Royal Ka'anapali
Played On 03/11/2024Conditions were good and most of the course is visible from the tee. Greens were quick and rolled true, but pins were cut into the slopes making it tough to hole putts. Bunkers had good sand, but tended to plug if you hit near the edges. Course could be brutally tough with heavy winds. Range is too short to hit longer clubs. No beverage cart on the course. Shop staff was less than helpful, but the starter was personable. Overall, it was a good experience and the views are amazing! Fortunate to have found a good discount on GolfNow and been paired up with good people.
Tempest Golf Club
Played On 11/21/2020Fun course where local knowledge is worth several shots
Conditions were really good for November. Greens were consistent and true. Don’t get above the hole and on most holes, long is not good. OB creeps into several spots where you might expect to see red stakes instead. Note missing the Par 5 13th long, or left by just a yard or so will kick OB. It’s a fun course with the elevation changes that you’ll want another shot at. Only draw back was my cart’s GPS wasn’t working which made it difficult to figure out where to hit it. There’s a few blind tee shots where you need to play to the proper side of the fairway as slopes will kick the ball into a penalty area.
Saw the Beverage cart at least 3 times. Cart girl had personality which was fun.
Brett in the shop managed working me into a group on a Saturday morning as I was a single.
Pace of play was a little slow on the front, but we made up some time on the back. 4:45.
Will definitely look to go back and improve on my round. The large American Flag flying over the property is a nice touch.

Played On 10/30/2020Perfect afternoon
Course was in great shape and the deer were out in full force. The views of Lake Fork were amazing on a calm, sunny afternoon. We had the course to ourselves. Greens were in great shape and had decent speed.
Layout is pretty straight forward so trust what you see. If the wind is up, I’m sure this course will give you all you can handle. Several greens extend out into the lake on peninsulas.
Shop staff was pleasant and helpful.
The range was only open from the mats. Putting green and chipping area is smaller so can be crowded for warmup.
Saw the beverage cart at least twice which was nice on a fairly empty Friday afternoon.
Worth the hour drive from East Dallas.
Mystic Dunes Golf Club
Played On 07/03/2016In need of love
Hadn't played the course since 2004 when it was pristine. Very disappointed since the layout has so much character. Green surfaces were pitted and some areas had no grass. Downhill puts on greater than 4% grade would stop half way down. Fairways were spotty. Fortunately, they were offering an Indepence Weekend discount. Disappointment was really created when I asked about course conditions and was told "no one has complained". The pro shop told me a 3rd party vendor takes the calls. Beverage cart girl was friendly and do not drive during shots. Diamond D Reaorts needs to put some money into this layout and at least get it to muni conditions. Range and putting green were in bad shape as well. With so much good golf in Orlando, I may never make it back to Mystic. If you can get on for $20 and just want a quiet place to hit some shots, this may suffice.
