Glen Abbey Golf Club
Played On 08/12/2022Predictable Quailty
I rarely have a negative round at the Glen Abbey. Some tee boxes were not up to Abbey quality, the greens were a little slower than normal yet still a great outing.
It has been a dry summer and you notice a few hard patches of earth, but this is everywhere this summer.
Fairways in excellent condition, greens in excellent condition, if a little slow (was a hot day and late in the afternoon).
Driving range facilities very good, and staff friendly, if not a little bit less outwardly friendly to the GolfNow crowd as opposed to the regular members, nothing major though.
Glen Abbey Golf Club
Played On 05/07/2022Safe choice
I've played this course alot, I think if you like it you really like it. The layout suits my game, right hand draw.
Greens are super fast and smooth so the ball rolls true, even though the Greens don't look as nice as they play.
Biggest complaint was the super slow group in front that created 3 empty holes in front of them. Second biggest complaint was some of the tee boxes were in rough shape.
Glen Abbey Golf Club
Played On 06/22/2021Great course with a big event feel
I have played Glenn Abbey about 50 times and plan on playing it as much as possible before they most likely tear it down for houses.
This course has a big time golf feel to it that is hard to match in the area or probably Ontario.
The greens are firm and consistent across the course, some of the tee boxes are starting to show some slope from side to side, I am guessing to a lack of future plans for upkeep.
Fairways are in very good condition, really nothing to complain about here if you are not playing good golf as far as course conditions go.
I pack my own food and Gatorade as the halfway house food is average and pricey.
Staff is always friendly.
Enjoy this historic course before "progress" turns it into more housing.
Wyldewood Golf and Country Club
Played On 08/04/2018So close to really good
Greens are in amazing shape, true rolls smooth, a touch soft but still really good. Fairways are in really good shape, a few tee boxes are in used condition.
What mystifies me about this place is the staff and the replay policy.
If we are there, good golfers, proper etiquette, spending money on food and drinks, why is there no replay rate?? The course is not busy. Instead they make you pay full price for the greens fee and the cart, and there almost put off that you would ask if there is a replay rate. I think they are annoyed that they can't remain fully private maybe?
Doesn't make sense. Would spend more money on food and beverages.
Otherwise a good place to play. No beverage cart though.
Lakeview Golf Course
Played On 08/25/2017Sometimes it takes a long time
As a public course accessible to the everyday golfer, you cannot beat Lakeview. Old school parkland layout, great greens, however they have been little fuzzy lately. Pro shop staff are great, however not really a stocked pro shop, they just sell balls, gloves and tees.
What will get you is the 5 or 5.5 hour rounds. No one is ever moved ahead regardless of how slow they play. Watch out for the beginners just"having fun", balls will be flying everywhere.
They really need to address this issue.
Lionhead Golf and Country Club - Legends
Played On 08/13/2017Has seen better days
I used to play Legends 6 or 7 times a year, however this year only once so far. They have reversed the order of the nines for some reason, the signage is confusing now. Several paths are blocked off. The Greens were in poor shape with bare patches and dozens of divot marks. It looked like people had been dancing around the holes with golf shoes. I saw the Marshall once during my 5:00 hour fourteen holes. That's right, left after 13 and that's how slow it was. Told the cart server several times how slow it was, but they couldn't do anything. The group in front of us needed to be moved up a hole at least. A general lack of concern by the course. It seems like the Marshalls are their for free golf and little else. A real shame because this used to be a really good course. Not worth$50, let alone $90.
Lionhead Golf and Country Club - Legends
Played On 05/11/2016Course is gimmicky, especially without a guide
I usually only play the Legends, a true hitters course. The Masters is a gimmicky course, with a lot of blind shots, extreme dog legs and hidden hazards. You could hit great shots, only to be on the wrong side of the green or rolling into an unmarked hazard. The course uses some crazy forced short shots off the tee, to keep you from trying to go for a more rewarding shot. They should either have gps in the carts, or complimentary green guides at the very least.
We switched the 9s to speed up play. Does not seem like it is working. We will have to reevaluate and concentrate on Marshalls doing their job.
