Oliver's Nest Golf and Country Club
Played On 05/13/2018improving course
I have played this course many times. It has been taken over by new owners, and some improvements have been made. The traps, that used to be terrible, are now full of sand and very playable. The fairways and tee areas have also been over-seeded and show great improvement.
The greens are in need of some attention. They are very slow, and show some winter damage. I have always enjoyed the layout, with a nice variety of holes.
The staff is very friendly and accommodating.
I will play this course again many times this summer. Hopefully, the greens will improve.
Legend at Arrowhead, The
Played On 03/08/2018Decent course
First time playing this course. Very friendly and helpful staff. The layout was good. Some repetitive looking holes, but I enjoyed playing them all, except for the ones I ended up in sand traps. They could really use some sand. I will play the course again.
Wolf Run Golf Club
Played On 09/10/2017nice track
I find this to be the most welcoming golf course in the area. The staff is very friendly, the course a good mixture of open holes with a few tight ones, the greens are in excellent condition, and the pace of play is always good.
I play this course a dozen times a year, and keep coming back because I find it provides me with the right combination of relaxation and challenge.
Wolf Run Golf Club
Played On 04/24/2017Nice day in April
The course was in great shape for April. The greens were a bit slow, but very green and not too soft. The course played in less than four hours with a foursome in front of us. The staff was super friendly as always.
Foothills Golf Club
Played On 03/25/2017Enjoyable afternoon
We have played here several times now, and find the course a pleasant change from some of the other "snobbish" high end courses we've tried. The layout is challenging, the greens roll true, the fairways are nice, and the staff is very friendly. We will be back to play again.
Club West Golf Club
Played On 03/12/2017Surprising
I had heard some good things about the course, so I decided to try it. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The greens were very dry, patchy, and bumpy........very hard to read. The layout was uninspiring until the last four holes. They are worth coming back for. I would play the course regularly if the greens were better. As it is, I would only play it if the price is right.
Aguila Golf Course
Played On 03/07/2017Nice course
Good layout with adjacent holes making it a little easier and less intimidating. Water is well placed and can sneak up on first-time players. Good fairways, tee boxes, and greens. Mostly dry everywhere else. Great practice facility with friendly staff. Will play it again.
River Hall Country Club
Played On 10/29/2015beautiful course
I played with a friend and our wives. The pace was good and the course was in great shape. The greens were very good shape and rolled true. I enjoyed the day even with 90 degree temperatures.
Sturgeon Point Golf Club
Played On 06/21/2015Easy walk
Sturgeon Point is a well kept, typical up north course. It has short, narrow par 5's with trees in the middle of the fairway to make them challenging. The par fours are mostly doglegs, requiring accurate tee-shots to score well. The greens are medium fast and run true. It was a fun course to play.
The best part was that it was an easy walk.
Magnolia Landing Golf & Country Club
Played On 02/14/2015very nice course
I really enjoyed the course. It was a bit slow, but there were enough distractions around to keep us from getting bored.
The layout was interesting, with a variety of holes and tee boxes to challenge any golfer. Lots of water, traps, and trees to keep you concentrating on your game, and just enough vegetation and wildlife to keep you from getting bored while waiting for the groups ahead to finish.
And did I mention the greens were were very fast and full of subtle slopes. Three putting was common in our group.
Panther Run Golf Club
Played On 02/08/2015great track
I enjoyed the playing this course. The fairways were relatively green for the time of year, the greens were large, somewhat ondulating and putted true, and the 6 different teeboxes were perfect.
The course had lots of water and bunkers, but the wide fairways made it easier to keep the ball in play.
The clubhouse and facilities were excellent and the staff was proffesional and friendly.
Egret Golf Course at Pelican Preserve Golf Club
Played On 02/05/2015dissapointing
After playing some top courses in the area, I asumed the Ibis & Egret nines would be similar. I was sadly dissapointed. The fairways and greens were wide and large respectively, which made the course easier, but not as green as I expected. The tee boxes were OK, but not great. There was a lack of plants, flowers, shrubs and overall landscaping the way you expect on top courses.
