Castle Oaks Golf Club
Played On 03/17/2024Castle Oaks
First time playing this track. I really liked the golf course and it’s a solid layout. Greens were rolling nicely. But, the fairways hadn’t been mowed in a while and were almost as long as the rough on other courses. No roll whatsoever. And the fairway rough and green side rough were a joke. We lost several balls within yards of the fairways and greens. Not good.
Crystal Springs Golf Course
Played On 02/17/2024$115 at this track?
I’ve been playing this track off and on since 1983 and know exactly what it’s worth on its own merit and compared to other regional offerings. I’m also a firm believer in free enterprise, and if the market will pay their rates then god bless, have at it. That said, a $115 for Crystal Springs? That’s just plain laughable. It’s a mediocre, sometimes boring (16-18) other times awkward play. And the conditions are never great. The views and wildlife are gorgeous. Even post-COVID it’s a $75 course max.
Crystal Springs Golf Course
Played On 12/07/2023$109, for Crystal Springs?
You know you’re living in a completely unhinged world when a course like this charging $109. Unbelievable.
Angeles National Golf Club
Played On 09/20/2023Way overpriced
It’s a solid track and a lot of fun, but insanely overpriced for the experience. They need a reset.
Royal Ka'anapali
Played On 05/26/2023Not bad
I was here for 10 days and love to play golf, so I bought the 5 round deal, which basically equates the 1 free round. The Royal is a decent track. Personally, I think the front is the nice 9 and features pretty much the only doglegs on the course. The back is most straight with elevation changes. With the exception of #17 there are no interesting Par 3’s. As mentioned, it’s a decent golf course and they keep it in good condition, although it is worth mentioning they didn’t change pins between days a few times, and this resulted in unsightly frayed holes around the edges. Greens were solid and rolled well despite being a bit on the thicker side. It’s an open track and the elements are the biggest challenge. I’d say it plays longer than the yardage. Staff was courteous and the range is fine. I’m glad I played it. There are some fabulous views in a few spots. Pricing is high for the experience and there’s zero dollar value at $235 a round. This is a $75 golf course anywhere other than Hawaii, and they also benefit from no local competition other than Kapalua.
Mahalo for playing and sharing your review. We appreciate you and look forward to seeing you again soon.
Dragonfly Golf Club
Played On 10/07/2023Solid track but too slow
Purposely played mid commute between LA and Sacramento. It’s a good looking course, big, occasional water and some nice doglegs. Greens recently punched, so no comment there. I like the track. I’d say length is it’s defense. Pace was stinky, which is a complaint often seen about this place, and no Marshall to be found, which nobody likes on a weekend morning.
The Links at Divi Aruba
Played On 12/16/2022Trash for your money
This 9 hole is a perfect example of a golf course with highly inflated pricing that charged absurd rates strictly due to limited availability elsewhere, not because it’s at all worth the experience. Many greens and tee boxes unnecessarily trashy, very short track and medium service at best. The cart guys were super nice, the pro shop lady was awful and apathetic that I was mislead on pricing. $85 for 9 holes of mediocre golf and bad attitude equals a recommendation of “stay away”. Tierra del Sol is way, way better.
Tierra del Sol Resort & Golf
Played On 12/15/2022Great bones, average course conditions
Structurally this is a fine course. Windy,, so work on your knockdowns. The problem is that it’s very clear they’re suffering economically, and unless you get the $65-$95 Hot Deal pricing you’re overpaying for sure. Greens are horribly slow, and are literally as thick as a fairway on a US course. Many greens have other issues as well, so don’t expect to score well that way. But I love hitting it around this course, it’s fun, at $95 or less.
Morgan Creek Golf and Country Club
Played On 08/20/2022Sketchy for price
I used to play here quite frequently, but stopped a few years ago because of unnecessarily below average conditions. I know they’re busier now and have raised their prices, so I thought I’d give it another try. It’s clear they’ve declined to put those new-found dollars into the course, especially the traps. Ridiculous.
