About

I have a solid all around game, I usually try to play to about 6700 yards. A loss of yardage over the years has forced me to develop a very sound short game. I am quite accurate off the tee, and still maintain crisp iron play. My lifelong love of the game has not diminished, and I hope to continue playing as often and as long as possible. My handicap fluctuates from three to six or seven... Which prompts me to get out to the range and fix it. To return to scratch status I need to move up a tee box...I've already stopped playing over 7000 yards. So giving up even more is very difficult to do.

Disappointed

Second time playing this course. It has slipped badly in the three years since first visit. Although a "Holiday" weekend,, restaurant was not open, No on course beverage cart, only a lightly stocked halfway house at the Ninth crossover. Very rocky sand traps, rough tee boxes, and "shaggy" most everywhere that it shouldn't be. Greens were good,, being able to make a putt saved the round for our foursome. We felt Price was too much for what we experienced. Course rating in Michigan seems way to high.

Finally Open, worth the wait

This course was originally set to open in 2005-06, after the economy totally tanked it was abandoned It sat for several years as just a well sculpted field full of weeds before Lennar took over the property and prepared the course once more for the lime light. Job well done... 7000 + from the tips, wide driving lanes, huge sand traps with outstanding sand, Things get dicey as you near the greens, elevation, slopes, tilts, bumps and humps, Just how good a short game did you think you had??? A few forced carries, and a few blind shots "all good" Not a course for walking unless you've been practicing to walk coast to coast. Bring a few extra balls.#Sacrifices must be made# you may need them. If you have a good range finder don't leave it home.
Clubhouse is not up yet, restaurant is also not available.
Pro shop is a fold up table by the practice green. you're NOT here to eat and look at shoes Right now It is GOLF, GOLF, GOLF go play
The greens run true and smooth, they are also brand new so a less than perfectly spun/placed shot will not hold.

Correction for one of the "Tips"
The water is reachable on hole #15 as it is a short 4-par The sand/pond on 13 comes into play but probably not on the tee shot.

On the TIpping point

First time back in four years Course needs a rest.
Fairways most well mown decent turf firmness to hit from.
Rough was totally too deep for any player. In my paired group a dozen balls must have been lost, pace of play suffered tremendously because of this.
Sand traps are numerous, but not consistent
Greens had nice pace, hammered from overplay, they need a rest.
unkempt areas around all ponds and lakes, you will not find your ball if it bounces into border grass.
If you hit it down the middle this is a fun track to challenge yourself on. Sound strategic play is rewarded.

Old Florida Golf

Harder Hall's heyday was long ago. It was part of the "Florida Swing" and Many of the games greats played here . Today the course is quiet, serene, and inviting you and friends to come on down and have a good time. Not long, or even very tight, the wonderful routing of the holes lets you meander around back and forth. My wife and I play a lot of different courses, we find ourselves returning to this grand dame, time after time... For the price on Golf.now it is certainly worth the look. GO PLAY. Located in Sebring, just off hwy27, there are many restaurants and amenities near by... The grill room serves up a $4.00 hamburger, pretty cool HUH?

Donald Ross did not disappoint

First time in Miami area, the wife and I decided to try the venerable old Biltmore, designed by renowned architect Donald Ross. Visually the resort is stunning, beautifully maintained, and BIG. The course measures 6800 +- which is long enough to require some thinking. Gps on carts makes strategy a breeze. Sand traps are outstanding, fairways, fairly lush, but firm, The greens are large, with an excellent pace and a lot of subtle breaks. There are a lot of Optical illusions, built into the design, I.E. sand traps fifty yards in front of the green, when it looks to be right next to it. Some carries look short, but are actually perhaps two clubs further... Domed greens, where you don't see the back plateau... My wife and I had a most wonderful day. The course was "VERY" busy, Pace of play was excellent, even with walkers ahead we were never out of position, or felt pushed. Paired with a single named Mike, whose girlfriend Lexi rode along, they were an outstanding pairing, our Thanks to them for all the laughs and guidance on the course. GO PLAY this Old beauty.

