Very nice

The course was excellent. The greens were hard and fast; rolled true and were pure. Coming off a week of solid rain i was expecting a soggy Mess but the course drains very well. The bunkers were not great because of the rain. The staff had not made it to them, still cutting the grass from a week of storms. My pet peeve for courses are the tee boxes, I really notice tee boxes that are not level. There were a couple of tee boxes that were far from level but only a few. I would play as often as i could just for the greens!

Very nice

I have been playing this course since it was built and opened. I played late afternoon, 3:30ish, and enjoyed my round very much. The tees were okay, the grass was there just cut higher than I prefer. The fairways were very good. The greens were better than previous years. Pure grass, with a little rain and cut tight they will be perfect. The course is basically wide fairways for tee shots but you don't have any safety net after a couple feet of rough. The greens are fairly large but like the fairways don't offer very much safety net for wayward shots. This is a strantz course so it's built for beauty for the average golfer and challenge for the better golfers. If you can't control your ball you will lose plenty and struggle, so if you are below average but believe you still shoot low scores you will not enjoy this course. If you are honest with your game and expectations are appropriate, you will like this course very much.

Worth a play

We were in town on a golf trip. Celebration was our last course of the week. The course was great. It has a quieter feel than the resort courses in the area. The driving range is unique in that you are basically hitting into water with floating balls. The course was covered in green grass on the fairways. The tee boxes were more sand than grass but wasn't a terrible thing. Some patchy rough around greens. The neighborhood surrounding the course was beautiful; houses were nice to look at. The only problem came at the turn when the snack bar was out of hot dogs...out of hot dogs? Considering the price they are charging for them and the margins from said price, it seems they would never run out of dogs. Not a big deal because we rarely get anything at turn but wanted something that day and was limited to only one other option. Celebration will be on our rotation in the future...it is worth the small price to play

Nice

We played white/blue while on golf vacation. The wind was blowing a constant 20, with gusts 20+ so that affected our play, though not the course's fault. The course was good, slightly above average. It's basically a better muni level course. Wide open views not covered in housing. The bunkers were full of sand but not really raked on a daily basis. The greens were smooth and undulating. The course is great for residents but nothing special for vacationers. We wanted a non-resort style course and this fits the bill; we won't keep it on the rotation.

Pretty good views

The holes are interesting and the conditions were very good. The elevation changes are pretty interesting and greens very puttable. This is still just a old school country club and resort players must see members coming out from everywhere in their cute carts. This is a $50-70 course. The pro shop guy was much better today, a very nice change from the day before. The bugs are terrible, even covered in bug spray!

Bad

This review will be poor

The course irrigation system was broken with very little rain. The course was horrible. The fairways were one level softer than concrete. You would injury yourself trying to make a divot. The greens were equally has hard. The grass was brown and crispy, dead basically. I understand you are having irrigation problems...so shut the course down, don't send me out without telling me how bad it is. The course design is good, I like classic playable courses. I would love to see this course green and lush; does it ever reach that level? The resort makes you play this course with any package to help with profits because it doesn't receive the funds the others do. This is basically an old school country club not a resort. They care about the members and resort players are what help fund the place. The pro shop "bro" was very little help and just wanted to hang out with the member on the range. I would have cancelled my reservation at the Inn after the experience but their cancellation policy is kinda a joke.

Very nice

Mystic is a very nice course but I preferred the Sheperds course. The conditions were typical resort level, very nice but played hard by below average players; divots unfilled and ball marks not fixed. The greens were nice with good movement and undulation. The tee boxes were okay, fairly beaten. The holes are very well done and fit the terrain very well. This is a very nice setup but doesn't warrant anywhere near the price point they have implemented. The resort is very nice and upscale but Mystic is not a 200 dollar course.

Perfect

I played this course three days after it opened to the public, the conditions were perfect. Carts were on path because of recent rain but the course drains very well. My pet peeve are teeboxes. I want level boxes cut tight and Sheperds were like playing on carpet. The course is very undulating so uneven lies are guaranteed. The greens were hard and fast like they should be, you could make putts if you got them started on line. This is a resort course so I expect the course to wear fast like the Mystic side. I much preferred the Sheperds course to the Mystic, I didn't think the Mystic was all that great.

Very nice

The course is very nice. The grass was solid, the greens were true and rolling quite quick. Tee boxes were ok, some patchy and some unlevel. The layout was pretty good, some interesting holes and plenty bland okay spots. The course is called the "lake" course, and there is a large beautiful lake but only maybe four holes are bordering it. That leaves fourteen that aren't. No biggie just seemed to catch us off guard that it took until like hole 15 to see the lake. My only true compliant is that every hole notifies you of whether carts are on path that hole or 90 degrees. We had to switch throughout the round and it wasn't wet. You pay to ride your sorry butt around and then have to walk the fairways. Little gripe.

The largest strike again this course is that Tobacco Road is right down the road and much better. The great thing is we got on here for 30 bucks, third or fourth the price of tobacco.

Beautiful

Primland is a beautiful place to play golf. The course tee boxes and fairway grass was very nice. The greens were smooth and true but not quite perfect, which you expect that the price points they demand. The valet at the entrance was nice, the pro shop attendants as well. The practice range was on mats, disappointing, but fine. The short game area was good but didn't notice the practice green until making the turn; apparently practiced putting on the chipping green. The course appeal is the location. The elevation change, overlooks, and contours make this place a must experience. It can be quite tight at locations so you really need to be able to control your ball. The places you can't miss are drastic for sure.

The course was beautiful and built for your camera. Very playable and score-able for above average golfers; could be frustrating for some and make sure to choose the appropriate tee boxes. I loved it, would love to play again, although I don't believe the course itself is worth the $220 price tag. It just doesn't have the perfect grass that price demands, close, but not quite.

