Cobb's Glen Country Club
Played On 06/29/2018Really enjoyed the round.
From the friendly greeting upon entering the pro shop to the end of a three hour and thirty minute round, the entire experience was positive. I would recommend Cobb's Glenn to anyone looking for a pleasant round of golf. The course was in great shape with nice fairways and firm, fair greens. I will play here again, for sure.
Legacy Pines Golf Club
Played On 02/15/2018Very enjoyable round.
Super friendly staff. Matched up with three very compatible golfers and had a great day. Yardage book included with green fee was very helpful as this was my first visit. Very smooth greens are sloped and present a challenge but were fair if approach shot was kept below the hole. Will certainly play there again.
Links O'Tryon
Played On 05/26/2017Good Course Conditions for an Enjoyable Round
I found the course much improved since my last round here about two years ago and quite enjoyed this round. A lot of work has been done to the course and the results are very positive. The fairways provided good lies and the greens rolled with fair speed. The ranger/starter was very friendly and helpful. I recommend the course for GolfNow customers.
Links O'Tryon
Played On 05/26/2017Good Course Conditions - Much Improved Greens
I found the course much improved since my last round there about two years ago and enjoyed the afternoon. A lot of work has been done and looks like it continues to be done to bring the course back to what it was years ago.
Unfortunately, play seemed very slow even though most of the groups ahead were twosomes. Rangers were on the course but there is little they can do when the course is full. That being said, we still finished near the target time posted in the carts of four hours ten minutes. The weather was nice and the company good so it worked out fine.
The ranger/starter was very friendly and helpful. The same can not be said for the assistant pro or staff working in the pro shop. (The pro was giving a lesson on the range.) Either he has zero personality or our being GolfNow customers left him with little interest in welcoming us so we might spend money in his shop or the grill. Bad choice because we came prepared to do both and did neither.
I still recommend the course for GolfNow customers. The positives of the course outweighed the void in the pro shop.
Thistle Golf Club - Cameron Course
Played On 05/18/2017Very nice course. Enjoyed the round very much.
The staff inside and outside could not have been more welcoming and professional. Very nice start to what was an enjoyable experience all around. I was a single and matched with two others - one of whom was a regular and provided super helpful local information on course strategy. Both were great company. We played in three hours and thirty minutes and never felt rushed. Just nice and steady - thanks to that local knowledge and three low to mid handicaps.
The greens are recovering nicely. The holes were cut where any unresolved damage had minimum involvement with putting. The surface was slow with normal "over seeding and grow out" length "hairy" grass. Our local said the greens are normally the best on the strand and very fast. We left a few short on the slow greens that we probably would have missed long on fast greens so no negative impact on scores overall. I shot 79 and that is about how I played tee to green so quite happy with the experience. I would play Thistle again in a heart beat at GolfNow rates but never at the $124 standard fee. GolfNow made the experience possible.
River Falls Plantation
Played On 03/21/2017Great Day - Beautiful Greens
Our twosome enjoyed a smooth, unhurried four hour round. The fairway grass is still dormant but fairways had been groomed and were very playable. When the grass breaks dormancy the course condition will be five star. The greens were Outstanding - rolled beautifully. Friendly staff in the pro shop as was the starter, who got us off early. Best visit to River Falls ever.
The Preserve at Verdae
Played On 03/02/2017Web.com coming. Work to do.
This is a nice layout with the potential for a great day on the golf course. Very friendly staff and excellent facilities.
BUT they have A LOT of work to do before the Web.com tournament in May or be seriously embarrassed.
Terrible drainage issues - which everyone is well aware of and major efforts have been made in the past to correct. Water just does not run up hill very well. It is as simple as that.
Played dry, the course is great. Played after an inch of rain it is a quagmire.
The greens either were not cut on March 2 or cut at a quarter of inch or so for some reason. Maybe with the long term needs the tournament brings with it. They are thick and should produce a great surface when cut properly. This day they were so long at noon you could stand and see the lay of the grain from ten feet. I don't mean the shine on the blades. I mean the actual grass blades laying to one side. Putts were extremely slow into the grain but fast running away. Not unusual for balls to break out of the hole three to six inches away and roll six to eight feet down the slope or stop four feet short on a ten foot putt - just depending on the grain and slope encountered. That is just golf, I guess. I certainly will go play it again when I catch a HOT VALUE. It can't stay wet forever - can it?
