Otter Creek Golf Club
Played On 07/18/2018Surprise Round
I'm 71 years old so don't hit the ball the way I used to. Got linked to a 3-some including two young guys (mid-30s) and a 60 year old. They were all good golfers (especially one of the young guys so because they wanted to play the blue blocks;I played the blue blocks.Anyway I liked the challenge and really enjoyed playing with golfers above my level who actively were positive about my play. Fun to watch the young guys play the course as it should be played.Fun for me to up my intensity level and try to keep at least close to the guys. All in all a fun day-not just for me but the other three enjoyed the round too. Good to step up sometimes and reach a little. Thanks guys!

One of the first pleasures that awaits you at this course is the friendly attitude of every staff member. The starter, because I was early, sent me out on the back because it was being lightly played at the time and by the time I hit the first nine that track would be clear. Although slowed a little on the back by a threesome,it gave me time to think about how to play each hole since I hadn't been there in about 4 years.
By the time I hit the front nine there was virtually no one there and I could go at my own pace. The course is a brilliant layout and you must think about the approach to playing each hole.Beautiful course plan, wonderful big undulating greens, strategic traps-just a pure pleasure to play.

I've played this course likely 20-25 times on a pay-as- you-play basis and it never gets old. Subtle changes to the tee blocks and flag placements give you a whole different look at a hole-changing clubs, managing the terrain, etc. You learn how to play a hole but then you need to execute. ALWAYS a challenge. Great track;very friendly staff;always a pleasure to play and after 18 holes, regardless of score, for me it's been a great experience.

Regardless of the fact that the season is still early and the greens are aerated it's still a joy to play this course and challenge yourself against the layout.
The staff is unfailingly polite, both in the pro shop and from the staff out working the course.

Played Otter Creek on Wednesday. Wasan't aware that the wind was going to be howling. Changed the way I normally play to accommodate the wind.
Took a whole new thought process on each hole except 8 which is sheltered.
Helped on #4 though-played downwind so drive stopped on fringe-putted from fringe and lipped out for what would have been an eagle.
Pro shop staff very helpful and courteous.

Played Otter for the first time in 2018-and likely the 30th time I've played the course. Being opening day the greens had been aerated and fertilized and the traps were nt at their best but the fairways are rounding nicely into shape and the work crews were out manicuring the fairways and around the greens.
Nice pace of play and a great way to begin my golf season. Otter staff as always unfailingly polite and friendly.

Signed up as a single and was put with a group of three guys who have played together long term-likely in their mid-30s...half my age.
They made me feel more than welcome, made me a part of their group, made my play more relaxed. They scored better than I did but I had lots of good moments on the course. I've played this course probably 20 times and love the challenge every time. Risk/reward a compensating factor. Look forward to playing it again....and again....etc.

Played On 07/15/2014A Good Day
From the first contact in the pro shop to returning the golf carts-a courteous, professional and friendly staff treated us like members rather than guests. The affable starter gave us clues about how to play the first hole, what the expected time of play should be for our foresome, asked us kindly to use proper course etiquette and wished us a good round. The course has always been known for its fine condition and with a national tournament on the horizon the conditions were even above their normal standards. Pace of play was good, except for some twosomes that were allowed out. Greens were large and accepting and ran true and relatively fast. Many holes with risk/reward choices made for some interesting choices off the tee and for second shots. Overall a fine course and a pleasant experience.

Played On 09/04/2013Good Challenge
First time playing this course. Was fortunate enough to be linked with a good player who knew the course which helped a lot in knowing how to play individual holes. One 100 yd. par 3 hole-the rest involved lots of trees and sand with water mixed in on a number of holes on the back. Lots of doglegs to consider and risk/reward choices. Good facility with driving range and undulating practice greens that mirrored the greens on-course. Well-maintained course and pace of play was reasonably good.
Tough to find but a pleasure to play.

One of those courses that, having played it,you will never forget it. Absolutely pristine fairways, lots of sand and water, undulating greens that hold the ball, great variety of challenges. Risk/reward factor comes into play on many holes. Difficult but fair course. Choose your set of tee blocks wisely based on the length of the course. Hole 11 is the only anomaly-just seemed like they ran out of real estate and plopped in a 100-112 yd. hole. But that's a small quibble when there are 17 other holes that make you use every club in the bag. Most enjoyable round I've played in over a year.

Have played here a number of times. The course is always in good-very good condition, friendly staff, excellent clubhouse staff.
I feel that there are no very difficult holes. There are a number of holes that present a fair challenge for golfers who have strong ability. But there are also a number of holes that I think are comparatively easy...especially when they are set up for the variousmembers championships,as they were the day I played. Every hole should present a reasonable challenge to achieve par or better. Too many of them don't.

Try to play this course at least twice a year. With the heat this spring and some heavy rains the gorse is wicked. Waist high in spots and thick. Was in there on 3 holes and there was some savage slashing. It is tough but fair-emphasis on ball placement. Greens were running a little slower than I've experienced before...mainly due to a heavy rain about 2 hours before we played. Pot bunkers plentiful but fair. Always a challenge mentally and physically to make decisions on almost every shot about how you will play it. In other words very enjoyable. Risk/reward is always a choice. A pleasure to play.

I play this course 3-4 times per year for the challenge, the beauty and the beast in it. Hole 4 is a bit too short, and the par 3 on the back with the sand and slope away green is unfair. That's it. I don't even whine about the gulch on the 9th any more. It is a particularly beautiful setting calling for all the clubs in the bag and challenges your ability to bend the ball to make those par/birdies. Lots of elevation changes, sand, water, the works. And the home hole is just plain gorgeous.
Play it!

At $13 through Golf Now this course is a good deal if you want to practice at a course that you havent played before. One member of our assembled group had to pay full cost which at $30 was far too much. Some holes tricked-up to make them more difficult for average players. Not a course I'd recommend playing.