Wonderful surprise

I last played Metro West in the early 1990s... I had heard they recently renovated the entire course, so went to check it out. The new greens are very firm, roll beautifully, and run true. In order to hold them you need a very good short game. Sand traps have new sand, still a bit deep but will settle. The rest of the course was outstanding. Fairways are a little soft from watering, but beautiful. I didn't notice any difficulty with any rough (I play down the middle) There is still a little cleaning up to be done on the edges, so don't play on the edges. I was paired with the three best fellows I could imagine, and we had a wonderful day. Pace of play was slow due to the one four ball directly ahead of my group, we skipped a short hole and went around them... that solved that problem. I rate the course nearly pristine....If you are in the Orlando area.... try the newly re-opened Metro West.... GO PLAY

Extremely Pleasant course

My wife and I enjoyed the most pleasant round we could imagine... The course is in "Nearly" pristine shape; some sand traps need attention. Tee boxes were slightly shaggy as well. Pace of play was great early on, but slowed as we neared the finish. Not often is a course in better shape than my previous visit; this course is. The course is not long, around 6400, but the course offers elevation changes, side hills, up hills, down hills, side hill up hills, down hill side hills - you get the picture. Bombing it off every tee will only lead to higher scores.. Greens are not huge but you need accuracy due to undulations; you need to put the ball where the flag is.. Value was excellent. Weather was excellent, my companion was excellent... GO PLAY!!

Nearly Pristine

Two years have passed since I last played Eagle Creek, I am pleased to report the course is being maintained in nearly pristine conditions... Due to over seeding carts were limited to paths and rough.... Thus the fairways were perfect, a bit soggy from watering... the greens were very tricky to read, and new sand made some traps very difficult. Excellent routing of holes, a fair challenge for any level. Actually from 13 on to the finish it is a very neat group of holes. Be very proud if you birdie 18, or even save par. A tee time mess up was handled professionally and quickly and only required a ten minute additional delay. We played at noon, yet there was no beverage cart, and only two vending machines for refreshment. Otherwise no problem.

Changes for the best

I haven't played Royal St. Cloud since the spring.... Playing the Red/Blue nines I am very pleased to announce changes have been made. On the red nine some mounding has been lowered and moved, Sand traps have been re-designed and new or better sand added. Landscaping has been redone and is beautiful; much of the brush and heavy rough has been thinned or eliminated... I found the Red nine to be in great shape and nearly pristine. The Blue nine has also undergone some changes, A general thinning and cleaning up of brush and heavy weed areas.... As I made the turn from #1 to #2 I came across three deer grazing .... This alone made the day great. The Blue has had some significant re-bunkering, sand, reshaping and general cleaning up that has made it gorgeous... I found the tee boxes to be very good, fairways firm but not running very much (watering) and the greens to be firm and quite quick. I played on a very windy (35mph +) cloudy day, and I loved it. I'm looking forward to getting back up there just as soon as I can

Quiet, pleasurable round

my wife and I decided on a small road trip... Hadn't played CCMD in several years. Wonderful conditions, wonderful routing, pleasurable golf for all levels. Course is being maintained in very good conditions... Pace of play was excellent, we played just after 11:00am and were nearly alone. Each hole brings its own personality to the front, no two are alike. Overall a very pleasant round..

excellent challenge

I have to temper this review a bit.... the day I played I was very rudely told by a maintenance person a cart path only rule was in effect, neither the golfnow.com site or the pro shop indicated this prior to teeing off. this makes a long day as walking to the ball on several holes takes quite a while.... I decided to leave after nine holes... I plan on returning, as the course is generally a lot of fun to play. A good design, usually very well maintained with large tricky greens. I'll come back when the course is open to carts.

pleasant surprise

Have not played Lake Bernadette in quite some time... The wife and I decided to take a chance.... Course is moderately challenging, fairly wide open fairways, some forced carries... Greens were a bit bumpy, some soft areas from either rain or over watering.... Most surprising aspect was how the home sites have filled in, clearing away what could only be called "Jungle" So very pleasant scenery, very pleasant day, well stocked pro-shop and wonderful grill....

