The Club at Starr Pass - Rattler/Coyote
Played On 11/15/2023Outstanding Forced-Carry Golf!
What a track! If you don’t like the challenge of forced Carrie’s, pick somewhere else. Course conditions were outstanding, except they lost a star for the tee boxes. Not good, and several needed rolling to level out. But overall, a great day of golf! Can’t wait to go back.

One of my favorite courses in Denver for 30 years. It’s turned into a goat track. Worst turf conditions I’ve ever seen at a quality golf course. Winter kill everywhere, but their weather hasn’t been any different from dozens of other courses on the south side that are in gorgeous shape! So disappointing. Will probably take until next year to recover.
Colorado National Golf Club
Played On 04/19/2022Great track, conditioning poor right now
Gotta’ get water on the golf course, folks! I know it’s spring in Colorado, but today wasn’t a real enjoyable round , as the turf is extremely spotty all over.. and greens aren’t recovering as fast as they should with the mild weather we’ve been having. I’m probably being too hard on the course, but I’ve come to expect better from my alma mater! Keep working hard, and Go Buffs!
Meadows Golf Club
Played On 06/15/2021Gotta get water on it!
Great golf course, as alwAys! Love The Meadows! But pace of play was bad today, and the course needs WATER! Greens are really good, but almost impossible to hold in many cases. Fairways and rough both need help.

Played On 09/06/2020Great classic course, conditioning iffy
Tee boxes really bad. Otherwise, decent. Bizarre checkin process. Allow An extra 15 minutes to deal with the strange cart to range and back before your round. Still always a fun day of golf at H Hills!
Meadows Golf Club
Played On 05/03/2015Looking good, as usual
The Meadows is a reliable, consistent standby. You can "always" count on it to be well-maintained and well-run. Two things made it tougher than usual this past weekend: Greens still bumpy from aeration (should be good by this coming weekend,) and the chilly wind seemed to be blowing in our face all day! Played 300-350 yards farther than normal. Otherwise, a pleasure!
Deer Creek Golf Club at Meadow Ranch
Played On 05/29/2014Outstanding golf course, good value
Other than shaggy greens - gotta' mow those bad boys - a delightful round of golf! Course is in great condition.
Red Hawk Ridge
Played On 05/03/2014Course is good, conditions sketchy
Was a little disappointed in the condition of the course, as the fairways and greens were not what we'd expected. Fairways were spotty and haven't grown in yet. Probably should have been expected with the weather we've had. But the greens were poor, considering they were aerated three weeks ago. Still very bumpy and inconsistent. Rates should be discounted a little further until conditions improve. This is a nice, but pricey, golf course at best, and not really worth the $60-70 range in marginal condition. Wouldn't recommend unless you wait for improvement or better rates.
Sleeping Indian/Cottonwood at West Woods Golf Club
Played On 9/8/2013Still a nice track!
Started playing here in the late 90s, but don't get up to Arvada much anymore. Love the original 9s - Sleeping Indian and Cottonwood. Silo is a tricked-up joke that never should have been added. Course conditioning is good, but it's gotten a little pricey to play here in the last few years, at least for those of us on the south side. Definitely recommend if you can get a discounted tee time.
Lone Tree Golf Club & Hotel
Played On 6/8/2013Pace of play killed the round
Course is in phenomenal shape. Greens are perfect and lightning fast. Maybe that's why the pace was ridiculously slow. Gotta' get a marshal out there! I quit after nine.
Nine Hole at South Suburban Golf Course
Played On 4/7/2013Greens slow and shaggy, still tough
Played a week or so before scheduled aeration. Greens needed cutting and rolling, but were decent. Fairways definitely needed a shave, as there was very little difference between them and the "rough." Kind of a City Park feel, not that of a true championship golf course. We paid the Golf Now discounted rate, which was appropriate for the conditions.
Colorado National Golf Club
Played On 3/16/2013Course conditions excellent for early season
Greens were smooth.. true.. and consistent speed. Rest of the conditioning very good for mid-March. We had one issue that was frustrating, and it had to do with communication. I selected Colorado National for course quality, but also because there were no cart restrictions noted on GolfNow, as they were noted on most of the other courses that were "path only." We have two guys in our group for whom this doesn't work. Then, our check-in pro forgot to mention they were "path only." We eventually had to call the clubhouse and get someone out to disable the GPS so we could go on the fairways. Inconvenient and really poor communication. Once the issue was resolved, however, delightful round on a championship caliber course.
Green Valley Ranch Golf Club
Played On 10/20/2012Fall Season is a fun round
Always a tough test, GVR gives you a little break in the fall. The fescue is still pretty high, and all the par threes will get your attention, but the added run from the fairways makes it more playable. Was surprised the greens hadn't quite healed from aeration yet - supposedly done three weeks ago. In any case, bring your "A" game, and this is one of Denver's best tracks.
