Lake Presidential Golf Club
Played On 04/28/2018Making a comeback
Lake Presidential is a great layout, but had fallen into such bad shape that I was reluctant to go back until I read some recent reviews. The fairways are starting to fill back in and the green are no longer filled with non-repaired ball marks. The course had taken on a lot of rain the day before so the bunkers were washed out, but there were plenty of rakes to make the necessary adjustments. Give the superintendent some more time and some decent weather and this place will be back in great shape.
Maryland National Golf Club
Played On 04/14/2018It had been a while
Looking back at my score history, it had been 10 years since playing Maryland National. I'm not sure why I waited so long. Fabulous course. Great condition. Almost perfect weather (could have done without the 15-20 mph wind). Only negative was the cart kept crapping out on us. We had to change it out after 9 when it wouldn't even climb the hill to make the turn. That won't keep me from waiting another 10 years though.
Eagle's Landing
Played On 07/26/2017Scenic views
The addition of the blended tees made for a more enjoyable round. Overnight rain two days in a row kept the carts on the paths and provided no roll in the fairways but that also kept the ball in play. Lots of placement shots required here. Greens were true. The views on 7 and 10 are spectacular.
Pine Ridge Golf Course
Played On 07/14/2017More memories
This is another course I played growing up and the one that forced me to learn how to hit a draw. It plays longer if you slice the ball. The greens were great. It was a hot day and I was late to my tee time because of some traffic due to storms that had passed through earlier in the afternoon. Those storms, however, did not bother the course conditions (except for the sand traps). The staff was very accommodating of my tardiness. I look forward to going back.
Mount Pleasant Golf Club
Played On 06/25/2017Memories
I played this course growing up so my perspective is a lot different; the trees are taller, the long par 4s aren't as long and the hill on 18 is not nearly as hard to climb. It's still a great value and a challenge. You can tell it gets played a lot, though. The tee boxes were a little rough and, as with any muni, not everyone fixes their ball marks.
The Preserve at Eisenhower Golf Course
Played On 06/11/2017Changes on the way
I've played Eisenhower many times in the past. I used to play in the early morning when I was younger, but switched to later in the day. Until yesterday, it seemed like everyone else had the same idea. Pace of play could be brutal. Yesterday was only 3.5 hours for me and my son due to the heat. We followed another twosome the whole time, but they moved at a good clip, too. Bunkers need to be more consistent (dirt in some, sand in others) and people need to learn how to repair ball marks and divots. The course is about to invest in some changes so I can't wait to see how that turns out.
Thanks for the great review. We are currently working on drainage in our bunkers. Like us on FB for up to date information
Shingle Creek Golf Club
Played On 01/11/2017Re-designed
The course has been totally re-designed since the last time I played it back in 2012. I don't recall the course needing a re-design so I was surprised by just how much had changed. I'd go back and play it again with the new knowledge obtained. Water on 16 of 18 holes so be prepared for that. The greens were top dressed and didn't hold very well on some of the newer greens. That's to be expected (but usually in hindsight).
Celebration Golf Club
Played On 01/09/2017Welcome to Florida
Florida golf and wind do not mix well, especially when you're playing your first round of the year. Too much water. That being said, I would play this course again. The greens rolled true and the layout was good. Some of the lies were a little thin; especially close to the green.
Slammer and Squire Golf Course at World Golf Village
Played On 07/31/2016Best of the bunch
Of the 4 courses I played in and around Jax this was my favorite. Nice views of the HOF tower throughout. Risk reward holes. No aeration. I'll definitely be back.
St. Johns Golf & Country Club
Played On 07/28/2016Will be back
But for the aerified greens this was a fantastic course. I can't wait to get back and putt on true surfaces.
King and Bear Golf Course at World Golf Village
Played On 07/24/2016Thoroughly enjpyed
While surprised about the distance from the WGHOF, my son and I thoroughly enjoyed our round. Staff was very friendly. I'd recommend to anyone.
Hobbit's Glen Golf Club
Played On 04/25/2016Would go back
The Bermuda was not all the way back since it was still April. I'd like to play again with the full fairways. The rough was thick so staying in the fairway is a must. The greens rolled well even though you could see spots of po everywhere. I was disappointed that the lounge was closed after my round. It's s tough course to walk and a cold beer would have been a nice way to finish off a solid round.
Lake Presidential Golf Club
Played On 03/26/2016A little slow
Two groups in front had yahoos playing from the tips. They had no business being there. Slowed the course down by 30 minutes. Needed a marshal.
Mountain Branch Golf Course
Played On 11/01/2015Perfect November day
Hot tee time made this a good value. Twosome that eventually paired up with another twosome after playing through one foursome and one threesome. An "outing" slowed things down and the marshal said there really wasn't anything he could do. The course was in good shape. It's hard to keep the leaves off the course this time of the year, but they did a good job of that. I'd go back.
Compass Pointe Golf Club - North/East Course
Played On 08/27/2015This course could be really good
I was disappointed in the conditions. The greens had been aerated recently, but they should have been rolled to take out the bumpiness. The bunkers were all washed out and hadn't seen a rake in who knows how long. The layout is challenging so the course could be fun to play. Also, I think we had the slowest cart from the barn.
Dear Golfer,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback from your round in 2015. I am happy to report the new fairways and tees on the East look awesome. Added to this, there have been many more renovated bunkers throughout the facility. The courses look great and if you would be interested in checking it out as my guest please contact Michael @ 410-255-7764 x 9.
PS: We have 150 new golf carts!
Baywood Greens
Played On 08/02/2015Always a good time
The only drawback was cart path only. That happens quite a bit here, but that doesn't change the desire to return each time I'm here on vacation.
Thank you for coming out to play. We appreciate your comments. Now that we finally have some warmer weather, watch how much more we improve! On non-rain days, our golf cart restrictions are lifted. See you soon for more rolling golf. :)
