Same holes always under repair

Myself and my friends have played this course a few times in the past. Every time holes #10 around the green, #11 the center of the fairway landing area, #16 the entire fairway are under repair with numerous other areas on the course having repairs done. We know repairs are needed but in many of the places they have repeat problems it seem that a repair of the problem source is better that just patch work repairs that never end. They have watering issues we guessed as in many places the first cut of rough was hard dry ground with yellow to brown sod. No taking of a divot as our clubs just skipped of the ground. Pretty Frustrating!

We were also disappointed in the Marshall's ability to keep the pace of place moving. We complained twice mostly due to a 4 some that was 2 groups in front of us that would stand and talk on a tee box until the group in front of them were off the green. We stood several times on the front 9 for 20 minutes while they played the hole then the group between them and us played the hole. Frankly if a Marshall can't solve that problem he is not doing his job. Most golfers hit when the group in front is out of reach it is common courtesy. We know the course can't fix everything but this is something that can be fixed.

Slow play is one thing 5hrs & 20min takes the enjoyment out of the round.

When we checked in no one said we are running 25 minutes behind. We found that out when we went to the starter house at 1:20 for a 1:28 tee time. We teed off around 1:55 while we waited we noticed that no group teed off on #10 until we were called to #1. That meant there was a 20-25 minute opening with slow play 9-10 holes ahead of us. We new it was going to be slow when on the 2nd tee a Marshall came to us and said he was pushing the groups ahead of us and they were bumper to bumper. We found it ironic that he also commented that he had heard about 5 and half hour rounds at other courses in the area. When we turn the cart in it was showing 5 hrs and 20 minutes of play time plus the original dlay in teeing off put us at almost 6 hours to get done. We love the cousre and it is in good shape accept for some standing water in places and in some sand traps. If the Marshalls are doing thier jobs and if bad golfers will play easier courses or possiblly pick up after 10 shots. We waited on every tee and on every shot on the back nine. At some point a Marshall needs to tell the group that is causing the problem to pick up and move to the next tee.

1st time maybe bad luck, 2nd time not so sure???

My group drives about 50 minutes one way to this course we love to use the Hot Deals to help cover gas expenses when possible. We tried this course a couple of months ago a hailstorm with rain & lighting started right before our tee time. We were told that the course was not closed so no rain check would be given to us. We played the first 4 holes with hail on the greens. We finally gave up and quit after 14 holes. We wrote it off to our bad luck. We decided to give the course another try. I prepaid another Hot Deal and checked in all 4 guys. Our 4th player stopped by the Pro Shop to see if we had checked in and they charged him a green fee. This may have been an honest mistake but when your group is already checked in the course tee sheet should show that. They did refund his fee when we questioned the charge. The front 9 was in pretty good shape but we had a walking foursome playing from the tips 2 groups in front of us. After 3hrs & 30 minutes on the front 9 and watching those guys hit tee shots OB we wondered why they were walking and why they thought they should be playing the tips. We never saw a Marshall not one time all day. The front 9 was in okay condition but fairways in the back 9 were riddled with ground under repair areas. We finally finished the round in 5hrs & 45 minutes WOW! We were hungry and tried when we got to the resturant we were told they were closed. We like the track and can deal with ground under repair but almost 6 hours to play and a closed resturant at 7:20 on a Saturday did not impress us.
We will not likely be going back here any time soon.

5 hours and 15 minutes

Me and my friends always enjoy playing this course and have a 50 minute one way drive to get there. Nice staff, good food and a fun track. However on this trip we played behind a very very slow group. They never offered to let us play thru and when we finished there were 3 holes wide open in front of them. 5 hours and 15 minutes to play the round we never saw a Marshall and no one tried to speed them up. We did not mind that the greens were recently aerated as the overall conditions were pretty good. After about 4 and half hours a round of golf has exceeded an acceptable time frame. We will go back but a faster pace needs to be enforced. We waited on almost every shot not just on the tee box. If not for the very slow pace we encounter I would have rated this course higher.

