Meadow Links Golf Course at George T. Bagby
Played On 11/18/2019Always enjoy Meadow Links at Bagby
This is one of my favorite courses, even though it is over an hour away. It is so far from everywhere that I feel like I am away from the hustle and bustle. The layout is links style, and can be quite challenging if you miss fairways. I will always take the opportunity to visit Meadow Links.

This course is advertised as one of the best in the area, but does not live up to the hype. They clearly neglect maintenance, especially in the bunkers. Most of the bunkers are not routinely raked, with many filled with debris. Even the local munis care for their bunkers. I found the greens almost unplayable, with many bumps and bare patches. Although they require tee times, it is evident that many people simply walk on to the course, slowing up play. Their starter should be stationed across the street, at the first tee, instead of outside the clubhouse.

Played On 02/18/2016A Nice Course
I always enjoy playing Maple Ridge. You can tell they really care about golf and golfers. The course is well-maintained. I was a little disappointed seeing they way many members abused the course. The course rules were cart path and rough only. However, everyone was driving their carts all over the fairways, even up to the greens. I noticed that the bunkers were filled with old footprints and divots. It looked like very few members actually take time to rake. The staff can only do so much. It is up to the players to do their part to maintain the course.
Indian Pines Golf Course
Played On 10/01/2015Gets Crowded
I love playing this course. However, be careful with the pace. Even though they take tee times, they still allow walk ins at any time. So, if you book an 11:00 tee time, you could very well find a group on the tee box right in front of you at 10:59.

Played On 08/22/2015Disappointed
I have loved this course in the past. This weekend, however, I was disappointed. We had our tour championship there, and recent rains left the course wet. The bunkers were hard and caked, and were not raked once during the entire weekend. This is very disappointing for a course like this.

The new super has the course in great shape. You won't find better greens. The only reason I don't recommend this course is the management. The course is not well-managed for customers. They allow large groups to take over the first tee, so members and walk-ups have no chance of starting on the first tee box. Overall, there seems to be a "good ol boy" network at play. Friends of management are treated much better than people they don't know personally. Course marshals can be rude and distracting, rather than helpful. I play here 4-5 times a week, and never feel welcome by the staff. I guess if you didn't grow up here, you are considered an outsider.
Saugahatchee Country Club
Played On 06/06/2015Boring layout
I played this private course as part of a tournament. I found the layout to be boring, as almost all the holes were straight, with only a couple of doglegs. The conditions were great. However, if I played this course all the time it would get monotonous.
Lagoon Park Golf Course
Played On 05/09/2015Not a Tournament Course
I played this course for the first time in a tournament. Overall, the conditions were fine. However, the greens were bumpy, hairy, and untrue. They were very slow. The holes had not been changed in a while, and some were uneven and hairy. I usually play fast, well-maintained greens in tournaments, but these really threw me off. I don't hit "at" the ball when putting, but had to resort to slapping the ball to reach the hole. I would not play another tournament at this course.
FarmLinks at Pursell Farms
Played On 04/11/2015Dissapointing
I played here again in a tournament. I was disappointed in the obvious lack of attention paid to the course for a tournament day. The bunkers were hard and packed, with old footprints, and were not raked prior to play for some time. The greens were obviously not mowed in a couple of days, and played very slow and bumpy. Farmlinks has a great reputation, but it was not evident on this tournament day.
Indian Pines Golf Course
Played On 01/16/2015Great Afternoon
This is a well maintained compact course. It is fun to play, but not very difficult. It is a great walking course. The conditions are great, except for the bunkers. They are raked, but don't have much sand. The greens are a little slow. We really enjoyed playing here.
Maple Ridge Golf Club
Played On 10/11/2014Much better now
The last time I played here, I was concerned that the conditions were going downhill. The conditions were excellent this time. The greens were fast and true, and the fairways were excellent. Some holes are quite challenging and blind, so be careful with the layout if this is your first time playing.
Stonemont at Stone Mountain Golf Course
Played On 10/05/2014Will never play here again.
I played this course as part of a tournament. It was the worst tournament course I have ever played. The tee boxes were uneven. The fringe was pocked and rutted by maintenance equipment. The greens were the worst I have ever seen. They were hairy in spots, and completely bare in others. One green had half freshly sodded, and un puttable. It wasn't even marked. The greens were also hacked up with many mower gouges and gasoline leaks. I cannot image paying money to play this course.
Woodland Hills Golf Club
Played On 02/04/2014Don't waste your money
It is hard to call this a golf course. It resembles an abandoned field. The fairways are weedy, rocky, and hardpan. The greens are a joke, muddy, and rocky. The bunkers are just holes in the ground, without any sand. There is no evidence that anyone maintains this course. It should not be in the Golfnow network, and perhaps should not even be a rated course. Buy a round here at your own risk.

Played On 8/8/2013Don't waste your money
This should not even be called a golf course. Much of it is no more than a vacant field. The conditions are so bad it is hard to explain. The greens actually have mole cricket mounds all over them. The areas that are mowed have clumps of grass clippings. What a disappointment and waste of money I experienced this morning.
Lakewood Golf Course
Played On 7/3/2013They ruined the greens
This is a city-owned course, and the staff are not friendly. The maintenance crew comes to work late, and they are always out mowing right at the morning rush. They do not give way to golfers, and mow up and down fairways without acknowledgment of players. They mow greens while players are at approach. They aerated the greens last June 3rd, 4 days before a big tournament. The greens are still in horrible shape because they did a poor job. There are railroad tracks on the greens now. I watched them roll the greens with debris on them.
Meadow Links Golf Course at George T. Bagby
Played On 6/5/2013Surprisingly great for the location
This is one of the better-maintained courses I have played. It is surprising because it is a state course, and a little out of the way. It is a true links experience, with plenty of fairway bunkers. The greens are well protected, so don't think you will be running any shots up. They had 2 inches of rain last night, but the course drained well, except for the bunkers. The greens were some of the slowest I have ever played, which I am not used to. I left 5 strokes on the slow greens. However, they were very well-maintained. Everything was great, including the range. If this course was closer to home I would be a regular.
The Lake at Grand National Golf Course
Played On 5/24/2013Amazing how they do it
It is amazing how they offer these pristine courses and country club service at these prices. This facility is beautiful, and expertly maintained. Everything is close to perfect, and the staff treat everyone like honored guests.
Woodland Hills Golf Club
Played On 5/23/2013Poor excuse for a course
This is an absolutely terrible course. The fairways are hard, with little turf, mostly hardpan and bedrock. The bunkers are Georgia red clay. The greens were recently aerated and sanded, but they did not attempt to remove any sand. The greens were actually white, and very little grass could be seen. Some of the sand was a half-inch deep. The layout is wonderful, and it is a shame the conditions are so bad. Do not make the mistake of playing here.
Fort Benning Golf Course - Bradley Nine
Played On 4/21/2013Neglected
I played this course again expecting the conditions to be improved with the great weather lately. I was disappointed. The course looked neglected and almost like a course in the early stages of abandonment. The fairways were full of weeds and un mowed. The greens were covered with weed pockets and very bumpy. There is hardpan everywhere, even in the middle of fairways. It is hard to image this is a rated course.
Maple Ridge Golf Club
Played On 11/24/2012Good Course
Some of the holes are quite challenging, with narrow fairways. Overall a very nice course. Greens are pretty fast.
