Dundas Parks Golf Club
Played On 08/17/20179 Hole Gem
One of the best 9 hole courses I have played in Central Belt. A simple opening hole was followed by some testing par 4's, which were of a good length not usually found on a 9 hole course. We played in windy conditions and the 2nd and 5th holes requiring some serious power to reach in regulation. The course was in lovely condition, not too testing but each tee shot made you think. Clubhouse was not staffed but Manager did text me to provide access code before hand which was a nice touch. Will certainly tee up here again.
The West Lothian Golf Club
Played On 08/15/2017Good test
Good test of golf, friendly pro / members and great views. Very friendly club, great value for money. Luckily played it in sunny weather which offered views of the Forth bridges and right across to Ben Lomond - its impressive (nevermind the monument by the first green). Some good, tricky holes with excellent drainage considering the recent wet weather. Fairways and greens in good condition, would certainly play again. Lunch in clubhouse was also good value.
Gogarburn Golf Club
Played On 08/08/2017Pleasant Course
I thought I had paid for 18 holes but told promptly that they have issues with Teeofftimes and it is definitely only 12 holes I have paid for. In the sunshine with the course to myself it was a pleasant course, just too short for me to really enjoy it. Irons off all the tees to make it interesting.
Palacerigg Golf Club
Played On 07/30/2017Decent Public Course
Played this after some serious rainfall the day before. Despite this, the course wasn't too bad, zero run on the fairways which made some holes on the front 9 quite long. Back 9 full of short par 4's which, on a dry day would be easy to play. Great value for money for 18 holes and I would play again.
Gullane Golf Club - No. 2
Played On 06/26/2017Excellent links course
A last minute decision turned into a great one. Starter offers tees, pencils and a complimentary bucket of balls for the driving range which is a nice welcoming touch. The course is not the longest but has some great holes overlooking the coast with perfectly located bunkers making every approach a tricky one. Good sized fairways and not too punishing rough keeps play moving and enjoyable. Greens were a little slow but ran as true as can be. A good test of links golf, would be a different animal to play with the wind up. Will return again to play No1 & No 3 in time.
