Tidewater Golf Club
Played On 03/13/2020Exceeded expectations.
The layout is very interesting. I particularly enjoyed the back 9-- great vistas, the marshlands, the Cherry Grove inlet. The conditions of the greens and fairways were excellent, and the staff were very friendly. The course was less punitive than I had feared. It is definitely one of my favorites.
Halifax Plantation
Played On 03/01/2020No excuse for this.
This course is in the middle of an affluent community. If a significant number of residents are members, then raise their dues 5 percent, and improve the condition of the greens. The public green fee rate of $46, plus tax is already too high, given the condition of the greens.
River Hills Golf & Country Club
Played On 02/17/2020Not a favourite.
OK, the course was wet, so that was a problem, but the course conditions could not be rated as good. Some greens had what looked to be winter kill, and appeared to be spray painted in spots, Obviously the course clientele do not take care of the greens. There were numerous unfixed ball marks, Also, I found the back nine to be much more difficult than the front --- water everywhere. Golfers with handicaps of 12 or less would find it less intimidating. I (an 18 handicapper) found it too punitive.
Palmetto at Myrtlewood Golf Club
Played On 02/10/2020Pleasantly surprised.
Course was in excellent condition. A few holes offer a very nice view of the Intracoastal Waterway. Good sand in the bunkers. Greens have many subtle breaks. The course is not overly difficult, although offering a decent challenge. It has a fair number of water holes, but it doesn't beat you up -' very enjoyable.
