Lodge of Four Seasons - Ridge Course
Played On 05/09/2015Lots of elevated tees
Nice course; prototypical "Lake of the Ozarks" course, with lots of elevation changes, holes incorporating water, etc. Rewards straight drives. The fairways are receptive, zoysia grass, so plenty of roll. A few holes are particularly challenging, with uphill approaches to the green. Difficulty is in choosing courses at the Lake, with Robert Trent Jones, NIcklaus, Palmer and Weiskopf courses nearby. The Ridge is of virtually the same caliber; a 15% decrease in greens fees would make it a good value.
Spencer T. Olin Golf Course
Played On 04/26/2015New Management; Excellent Course
I love this course. Arnold Palmer design. It's part of Gordon Moore Park, at one time the dairy farm for the state hospital across the highway. Part of a huge park, so no houses anywhere; ideal for its park setting. Course is challenging; requires every club in the bag. Real values, too - including "all inclusive" deals for seniors, with breakfast, lunch, and 18 holes with cart. Zoysia fairways, so generally in good condition. New management has redesigned the clubhouse and pro shop, so now can accommodate larger crowds with banquet seating for 180 indoors, plus a large gazebo outdoors.
Very fair course, with few hidden tee shots. Most difficult holes are #7 and #15. Includes a par-30 walking course in addition to the championship course, plus good driving range.
Rolling Hills Golf Club - Executive Course
Played On 08/23/2014Well maintained course
Played this course for the first time in 5 years. It's not ideal - don't care for the slope of fairway on a couple holes on the back 9, but it's under new ownership, and beautifully maintained. Course condition was much better than I remembered. Fits a good niche - better than the basic muni courses, not as upscale as better courses. Very enjoyable, and we were made to feel very welcome.
