This is a great layout with great views but the poorest on-course supervision in the game. It takes 1-2 hours longer to play here at just about any time you play. You have very very poor players allowed to play from the tips and can't come close to breaking 100 while holding up every group behind them. Long gone is the course marshaling it takes to make sure the pace of play is even slightly decent.
We waited on every shot every hole and barley finished starting at 11 am.

The course is in below-average conditions everywhere. Not sure how they attract golfers to this place with the extremely poor conditions.

Great layout, great greens, good fairways when it rains and the absolute worst tee boxes on planet earth.
They promised to work on them years ago and never did.

Anyone and I mean anyone that says the pace f play is OK here is out of their mind.
While this is a great course with a great staff, the pace of play stinks. Everything that makes this place a good course is destroyed by 20 hdcprs playing the blue tees and slowing play for everyone else. The marshalls are doing their best but they are outnumbered by the complete dolts that think they should be paying the back tees.

For 2 months before and after the Farmers it is noisy and a construction site putting up all the bleachers and corporate-only tents, public viewers be damned. My buddies invited me for my 5000th time playing at this place. I always feel sorry for all the people that think they will play on the ocean when only a couple of holes are actually ocean views. You will probably take 3 shots to get to every hole even if you are a low handicapper because of the remodels, good luck. I'm not gonna complain about waiting 15 minutes on every tee box because it was free.

They have done a great job on this establishment BUT they do not enforce rules so most suffer. I find many on all courses today have no idea what golf etiquette even means. It is up to management to teach those golfers. Unfortunately, the rest of us suffer because of it. There is no excuse for 3 groups to be on any tee box and it happens here a lot.

After speaking with the nutcase I was paired with I asked for my own cart on that basis, I was told to pay more money. I explained this to the guy but he forced me to ride with this nutcase.
Then we teed off and the greens looked like the moon with ball marks every 6 inches over the entire putting surface, and it didn't end. Every green was beat up. I missed 5 putts on the front because I hit a ball mark even though I fixed my line.
Will not be renewing my card, no freakin way.

AS USUAL, THIS COURSE DID NOT HAVE IT TOGETHER THROUGH GOLF NOW.
I WONT USE GOLF NOW AGAIN.

EVERY time I book this place through golfnow I get lousy times or they send me out as a single between slow groups. This is the 5th time in 2 years this happened. I don't think LaCosta cares about times payed through golfnow. I booked with a 3 some so the pace would be steady. When I got there they said the 3 some I booked with wanted to play alone,WHAT? There were no other groups for an hour so I went out by myself. Place was punched, not told that. Bunkers were dirt hard pan, lousy. Waited 10 minutes on every hole and sometimes longer. Course was not in good shape either. Ended up skipping the entire front 9 and went to the back 9 and waited some more. # groups on 18 tee. What a waste, never again.

Place has always had a great layout and crappy maintenance. It's really a shame they don't hire someone with vision and talent to maintain this course.

The course does not in any way resemble the cover photo. This picture was taken 15 years ago and would be considered false advertisement. One of the best layouts around but the conditions have greatly slipped. All the staff here are great but the course conditions are average at best.

You're walking on an art piece of the same man that designed Augusta National. Why this course is not worshiped by these locals here in Northern California is baffling. This course should be respected as living history and restored to it's former glory in it's original design. It is insane listening to people bash it.

This once great course has been turned into some monstrosity only a tour pro can play and RARELY in good condition. This City has sold out the locals to the PGA and USGA. Even if you get lucky and find this place in decent shape it is almost unplayable. If you're not playing with construction noise on every hole you'll need ear plugs for the constant bombardment of F18's flying over. You'll pay 240 bucks to walk and I guarantee it wont be worth it. The city and administrators have destroyed this once great golf course.

This golf course has slipped from what it used to be. I used to make the drive from my Monterey vacation up here twice a year but not anymore. Not worth the drive as the poor conditions and slow play make it not at all worth my time.

For the life of me I can not understand why you would re-do a lousy layout. It was right there. They had the money, the tractors, the time and they remade the same stupid layout with the same lame design. WHY did you not level out all the lousy fairways? In my opinion this was a HUGE missed opportunity to really do something special to an old local course. Not change it, but improve it. It can still be done IF they want to do it.

The people seem great but the course is hype. I birdied 1 and 2 and shot 76 so this isn't sour grapes. The course is way over designed and does not reward the good shot. In fact a good shot is sometimes penalized by rolling 50 feet past and off the green. The average guy will shoot over a 100 and lose 6-8 balls and that's not a joke. The problem with this place is that they shoved holes into places they never should have been built on. My advice is to pass this place and find something that when you hit a tee shot you can see it land, that is unless you just want to get drunk and play golf, then it's just fine and kinda fun. NOTE: Take 2 dozen balls in that case.

NOTE TO COURSE STAFF: SLOW THE GREENS DOWN A LITTLE SO IT'S NOT LIKE PUTTING ON CONCRETE. IT WOULD BE FUNNER FOR SOME HIGHER HANDICAPPERS.

the picture shown by this course is over 15 years old and misleading. while the course has a great layout the conditions are average at it's best time.

I booked the Champions course but was pushed onto the so-so resort course when I got there. Complete waste and I was promised the other course. So before you book call and make sure you dont get pushed onto the legends, it's a boring play.

This place is nice. Good design and good greens. If yer a non local you will 3 putt on many holes. If you don't know this course you can add 5-10 strokes to your round whether yer good or average. Greens are all local knowledge.

I've played all of the best in Vegas. This course is best. Wynn at $500.00? Not even close to this course.