Barony at Port Royal Golf Club
Played On 04/08/2022Not right now.
Every course on HH is way more expensive than in used to be, so in that respect Port Royal Baroney is no exception. But $165 for this track, in these conditions, that’s ludicrous. Fairways were in subpar muni conditions, at best. Can they charge that much and get it? Sure. Should they, no way.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the team. Thanks for visiting Barony at Port Royal Golf Club, and we hope to see you again in the future.
Wildhawk Golf Club
Played On 08/15/2021A tad off
Played their course a fair amount. Greens were in pretty good shape, but in the slower side. Tee boxes were very rough today, really rough. Good track.
Whitney Oaks Golf Club
Played On 11/13/2021Solid, challenging and way, way too slow
Group ahead of us had no one in front of them and were 24 off the pace. No ranger in site. Nobody wants to play a 4:50 round early on a Saturday morning.

Sharp Park Golf Course
Played On 04/23/2019What a waste of a track and location
On the ocean, Mackenzie designed, muni owned. What else could you ask for? But my goodness, that literally may have been the worst course conditions I’ve ever played in. The grass on the fairways is literally longer than the rough on most courses. And, they apparently don’t believe in removing the cuttings from the last mow. Shameful for a city to lay waste to a beautiful property like that. Especially in the Bay Area, where the tax base is the highest in the USA. Pathetic.
Staff was super, I feel for them.
Desert Dunes Golf Course
Played On 04/20/2019Fun
Course has a great layout. Greens in perfect condition, well maintained fairways and tee boxes. Traps, and there are plenty of them, were horrible. Very little sand and wet, which is a bad combination. No way to competently play out. Was maybe the most wind I’ve ever played in, but that’s out of their control. No staffing outside of pro shop and range was ok.
I’d play again.
Escena Golf Club
Played On 04/18/2019Good play
Solid track. In excellent condition, nice staff, good price on GolfNow. No full size range, just a midsize net to hit into.
Shoreline Golf Links at Mountain View
Played On 12/30/2017Good bones, terrible shape.
Hadn’t played this track in 20 years. Solid layout, very nice folks, but the track is just beat to s__t. Between the varmints digging holes everywhere and the tee boxes torn up, the greens are thrashed as well. It’s unfortunate, but still a good time. Good value.
Robber's Row at Port Royal Golf Club
Played On 04/21/2017Robbers Row - very nice
Played there twice this week. Definitely my favorite on-island course. Plays fair. Lots of doglegs in both direction. Good length, and good variety. Traps were mostly ok, greens were great, fairways and tee boxes a little beat up. Staffing was very nice and friendly. Range ok. $72 post 2pm fee is fair, would not spend more for this track. It's nice but not worth the $90's and + $100's they charge in the morning.
Royal Turks and Caicos Golf Club
Played On 02/16/2017Nice course, worth the new afternoon rate
Good resort-type track. Mostly generous fairways, greens in good condition. Some challenging holes, but the wind is the main hurdle. I liked it the course a lot. Staff is very nice and accommodating. The new $135 afternoon rate starting at 2:30pm is the way to play this course, it includes rental clubs (very nice TM RSI 1) and a $20 restaurant card. I got in 18 holes, and while I very much enjoyed the experience I wouldn't say it's a $185/round course. No driving range, and like most things in Turks I the pricing is inflated due to lack of other choices. But, I'd play all day for the 2:30pm special with rental clubs.
The Club at Emerald Hills
Played On 01/22/2017Solid course, pricey
Nice course. We'll kept. Super greens. Expensive for the area and competitive offerings. Probably why there weren't many players there.
Bonaventure Golf Club
Played On 01/21/2017Nice course, but slooooooowww
Very nice staff, pretty decent track, but they had a lot of people on the course and we didn't see one darn marshall all day. At one point there was a full hole and a half open in front of the group ahead of us. That's not ok.
We appreciate your feedback and apologize if you felt that our prices were not reflective of the experience. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.
