slow and bumpy with large areas of sand. The price has been discounted to compensate for the poor conditions so reasonable value if you must play golf and want to work on your swing.
Uruguay Golf Club

This is largely a private course so green fees are high for visiting golfers. The course was designed by Alistair McKenzie earlier last century. The layout is challenging with narrow fairways and mature trees. Greens are very slow and well grassed. Greens are a bit hard to read with the slope generally falling away to the river. All in all a pleasant round (despite the expense). A sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of central Montevideo.
