Played On 03/09/2023Great course but
Rams Hill is one of our favourite courses down here. This year in spite of having put a lot of money into improvement they are having problems with some parts of the fairways. The layout is awesome. The views are impressive. The badlands on the way down to Borrego Springs are really something to be seen. We will definitely return.
Rams Hill Golf Club
Played On 03/08/2022An awesome course with a few problems
We always enjoy Rams Hill. It has several original holes both interesting and challenging. The staff are terrific and the after golf cookie is excellent. Recently they have had trouble with their source of water which is more acidic than it used to be. This causes some brown spots on the fairways which were not there in the past. We had become used to perfection at Rams Hill so it was a bit disappointing. It is, however not enough of a problem to discourage people from playing there. You will still have a great game, and the drive down through the badlands is spectacular.
Mountain Vista Golf Club - Santa Rosa Course
Played On 03/05/2022A very windy outing
The course is in very good shape. The greens roll true. The layout includes some interesting holes. We were pretty close to the 4 hours and 15 minutes requested. My only complaint was the wind. I spoke to the Marshall on several occasions without any changes.
Shadow Mountain Golf Club
Played On 03/11/2020Short and Sweet
We arrived early and were paired up with two wonderful ladies. I played the back tees tat 5375 yds with a slope of 116 and a rating of 66.1. Clearly a short course.Par 70 (34/36) for the men and 71 for the ladies.. Designed by Gene Saracen in 1958 tHe course has a lot of interesting holes. We finished in 2 1/4 hours without rushing. We enjoyed the experience thoroughly. One criticism I had was that the driving range is right beside the first hole so a lot of the range balls were on our fairway. They should put up a net. There were no GPS's, but the price through GolfPass was very reasonable.. The fairways were a bit longer than a lot of other clubs in the area, which made striking the ball easier. Rough was a bit challenging and the greens broke a lot less than we expected. The speed was around 9 1/2.
We got our money’s worth.
Thank you for taking the time to review us Don4215331. Your feedback is valuable, and we look forward to delivering you excellent service again soon. Shadow Mountain Golf Club thanks you!

Played On 03/02/2020Great reputation but ...
The fairways were immaculate, the greens were 12 on the stimpmeter so very very fast. The layout was ordinary. We much prefer the Celebrity course. The rough out side the fairways was unimpressive. Service and staff were wonderful. The starter was very helpful. Be ready for several bunkers in the middle of the fairway. My recommendation is to play Celebrity instead.

Everything was in great shape except the traps which needed ore sand.

Played On 02/19/2019A great course with lots of challenges.
I always enjoy coming back to this course. It has a very good practice area. I recommend that you spend a lot more time on the putting green than I did. The greens are fast and tough to read. The fairways were in great shape, but the tee off areas need some work. There's a good variety of original holes. The employees were terrific. If it cost less I'd be back here a lot more often.
Mission Hills - Gary Player Course
Played On 02/18/2019Golfer Friendly
This is always a fun course to play. It survived the torrential rain very well. The winter rough is a bit hard to play out of and some of the traps were very wet, but all in alll it was an enjoyable experience. The layout is super and the practice facilities are complete. Greens often ran much straighter than we expected.
Resort at Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort
Played On 03/02/2018Several scenic holes
This is a good average course for the area. The pace of play was excellent when we played. The two courses were full and we had to wait until the last minute to have a golf cart. The driving range needs work, but the practice green was a good idea of what we would be in for. The starter was interesting. We got our money's worth and will probably return.
Shadow Ridge Golf Club
Played On 02/21/2018Love the layout!
Shadow Ridge is a very nice course, in excellent condition. It has several original holes. The greens were quick, but true. It has one of the better practice areas, a beautiful clubhouse and a well-stocked pro shop. I would play here a lot more often if it wasn't so expensive.
Shadow Mountain Golf Club
Played On 02/11/2018Short but fun
It was our first game down here and our first game at Shadow Mountain. The course is not long, and easy to get around. It was in pretty good condition. We enjoyed interacting with others on the course. In general we had a good time and will likely return. It was an excellent quality/ price ratio.
Valley at Marriott's Desert Springs Resort
Played On 03/10/2017A nice place to play
The Valley course was in very good shape. Its greens are in much better shape this year than those of The Palm course at the same resort. It has a lot of interesting holes. The final hole has to be played very carefully because your second shot has an excellent chance of ending in the lake. It is virtually impossible for senior ladies to score well on it. That said, it's a lot of fun to play. The pace was good, we finished in about 4 hours and 15 minutes. We stayed for supper at Fisherman's Landing where the food and service was excellent. Try to find time for the lobster tacos after the game.
Oak Valley Golf Club
Played On 03/08/2017A country course
Each year we like to try a course on the eastern side of the mountains and this year we tried Oak Valley. The environment reminded us of some rustic country courses back home, very very different from what we' é been playing in the Palm Springs area. On a hot day there was no ice in the ice box and took a while to get it filled. They have clearly spent a lot of money building the course but it has no short game practice area. This was particularly important since a lot of strokes can be lost in the dense rough around the greens. If you don't hit down the center you are likely to add several strokes to each hole. We played in the wind which was not easy to figure out. Where the tee off areas and the greens were in great shape, the fairways had very little grass. The advantage was that our drives travelled for miles. Even the locals have trouble reading the greens. We were at least able to get a very good rate from GolfNow. There was no help with our clubs at the end of the game.
The Classic Club
Played On 03/05/2017A course in the top echelon near Palm Springs
The Classic is always a treat to play. It's in great condition and the layout is magnificent. Nobody expects a course like this in this area east of Highway 10. It has a beautiful clubhouse and was built for the Bob Hope Classic Tournament. Play it when it's not too windy. We make a point of playing here every time we come down and are never disappointed. Each hole is a great challenge in a beautiful setting. Watch out for greens with false fronts and fairways which slope towards water or traps. The greens are as quick as any in the area, but they run true. Spend some time on the practice green before your game.
Golf Club At Terra Lago - North Course
Played On 03/03/2017Golf in a different setting
The Terra Lago courses are unique in the area. I prefer the North course, but both have serious elevation changes that are not present in other courses in the area. The first fairway is a bit ratty these days , but the rest of them are fine as are the greens. It would be quite a challenge to play it in the wind. The North course was used for at least one Skins game. Our golf cart ran out of steam on the 13th hole. We had switched it after 9 holes because ther was no ice bucket. I would recommend playing it and using the Red Dot 2 for 1 deals. They have a good practice area. We thought we would stay for the Pasta Buffet, but unfortunately they were full. It looked good and I would reserve ahead of time next time.
Don4215331,
Thanks for the feedback! We appreciate you coming and playing. Come early and get some pasta next time!
Don4215331 thanks for the review. Thanks for acknowledging the hard and extensive work we did this past summer on our fairways. The fairways have shown very nice improvement and we are committed to continue to do the work necessary to provide the best playing conditions possible.
