Highlands Reserve Golf Club
Played On 11/26/2022Great course for the price
For $40 with cart, you can't beat it. Took my sons and we played 18 holes in 3 1/2 hours on a Saturday 7:24 am tee time! Mostly open holes with some trees, brush and bunkers scattered around. I saw several reviews about the greens being recently re-sodded and it was true but the greens are starting to even out - not perfect but decent. They must have recently sprinkled sand on all greens in an attempt to even the greens because to me that was more of an issue than the uneven greens. Shot an 86 but left a few shots short due to slow greens. Overall playing at our pace with only a 4some in front of us and no one behind us was perfect. We pushed up on the 4some for the last three holes, but it didn't delay our game. Carts have an auto brake so no need to lock the brakes and they have a USB charger for your phone. Wish they had GPS, but just used a rangefinder and we were good to go!
Zigfield Troy Golf Range & Par 3

I took my young son. This is a great course for beginner players or to work on your short game. Course in pretty good shape, but fairly wide open, few bunkers and only one water hazard, hole 2. Nice driving range and ok putting green. Has a mini-golf next to course. Definitely a family place
Marquette Park Golf Course
Played On 05/03/2014Typical for chicago
This course has a long history. Used to be an 18 hole course, but now only 9. Has a range, but is on other side of park and no yardage signs. Course it self is full of patchy, dried out grass all over fairway and on some holes, goose droppings are everywhere, I mean everywhere!. Sand bunkers are non-existent, basically just a dirt hole. Greens are just ok, depends when you go and if they have watered or aerated lately. Layout could be a nice 9 yard course, but maintenance is severely lacking, but probably no money in the budget. Used to go here when first moved to Chicago, but there are much better places for comparable price. No golf house, but can buy drinks at starting closet.
I got a kick out of the review that said Marquette Park used to be an 18 hole course... LOL, not in his or my lifetime. Maybe not since the 30's definitely not in the last 60 years.
Palos Hills Golf Club
Played On 04/26/2014Great 9 hole course
This is a nice course nestled away from the beaten path. The course is both challenging and forgiving, based on which hole you are on. There are many trees lined along most holes and a stream that cuts the 2nd and 9th hole which create a blind shot. Great value for the money, EXCEPT the cart fees at $10 per person. Most walk anyway. Pace of play is usually good and the ranger will come around every once in awhile. No Beverage cart, but alcohol and other drinks available and club house.
Green Meadows Golf Course
Played On 8/17/2013quick 9
Coure was in good overall condition. Starts off with three 300+ yard holes followed by six short holes. All holes are pretty wide open. Only one hole has water hazard and a few holes have bunkers spread around. Pro shop is small and carts available. No range, but has 2 ok practice putting greens. Great value for the money.
