We decided to grab a last minute tee time at the PGA WEST Nicholas Tournament Course. We are so happy that we did. We played at the 4pm discounted tee time on a Friday. The course, pace, value, conditions, layout, etc were all great.

The Talking Stick Courses are fabulous. I highly recommend them both. I typically play over 150 rounds a year, so I obviously play a lot of courses.

The course is challenging with some extra room in the fairways and tough undulating greens. The course layout can be reasonably be seen and understood before your shot rather than afterward. I hate ah ha moments after the shot and driving up to my ball to see hidden features that I wish I knew about before my shot.

We have been playing Tanglewood for years. Unfortunately, it has deteriorated into a goat track. It should be a crime to let such a landmark course end up this way.
We played it about 3 months ago and it was in horrible shape. We decided to give it one last try yesterday and unfortunately it was in even worse shape.
The fairways vary from baked clay hard pan to casual water mush with plus balls. Hole #10 was one of the more memorable examples of this, with a great drive that plugged 2 inches below the ground in an isolated wetland in the middle of the fairway that was followed with a well hit wedge that bounced and rolled forever like the fairway had been paved.
The rough and fairways are dying with bare spots and weeds taking over the course.
The sand traps have no sand typically in many area, so take a drop or ruin an edge hitting of the exposed gravel in the traps.
You may not be able to get a tee into the tee box without using a hammer or a predrilled pilot hole.
The greens had been heavily watered at times and areas with resulting gross inconsistencies in speed, break, and ball behavior on chips and approach shots.
It appears that the course has not been fertilized, weeded, insect control, aerated in some time.
The worn, dated clubhouse is well, exactly that.
It looks like the plan is to sell or close it. A surprising strategy when most courses are still having record profitable years.
The staff seemed friendly enough, but we had no desire to be there anymore and will not return until reliable friends report that it is back to its former glory.
Some may think that I was a bit hard on the course with my comments, but given the poor conditions vs what the very good condition were in previous years, I think it was appropriate to be honest and report accordingly.

I have seen this course many time on our way to play Sawmill Creek, but have never played it. I elected to give it a try based on the reviews I saw on Golf Now and Google. Unfortunately, following their advice was a mistake. They must have a strong local following to prop up their reviews, because a four star rating is not warranted. I play four to five days a week and am very familiar with the courses and conditions in NEO.
The staff in the Proshop were friendly. I didn’t check out the putting green or range pasture.
The layout was odd and cramped in.
The greens were small, but rolled true and a reasonable speed given their size.
The fairways were frequently more like short rough and needed a mowing desperately.
The tee boxes were a bit beat up and worn.
No sand traps. Instead there are ample trees and water hazards.
The course’s score card shows a USGA Course and Slope Rating, but it will not show up in the GHIN application now, so perhaps it’s no longer current.
The pace of play on the back nine was stagnant, little or no movement. I waited 30-40 minutes per hole on # 12, 13, & 14 to tee off before ultimately deciding to skip the rest of the holes and leave. It simply wasn’t worth the wait. I don’t recommend playing it, if you enjoy a course with a good layout that is in good condition.

It’s good to see the work that Cedar Point/Fair has put into the course. Obviously, there is lots of work going on now and planned that is appreciated.

The course was unfit for play. It should not have been opened.

Golf Now doesn’t care about their customers. Frankly, they suck big time. I mad an unfortunate mistake and booked Friday instead of Wednesday. I tried to cancel it for a refund within 10 minutes of the error. They said no way. Big Corporate ownership with no customer service. They won’t even take a call. I went ahead and paid for Wednesday so I could play that day, but I have never felt so cheated. They should rebrand as Golf Jerks Now.

Fox Hollow is a great course.

Golf Now sucks. The peacock NBC takeover is disgusting. They rip off there customers. Stop using Golf Now.

The course was in great shape, especially considering it is March 25.

Valley of the Eagles is a challenging layout in good condition. There are issues with cart paths and off fairway conditions, but overall it’s a fun and challenging course to play. Go Play

I was expecting much more given the course ratings I saw before booking a tee time. This course is pretty bland and basic. I wish I had driven a bit further and played Maumee Bay. It’s apparent they have a strong local following, but the fairways are mostly weeds. The greens were slow. The staff was nice enough. I play based on course quality, unfortunately that was the part that was lacking.