I hope they can prevent this in the future.

Almost pristine

The course has recovered nicely from the late spring freezes the had hurt many of the greens. There were very few places that still had problems. Otherwise the course is in excellent condition. Watch for Rattle Snakes as we incountered one on the 17th tee box. Luckily he was sunning himself on the cart path so he was easy to see because once he retreated into the grass he was absolutely invisible. Proceed into the long grass with caution.

Nothing bad to say about this course

This course was in fantastic condition. It was the first outing there for 2 of the guys in our foursome. They were impressed with the course, facilities & staff. You are always treated like a VIP at this course. I have never seen the course in better condition. The regular green fees are higher than I normally like to pay so I always look for the Hot Deal on this course. For a $70.00 green fee w/cart & range balls that is a flat out deal. I would recommend this course to anyone. The course offers a variety of hole styles some narrow tree lined with fair landing areas, some up/down hill, great views/vistas and the greens are incredible. This is one of the best public play courses in the state. The staff was fantastic! They truely worked to have your round be one of your best days at any golf course. As for our group it was our nicest day at a course so far this summer. I have already booked another deal there for this Sunday.

The course was in excellent condition but not pristine. The staff was very friendly and easy to work with.

We played from the 2 Plum tee box just in front of the Tips. The course was a playable for our group from there. We played on a Golf Now Hot Deal so it was a great value. The staff was very friendly and easy to work with. I'm not normally a shopper at courses due to the Pro shop pricing structures. However we had a lighting delay getting out so I looked around in the Pro Shop to kill time. I was a little surprised at all the empty shelves and the very limited selection of clothing, hats & other golf items. There was not even one men's rain jacket to be purchased if needed on a bad weather day. But like I said I'm not much of a Pro shop shopper so it really did not make that big of a difference to me

The course is in great condiition and was fun and challenging.

The staff at Lone Tree has done a great job getting the course ready for play. These were the best greens we have seen all spring and the staff is always cordial and workable. We played on a Hot Deal so it was a 2:50 tee time and it was a 5hr. & 10 minute round due it part to the late afternoon start. However at $46.00 total it was workable as it seems like most rounds these days are taking 4hr. & 45 minutes. Great day and the course was in excellent shape so I would reccommend this course.

2/3's of the Course is Dead

We were very disappointed in the condition of the course. Sure we got a $29.00 green fee but we felt like it wasn't worth $10.00. The info that we received was that the last snow in the area down there caused all the damage. We were told that the fairways were rough but that the greens were good. We however thought the greens were awful but it was true the rest of the course was worse than the greens. This is very unfortunate for the course as we have always enjoyed making our 2-3 trips a years down to the course from the Southeast Metro area. We will likely not go back again this summer. We find it hard to imagine that the course could recover from this much damage in one summer. If you are thinking of going call the clubhouse and discuss the current course conditions before spending your money. We won't consider going back until the end of summer and even then we will call ahead to check on the course condition. Better yet we will read the most recent course reviews

Starter difficult and some greens had rough spots.

When I booked this tee time I called the course as they have 3 nines. I wanted to request the Eldorado/Vista course. I also wanted that confirmed so I did not have to load 3 courses into my Sky Caddie. The lady in the pro shop explained that they leave that up to the started but placed a request for this course on our reservation and said we could call back and confirm. I did call back the day before and she did confirm. When we got to the course the starter was difficult about sending us out on our confirmed course. He also question why we thought we were good enough golfers to play their most difficult course. Finally he assigned us there and when we started we realized there were 2 couples ahead of us and the women were slow we waited on every hole. We wondered why he would question our ability to play that course on a crowded Sunday morning but would send 2 women off ahead of us to slow down play for the rest of the day. We stil liked the course but there were some very dry places and dirt spots on some of the greens. This however is some what normal for spring golf in Colorado. We had a nice round once we got past the starter and we will go back as well as recommend the course. The dry spots will get better just be sure to call and confirm your course and hold your ground with the starter.
