Chedoke Civic Golf Course - Martin
Played On 07/24/2020Very Cost Effective
There are definitely a few goofy holes here, and the layout can be a little confusing at times (be sure to use the scorecard to help navigate your way between holes), but for what you are paying, it's pretty tough to beat the value here - I would be more than happy to play here again.
Chedoke Civic Golf Course - Beddoe

Due to the extremely wet conditions we've had this Spring, a number of fairways have not been cut properly yet - if you're thinking of playing either of the Chedoke courses soon, you might want to let the temperature get a little warmer so it can dry out the course a bit. That being said, I'm looking forward to going back later this Summer.
Burlington Springs Golf Club
Played On 08/10/2016Course in fantastic shape
considering the type of summer we've had, the fairways, greens, and tee boxes were in incredible shape - the course has been taken extremely good care of.
Knollwood Golf Club - New
Played On 08/06/2016Narrow, sometimes unfair course layout
Very little room for error off the tee, and even if you hit a near-perfect shot you often end up with either an uneven lie or an obstructed shot into the green. Too many tee boxes are dangerously close to the previous hole's green (less than 20 feet away), and a number of blind shots either off the tee or into the green require you to be on high alert for wayward shots for much of the round.

Pretty good course, but don't play it if you or anyone in your group is wild off the tee or has trouble keeping it straight - it's built in the middle of a suburb and houses line the fairways on a number of holes.

The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and the course was in great shape. If you aren't a long hitter, be honest with yourself and play from the appropriate tees, or you'll be regretting it by the turn - it's a pretty long course by most weekend warrior's standards.

The course was in good shape, and the pace of play was very good, however work was being done on the course all afternoon during our round, and the workers rarely stopped while we were shooting - in one instance somebody started a chainsaw in the middle of my playing partner's back-swing... we also didn't see the drink cart until the 17th hole, though we had assumed because it was a weekday they may not be running one.

The course was pretty interesting - not long, but not easy, with some tricky shots depending on how well you do at keeping your ball in play. There were a few fairways where the grass was a little long for my liking, but overall a pretty good experience.

Tough course to walk, but good exercise if you're up for the challenge. The way some of the holes are situated in reference to the escarpment (and large elevation changes on the holes) can play tricks on your eyes when reading the greens.

We golfed on a very cold day, so that influenced the amount of golfers who showed up, however when we arrived the staff were extremely friendly, and gave us an additional spring discount in addition to our golfnow rate. Our round only took 3 and a half hours. The course was in good shape, but still a little wet - it's pretty challenging, but very fair.
Tyandaga Golf Course

I live around the corner from Tyandaga Golf Course, and have had a membership here in the past. My experiences have generally been positive, as the staff are usually very nice and there are some fantastic views of the Burlington skyline and GTA from near the top of the escarpment. The course usually starts the season in decent shape, however is not always up-kept well by the end of the Summer. Consistency across the greens has been an issue, as they vary greatly in speed and receptiveness over 18 holes (for example, hole #2's green is much faster, and far less receptive to approach shots than any of the other 18 holes), and the course is both very hilly and has a lot of blind shots, making it very easy to lose your ball even when it is in play (which is a big pet peeve of mine). You will need to stay be wary of wayward shots from other groups between holes during the round, as there are many holes where fairways/greens/tee boxes run parallel to each other in close proximity, and while on holes as well, due to blind tee-shots to landing areas where you can't always see the group ahead of you. However, for the price you pay to play here, it's tough to complain too much about these issues, as it is one of the better rates in the area. That being said, pace of play is a huge issue here, as they send groups off in intervals of time much too close to each other, and the marshals don't do a great job of regulating pace of play (or enforcing rules/etiquette) once groups are on the course. If you tee off early enough you can play at a somewhat reasonable pace, however if you tee off during peak hours by prepared for an excruciating test of your patience.