Very good

The course is very good. The conditions at the time was pretty good. The greens were smooth and true. The fairways were pretty good as were the tee boxes. The only problem this course had was I had played two amazing courses the days prior which biased my opinions. My only disappointment was I didn't notice the Golfboard until after the round, I would have loved to rent a golfboard instead of a cart but wasn't made aware they offered them. OCN should really advertise them as an option

Excellent

The Grand Cypress - New course is an excellent course. The conditions were great especially for a resort course that is pounded to death. The fairways were nice and tight like they should be. The greens were smooth and true. Valet parking at the door with very nice gentleman. The only disappointment was the course scheduled a 60 person outing at 2:15 shotgun. I had a 2:30 time, which let to over 5 hour round on a course that isn't overly difficult and fairly generous to the average swinger. The conditions and links style was enough to leave the frustrations as an afterthought.

Southern Dunes is a beautiful course. The conditions were excellent. The practice range and short game area is a nice warm up for the round. The carts employ GPS which is nice for someone new to the course. The grass was perfect, cut very tight and smooth. The greens held fairly well considering still new. I really loved this course with the current conditions.

Nothing more than average

I walked into the pro shop having already looking online, at their own public website, and the price was $32, though I didn't book and figured I'd do it at the counter. The youngster at the desk said the price was $49 until twilight at 4. I informed his website said $32 and he said he didn't know and I could book it online if I wanted. He could have just did it while looking at the computer for me, but couldn't care less...he was more occupied with the food he was eating and the friend in the office. That showed me enough about the way the place was run these days.
The course was okay, the tee boxes were rough and cut very high. The fairways were also somewhat high cut but with solid grass coverage with many bare spots. The greens were bumpy and pretty heavily played which is to be expected from a public park course. The bunkers were pretty good, you could tell they have added sand pretty recently. The only complaint about the bunkers are they are all pretty large in size, and never more than two ranks, always on the opposite side you will need them...pretty annoying. The staff kid was enough to leave a sour taste of the entire facility. You think a course that has no one there would appreciate your business...he couldn't care less

Very nice park course

I enjoyed the course. The greens were in excellent condition and the ball rolled true. It's nice when you get the ball on line, the ball has an actual chance of falling in the hole. A few tee boxes were in need of a good level, but they were few.
My only complaint of the course is the lack of a quality system of viewing of the hole for someone who doesn't know where to land their tee shots. A couple of the holes are blind from the tee and the small pics on the card is completely inefficient. On hole #15, there isn't signage on the tee warning you that you can drive it into the first instance of water if you are of moderate length. Use a fairway metal or iron!

Overpriced for current condition

I actually called for a tee time and talked to a human being. Unfortunately he never mentioned the greens still had punch holes. I showed up, paid the above average fee, then walked on putting green with punch holes. The fee was full price, no discount for greens as bumpy as a teenager's face. I felt so bad because I knew you had no chance of making a decent putt your entire round. The fairways were cut high, so no spin was able. The course has amazing potential, so I may try again when greens come back, but not for $53. The front pin placement on #9 is kind of a joke. There is no hole outlines anywhere, not on the scorecard or hole placard. If you haven't been there before, you are given no clue where to hit.

Really enjoyed my round

I played in the morning at foxfire, was so disappointed by condition of course, I left for lunch and decided to try Seven Lakes. I'm glad I did, the course was very nice. I played as a single in the afternoon of a Tuesday. There wasn't a single soul on the course besides myself, in the 90s with high humidity of course. The course was solid, grass cut nice and tight like it should. The greens were smooth and sandy per the area. The course may be just average level for the area, but after the terrible foxfire it made it seem much better.

Nothing special here

I had a free day and the plan was to head to pinehurst area for 36 holes. I figured I'd play both course at foxfire. I played the red course first, and based on the condition of the course, I decided to leave and play somewhere new. The grass wasn't cut very low. The tee boxes required 3/4 of tee to make it above grass level. Fairways as well seemed almost fringe level. Bumpy greens made making a putt very difficult. The pace of play was never going to be great, considering I played as a single. I teed off on time with a senior husband and wife on green. They were obviously members, and every green was practice time for them, would see them drop four balls for putting. A ranger was never seen. The practice range is a marsh hay field. Once was enough.

It is a fair course

I played the West course for the first time in a couple of years. I meant to play the East, but the East drains terribly, so it was closed. The West was a little soggy from rain the night before, so Carts on Path was in effect. This course is not meant for COP, the cart paths are not very close to center of fairways, so plenty of walking was had. The cost of play wasn't lowered for the inconvenience which is a drab in my opinion. The course was fine, the only hiccup is the bunkers were terrible. There was little sand to be had, and most were filled with mushy mud from the rain. The golf carts no longer employ GPS, so bring your rangefinder as the course isn't well marked. The bright spot was there were maybe 5 cars in the lot, so the course was mine! The course isn't overly long or difficult from the proper tee of your ability.
The main problem I see with the Grandover Resort system is there is nothing available online about the golfing specifics. No online tee booking, no online prices listed, you have to call the shop. If they would adapt to modern online system with dynamic pricing and tee time logging, I would consider more often.

Same ol' Tillery

Pretty much the standard condition of Tillery. A couple years ago the greens were completely lost, they are mostly back now. The problem is they are very bumpy, to the point of your putts really have little chance of making past 5 or 6 feet. The tees were not bad, little high. The fairways were average with a couple holes being treated with aeration to try and save. The bunkers were okay with a fair amount of sand. It is a standard, average course. It features a large amount of blind tee shots so you may struggle if you are unaware of the landing zones. The course is not bad for your buddy rounds if you catch a good deal on a website.
I believe the clubhouse was given the bulk of the money the club generated, so the course came in third behind it and the pool.
