Lone Tree Golf Course
Played On 05/16/2020Loving the Bermuda greens!
Played on Saturday afternoon at 3pm. Fairways were well manicured, trimmed tight but soil soft enough to take healthy divots without a bunch of dirt sticking to the club. Rough was very playable so there wasn’t a huge penalty for missing fairways. Tee boxes were fine, some were less level than others but not noticeable enough to make a fuss over it. Playing out of the traps were fine. I was able to dig my club in and get a nice fluffy strike, playing a couple inches in back of the ball without it bouncing up and catching the ball thin. With that being said, some did appear more firm or less kept, but lucky for me I didn’t end up in those ones. The greens are where this course shines. They say all have been re-sodded with Bermuda, and there is for sure a noticeable difference in them compare to the rest of the local courses. I love how consistent and true the ball rolls on them. They’re the most consistent greens through 18 holes I’ve seen around here in terms of how the ball rolls and the conditions of the green. Looking back, I didn’t notice many greens with dry patches or blemishes that shouted neglect from management. I cam tell you that I’ll definitely be playing here more often, specifically because of the greens. Overall difficulty was not high because of how open the course is, particularly on the back 9, but challenging enough for a +10 handicapper like myself. Great job Lone Tree!
