Ibis Landing Golf & Country Club
Played On 07/05/2023Copperhead is back!
I had played the Copperhead version of this course many, many times. I loved the layout, but the conditions were horrible.
The new owner kept almost every hole layout the same I. The new version called Ibis Landing. They added a few new Tiger tees, so all the old tees were moved back some on about 6 holes. Also, with the plush grass the course played much longer than it did in the past.
The greens were beautiful, but a bit on the slow side. I am sure they will speed up some as the nature. They are also quite firm.
The fairways are fantastic. The rough is very nice as well.
If you played the old Copperhead course be aware that the holes have been rerouted and some areas that used to be in play and good places to hit the ball are now OB or very thick with grass.
The long par 5 up the hill is now a par 4, which takes some of the challenge away as that tee shot was a beast, but they are using the old tee as a nursery.
The staff was fantastic and very friendly. You could tell they wanted the experience to be top-notch. I will be back.
Valencia Golf & Country Club
Played On 08/17/2019Excellent choice
This golf course was bone dry after a full day of rain. It drains incredibly well. It is in fantastic shape considering all the rain we received yesterday. Roll and bounce on every hole. No cart restrictions. Greens and fairways in great shape. Can’t wait to return after the course reopens after maintainable next week.
Lely Resort Golf & Country Club - Mustang Course
Played On 07/08/2019Good layout. Poor greens
It was unfortunate that this course was the one available today. I heard the Flamingo course was fantastic. Unfortunately, the Mustang course has greens that had recently been aerated and top dressed. They also looked like they hadn’t been mowed the last couple of days. This was unfortunate because the rest of the course was in very good condition. Wish we had known or had the opportunity to play another course on site. This course needs a couple more weeks to heal.
Upper Canada Golf Course
Played On 05/27/2019Great spring conditions.
I was shocked to see how dry the course was. Golf balls bounced on numerous tee shots. My shoes didn’t get wet at all. And I walked with no problem. The course has some winter kill on many fairways and some greens. One green was still closed due to winter kill, but the greens were mowed down already, so the winter kill played no roll in putting. They had also aerated some greens and top dressed them on the back. Again no issues for putting. I will be back for sure. It was a great deal for the dryness of the course. Very playable and enjoyable. A great day!
Upper Canada Golf Course
Played On 06/10/2018Great layout and fun design.
I really enjoy playing this course. The layout is phenomenal and a lot of fun. You need to be on top of your driving game when playing here. The greens are full, but a bit slow. The rough was a bit thicker than I remember, but it was very playable. I had a great time.
Eagle Ridge Golf Club
Played On 04/24/2018What a difference.
I had not visited the course since last summer. What a change after the hurricane struck. The course lost some 700 trees. Many of the tight holes seemed opened up by this change, the course worked really hard to regrasss some of the effected areas, while others were landscaped. There is a whole new tee on the ninth hole that I can’t wait to try out and the other ninth tees were regressed. The greens were receptive and relatively quick. They were very smooth. The course played firm and fast. It was a lot of fun!
Arrowhead Golf Course
Played On 04/23/2018A great course. Lots of fun holes.
I have played numerous Gordon Lewis designed golf courses and this was one of the most interesting. It still had some of his signature designs on the holes, including water to the left of every par 5 green, but it also included some twists and turns I hadn’t seen before. There were numerous holes with sharp doglegs protected by trees. There were more holes that required moving the ball in different directions off the tee. There were long and short holes mixed in well. The course was in wonderful shape. Considering it is the dry season, and it has been very dry here, there was plenty of grass in the fairways and rough. And I mean that in a good way. The greens had decent speed and held shots very well. I will be back.
Charlotte Harbor National Golf Club
Played On 07/25/2017Great layout
The course has a wonderful layout with rolling fairways. It felt very New England like. It was very playable and incredibly enjoyable. I can’t wait to go back and play again. It was well worth the one hour drive.
Upper Canada Golf Course
Played On 07/07/2015Wonderful time
The golf course was in wonderful shape. It was just like a remembered it from five years ago. We played off tees I had never used before. The greens were I excellent shape, albeit a little slow, and the fair aye and rough were plush and well maintained. I would gladly go again.
Mirror Lakes Golf Club
Played On 04/04/2015Another great day
The golf course has all the challenge one could want. You can vary your experience by selecting the tee that works best for you. The greens were slow, but consistent and lush. Fairways played fine. Rough was thin, but for $18 with a cart it was the value of the week.
One of my favortes
This golf course is always one of my favorites when I visit the area. It is just a few conditional issues away from being one of the premiere courses in the area. The layout and shot selections are fantastic.
Stoneybrook Golf Club
Played On 04/01/2015Very solid
Although wide open, the course is in great shape and had the fastest and smoothest greens of my whole trip.
