Mercer Oaks Golf Course - East Course
Played On 01/29/2024Nice staff, painful round
Stuck behind an etiquette-less K-pop 4-ball. Took 4.5 hours to walk. Loud and rude - did not fix ball marks, did not let faster groups play thru, slow as molasses in Antarctica. Lousy golfers to boot - were lasering pitch shots from right in front of the green. Never again...

Played On 11/16/2023Nice staff, painful round
Conditions awful - greens beat up, not cut nor rolled. Pace of play brutal (2.5 hrs for 9)
A deer pasture to knock a ball around on a good day - served its purpose...

Many interesting holes design wise but conditioning is rough - bunkers overgrown and/or not maintained, greens burned patches, rutted areas... Serious maintenance needed
Royal Oaks Golf Club
Played On 03/07/2016Better Days
Solid design, needs TLC. Given price point, attracts a fair number of "hackers" who need some etiquette - e.g., was on 17 green and group on 18 tee slices shot onto 17 green with nary a "fore". Painful to watch them hack up the course hole after hole...One and done.
Edgmont Country Club
Played On 06/17/2014Hard Times
As the golf recession continues unabated, another decent private course is on life support. Facilities and course are in dire need of investment; packed bunkers, ripped up tee boxes, weeds galore.... Greens are in passable shape for a private course but leave much to be desired. Sad to see but reality of our world - good luck to all involved.
Dyker Beach Golf Course
Played On 8/15/2013Historic but painful pace
Pleasant setting and design - days of bodies (vehicular or human) in the bunkers and fairways are gone. Decently maintained with clueless grounds crew - they roll greens as you try to putt! Pace of play is ugly. One of first groups off in the morning and it was still a 4.5 hr round. For those coming later, I shudder to think... Historic track I wanted to play - done and no desire to repeat.because of pace.
Red at Eisenhower Park Golf Course
Played On 8/15/2013BRUTAL pace of play
Decent design and decently maintained for a high-volume public track. However, clientele is abysmal in etiquette and staff couldn't care less about playing conditions. Will not play again, even if it were free. Any reason golf is dying, six hours????