I enjoyed the round of golf on its own, it was the plain look of the course that left me dissapointed.
When you pay more, you expect more
Mirror Lakes Golf Club
Played On 01/31/2015decent course
Decent course for the price. The greens were well kept and rolled true. The fairways were green with only minor bare spots. There were just enough hazards to keep it interesting. The layout itself is plain, but the conditions were good for a course in this area.
I would definitely play it again.
Colonial Country Club
Played On 01/23/2015very nice course
Very well kept course in excellent condition. It's a bit expensive this time of year, but a must play during the off season.
Lakeview Golf Course
Played On 09/26/2014great public course
I have played Lakeview many times in the last 30 years. This was my first time in 5 years. It was great to see the many new improvements that were made. There are still many challenging tee shots, but some new forward tees made it a little easier for my wife (a 22 handicap). The greens were still hard and fast, but much greener, and a little easier to put. The sand traps were all redone with white sand, and gave the course a beautiful look. I was very impressed with the makeover of the course......not so much with the hiked up fees, or over 5 hour round.
Thundering Waters Golf Club
Played On 07/07/2014It was a rainny day.......
We began with a 1 hour (heavy) rain delay. We were told that no rain checks would be issued because we booked a "hot" tee-time with Golfnow. As a result, we decided to play in light rain, which stopped after 5 holes.
The course was very wet in spots, and played long from the blues although it was only 5800 yards. Cart path only, made it even more challenging. To our surprise, the greens drained well and played quite fast. The fairways were green and well kept.
I played here some years ago. I noticed some changes were made to accommodate housing and make the course more playable. I did find it a bit easier to play, especially the first couple of holes.
I would play here again, but will make sure it's a nice sunny day!!!
Beaverton Golf Course
Played On 07/05/2014you get what you pay for
Simcoe Shores is a bare bones kind of club. The greens are small, have some small weeds, but are somewhat fast, run relatively true, have some undulations, and were fun to play. There was little difference between the fairways and rough........both had plenty of weeds. The layout had mostly par 3s that played quite long. The front nine was much longer than the back nine and had the only two par 5s on the course. If you want a challenge, play the front nine twice. If you don't, stick to the back nine.
I would probably play the course again, but only because I have a cottage in the area, and it would be a fun day with the family.
I you are a serious (or semi-serious) golfer, stay away from this one. If you are a casual golfer, out for some fun, you might find this one interesting.
King's Bay Golf and Country Club
Played On 06/16/2014nice course
Kings Bay is one of the nicest 9 hole courses I've ever played. It was in great condition and has some scenic vies of lake Scuggog.
Eagles Nest Golf Club
Played On 05/08/2014Too early to play
The course is still recovering from a harsh winter. We played early in the morning in cool and very windy conditions. It's obviously a very nice course, but we did not see it at it's best. The staff was very friendly and organized. The facilities were excellent, as was the course layout. The greens were in good condition, but the fairways had a lot of winter kill.
The course was fun to play, with doglegs, many elevation changes, some blind tee shots, lots of bunkers and overall very good looking holes.
I gave a low "value for the money" based on the time of year. I think that in mid July it might be worth the money, but not in early May this year!
Club at Bond Head - South
Played On 10/18/2013good course, poor value
We played the course in mid-October. It was very wet and cart paths only. It made for a very grueling, tiring round.
The course layout is great. A variety of holes using the beautiful, natural landscape very effectively. The fairways were wide, but strategically positioned bunkers made the holes challenging. The bunkers were unplayable, mostly because of the rain, but partly because of neglect. The greens were slow and very bumpy.
I felt the price we payed using golfnow was a bit excessive and not good value for the experience.
I would only recommend the course if the price dropped to around $80 for this time of year.
Thank you for taking the time to review us. Your feedback is valuable, and we look forward to delivering you excellent service again soon. Aguila Golf Course thanks you!