As expected

I had been looking forward to playing this Nicklaus Signature course for quite some time, I was not disappointed. I rate the course as maintained-plus, not quite pristine but very nice. as expected the greens were very quick and had very subtle breaks. From the tee to the green it was moderately challenging, as long as you hit your ball in the short grass. around the greens the challenge builds. very well placed traps, great sand, and a little wind makes this a very good choice for any player level. The island green par 3 is exceptionally nice. Some forced carry over wetlands. The course has enough yardage for even the biggest bomber. But length does not assure a good score, important to hit it in the right approach location. If you are in this area, go try Grand Haven.

Changes Look Great

It has been a while since I've played the National... Big surprises, Elimination of two holes with addition of two new ones. The Course as expected is in very good condition, not pristine, but it isn't (Season) yet. I'm a bit of a hard reviewer, so getting a very good from me is difficult. #2 and #18 have been taken out, with #10 and #11 being added. Ten is a long par 3 that sits right there and says come get me. Eleven is a wide open, long par 4, a little tricky to hit in two. You now finish on the long par 5 (old #17). The greens were in excellent shape and I made three very lengthy putts attesting to the trueness of the surface. Further trimming on the course edges would enhance the beauty, as the brush and weeds are too thick. The deal I found on GolfNow was excellent. I had very few other players to contend with. Of course the restaurant, pro-shop, and outside staff were top notch as always.

Returning to pristine shape

My wife and I decided to take a day trip... I had played this course four years ago when it was known as Golden Hills. It was good, but in decline. Under the new name, a revived course is appearing. Two holes had their fairways almost completely stripped, re-shaped, re-seeded and are going to be excellent in near future. The course is a (BIG BOY) course, bring your better game, plan your shots and execute, execute, execute. Greens were excellent, with only minimal bumpiness. new sand had been added to quite a few of the traps making it a challenge. some elevation changes, side hill lies etc. make it a challenge ... We had a meal after, it was wonderful, inside a lovely old clubhouse. Inside staff is great and very friendly.
Outside staff are top notch.

Nicely presented

Providence has had problems in the past (poor green conditions) that was not evident this time. My wife and I played a late afternoon round, We only needed to hop around a foursome and had the place nearly to ourselves.. Wonderful playing conditions, greens were maintained with moderate pace. Some sand traps had been recently filled with new sand (a nice surprise)... fairways were mowed very nicely, the turf allowed most shot options.. Plus the restaurant provides excellent food after the round. GO PLAY

Outstanding Challenge

During a recent visit to lower Michigan my wife and I came across Grande Golf Club on Golfnow.com. We were a little concerned when the pro shop personnel were surprised that my wife intended to play... "Most women find it too challenging" was the comment. And yes it is a challenging test of your golf skills. We found the design to be superb, the greens to be huge and difficult, the fairways to have humps, bumps, and side hill challenges galore. Because of the mature woods surrounding most of the fairways accuracy was at a premium... In short we had a "HOOT" my term for a great day. Played on a cool, crisp, bright sky Michigan day. Pace was excellent, course conditions were outstanding... I rate it nearly Pristine. If you are not completely jaded by this time of the season, check out this course.

Two for one

My wife and I discovered Royal Scot as we travelled through lower Michigan. Played on a very cool day that repeatedly threatened rain. An older mature parkland design with very pleasant routing and moderate challenges. at the fifth hole you pass through a tunnel and are transported to Scotland... Six through 14 are Links style golf, and superbly laid out before you. My wife and I enjoyed this course very much. The greens were large, humped, and quick. The fairways were prepared in outstanding condition, the rough was lush and difficult.. You pass back through the tunnel to holes 15-18 the challenge continues as these holes are an excellent finish to this fine design. In short Royal Scot offered an extremely wonderful experience... It did rain off and on, making the experience just right....and if the rain became too much, they have a bowling alley connected to the course.. How cool is that..??

Surprises ahead

Have not played this course since early in year.... I was stunned to see they have done a little course re-design. Adding new tees on #8 which I estimate will had 60-80 yards to the 474 par 4, what is a difficult hole will now be a real brute. rebuilding the ninth hole from the landing area in scraping down a mound moving and adding sand traps..moving a few things around in other spots. This will keep this course in fine competitive shape for years to come. Played on a very hot day... The wife and I were very pleased to find the green, tees, and most (#9) fairways in great shape. We did not play the back nine due to the heat and fatigue. Course is almost always in fine shape.... Restaurant has a wonderful selection... the staff is very friendly
