Sleepy Hollow Golf Course
Played On 08/22/2016It's Ok
This can be a really fun course if you don't get stuck playing a 5 and a half hour round on a Monday late morning. We picked that time specifically because we know Sleepy like all of the metropark courses has a rep for being slow. The Rangers were even nice enough to add two people to the twosome in front of us at the turn so we could sit even longer at every tee. We got a golf now hot deal so it was worth it, but I would never pay the full price to play here, but I really really hate slow play. If it doesn't bother you than you might be ok. The course condition was very rough on the day I played. The fairway is burned out from the drought and the greens looked like they had been trampled on.
Pheasant Run Golf Course
Played On 08/21/2016Update still fun and in great shape
Updating my review from a couple years ago. This place looks great now they got some rain. It isn't Firestone but it is a great place to play a quick fun round of golf. It played awesome yesterday and was in better shape than Sleepy Hollow which I played today and it is probably half the cost and you can play in half the time. Now granted P Run is not the challenge of Sleepy, but my point is it was in great shape and the people are awesome here. Frank is always super appreciative of you visiting and all the girls are awesome. We are regulars and will most likely be back two or three times before the end of the season.
Regulation Eighteen at Shawnee Hills Golf Course
Played On 08/19/2016I'd go back
Fun course with some real challenging moments I didn't have my A game on the front so I am not sure I can completely speak to the difficulty. The back nine actually seemed easier overall even though two of the three hardest holes on the course great you within the first three holes of the back. I really like the course and would go back. Pace of play was a bit of concern like so many of the Metropark courses., but our last couple holes moved pretty well.
Hinckley Hills Golf Course
Played On 08/15/2016Hilly and fun
It was challenging. Not the biggest fan of two par fives to start out, but we worked our way through it and the rest of the round blew by. There were no issues with pace of play which is right down my alley. I can't speak much to value because I got a golf now hot deal which was awesome. I also can't say too much about condition because we were smack in the middle of a drought. I don't really pay full price to go anywhere anymore, but if I got a deal I would certainly come back here.
Hinckley Hills Golf Course
Played On 08/08/2016Great day of golf
A buddy and myself golfed 18 here for 15 bucks plus fees. I had always seen the course on here and was hesitant because the rating seemed a little low. I am not a fan of two par 5's to start your round, but the course is lots of fun. Most of the courses in the area are dust bowls now, but considering the lack of rain we have had this course was ok. I am hopeful to come back again in the fall and experience the scenery here in another season. The hills and the greens offer a fun but playable challenge. I think this course should be rated higher. Considering there are courses on here that I know are not as nice that are rated much higher.
Thanks for the excellent review! We're thrilled that you found our course challenging but still fun to play. Please do come back in the fall! Our favorite time of year. Looking forward to seeing you soon!
Fox Creek Golf & Racquet Club

Now I like a challenge but I just found it kind of a drag that many greens were super elevated. It just seemed kind of rinky dink to me. I am about a 9 handicap but it just seemed like they tried to come up with ways to make the hole harder. I wasn't much of a fan. Also, I found the front desk staff to be less than cordial. There are just too many choices for good prices in this area to go back here.
Wicked Woods Golf Club

Very fun course pace of play is usually good and everyone seems pretty cool. It is hilly to the point it almost wears you out to walk up and down the greens on a hot and humid day and at times you wonder if the course is fair, but it is fun if you like a challenge. I could see it having the ability to frustrate higher handicappers. I would recommend giving it a shot.
Springvale Golf Club
Played On 08/20/2014Warm wet round
I purchased my round on GolfNow for 10 bucks for 18 holes. I was a little bummed out when I got to the course and found that they were going to stick me in with a threesome since I like to play by myself and I'm pretty quick. This is general practice at some courses and not at others depending on the traffic. I got lucky though when the fourth person showed up for the threesome and I got to play by myself. The starter was kind enough to let me go off the front nine. And also nice enough to let me skip ahead of the people who were on one when I made the turn. It took me about two hours and five minutes to play 18 holes. It was very wet
the night before but considering that the conditions were very nice on the course and the greens were still fast. I have played this course many times and always seen it as a good value for the money. In my opinion the signature hole is hole number 11. A long par five with lots of obstacles to get to the end. My only regret this round was that was the second hole I had to play I don't know if I was warmed up properly for that Challenge. But I played well enough not to lose a ball that made me happy. I don't see any reason why I wouldn't choose this course if you were in the area and wanted to play. I would not expect to regularly play 18 in under 3 1/2 hours since it is usually a very busy course.
Mallard Creek Golf Club - The Lakes Course
Played On 08/18/2014Not worth it
I used to go here often. The staff is generally unfriendly, the starters send people out with no regard to pace of play. They are likely to grunt at you if you ask them which course might be more crowded. I got a membership here last year and even though it seems like a good deal I would never do it again. Go elsewhere
Dorlon Golf Club
Played On 08/15/2014Good quick weekday 18
I played 18 in like 2.5 hours by myself. The people I ran into were all really friendly. The back nine gets to be more challenging. Trees hover over 13 and a wacky dogleg awaits at 14. I would certainly recommend rhis course for a fun round sometime if you haven't tried it yet.
Pheasant Run Golf Course

We got a very good deal on golf now to go to check out this course a favorite of my early golf days. I found the course to be much the way I remember it. First the on course experience. The front nine starts out pretty open and forgiving for most players and tightens up around hole 7. I enjoyed deciding what shot I wanted to make off the 7th and 8th tee. The back nine is much more open. With only a couple bodies of water to test you along the way. We have played twice in the last couple weeks and I shot about 6 strokes better on the back both times. In my opinion the front has a little more character. Both nines are as flat as an iron however it seems like the raised green was this developers thing and some on the back nine are raised enough you may consider 1 club up. Overall conditions weren't perfect, but that is certainly not meaning it was bad by any means. Cons there was little definition between the fairway and the rough and I found the greens to be super slow which was hard to get used to compared to many of the other places I played. On the plus side the soft greens lended a for gentle landing spots for 5 irons from a 185 yards out (a shot that does not have a prayer of sticking at mallard creek no matter how high you get it) this courses layout is fun and the pace is always pretty quick, also it is really hard to lose a ball here. Also, it was dry do roll outs tended to be longer than usual I'll let you decide if that's good or bad. I think it can be challenging enough for a very good golfer to enjoy yet you can take your beginner golf friend out and have a good time. I think their regular prices might be a bit high for the area and the course, but this course is worth checking out for a reasonable price.
