Sundance Golf Club
Played On 02/12/2024Better Have 5+ Hours to Kill
No ranger/player assist in the afternoon means you might get 9 holes in over 3 hours. The course could be pretty good, but it’s just not managed well. Good practice/range area. Ok pro shop. Keep your expectations low and you’ll be fine.
Homestead Golf Club
Played On 09/04/2017Worth The Drive!
I booked this tee time the same morning I played and I'm glad I made the 45 minute drive up the mountain. What a beautiful setting! Course is in great condition, especially for late summer. Weather was perfect. If there is one piece of advice, I would recommend putting your driver away on the back, except for one par 5. Friendly staff puts the cherry on top. Enjoy!
The Ranches Golf Club
Played On 07/29/2017Deceivingly Tight
If you can keep your shots out of the VERY DEEP grass that isn't far from the fairway, this is a fun course. Some of the greens and fairways are a little rough in spots, but overall, the course is very playable, and the layout is straightforward. And for right around $50 on the weekend mornings, it's a fair value. Staff is always very friendly as well. The practice areas are adequate.
Championship at Viewpoint Golf Resort
Played On 11/12/2016East Valley Affordability
If you're looking for a fast friendly straight forward track, here's your spot. For about $50, this is a well kept course, and pace of play, at least on this Saturday morning, was incredible. I played alone, played through about 4 groups, and still finished in about 3 hours. And I was not rushing. Traditional golf, with wide fairways, soft greens, and even a few hazards here and there make Viewpoint a fun round anytime. Especially when you break 80!
Prescott Golf Club
Played On 09/09/2016High Country Classic
If you're looking to get out of the heat, are tired of desert target-golf, and/or want a great value, Prescott CC is a great option. A traditional layout with wide fairways and receptive greens, you will find this course is both fun and challenging, especially if you get into the thick rough. Friendly staff will also make your day enjoyable, ad well as a full bar, restaurant, and practice facility. Take in the views and hit 'em straight!
Apache Wells Country Club
Played On 06/06/2015Great Rate-Fun Course
This was not my first time playing this short, but tight track; and it certainly won't be my last. Always well kept, as this is closed to the public in the winter for members only, Apache Well G.C. winds through the old and new retirement community nicely, with challenging longer par 3s, and a little water and sand to keep it interesting. And for $10+ tax, on a weekend, it can't be beat! The greens were a little shaggy and we saw the beverage cart one time on number 5, but overall a good fun time in the East Valley. Enjoy!
Apache Creek Golf Club
Played On 11/28/2014Get Out Early
Apache Creek is not a 'test' of your golf acumen. But from a variety of tee boxes, you are afforded a fun, flat layout, with better than average greens. The island green is always a nice obstacle in the middle of the front nine; it's also the highlight hole of the track. Be patient with an overzealous ranger, who needs to understand that our foursome sandwiched between 4 threesomes will seem behind. But because we got out early (just after 7), we weren't hurried and finished well under 4 hours.
Not bad for a holiday weekend!
Las Sendas Golf Club
Played On 08/23/2014Shot Maker's Delight
For one of the best challenges in all of the Valley, Las Sendas is a must. From tee to green, you'll find plenty of risk/reward to fill all 18 holes. A well kept facility with friendly, helpful staff, if you're looking to be tested while enjoying some of the best views in all of Arizona, this course should definitely be on your to-do list.
Scottsdale Silverado Golf Club
Played On 08/08/2014Great Value
Silverado is a fun course with lots of opportunities to go low, and also be challenged. Long, accurate driving will reward you with short irons nto most greens, and chances to get home in two on most of the par 5s. Greens are fair, yet have enough undulation to keep tour attention. Overall, a well maintained facility, with courteous staff, reasonable rates and great pace of play. Any skill level, from scratch to 20+ handicap will enjoy this course. Have fun!!!
Foothills Golf Club
Played On 02/14/2014A Little Rough on the Greens
A fun course with some great views. But the conditions, especially some of the greens, were disappointing for this time of year. Many were dried out. Some fairways weren't much better. Bottom line, for $75 (weekdays), you could probably do better.
