Pike Fold Golf Club
Played On 12/01/2018Fantastic course
The course is advertised as an all year round, no temp greens course. And you can see why, as the greens were immaculate. Truly some of, if not the best greens I've played all year.
The course itself provides challenge after challenge, with undulations, water and well placed bunkers to test your game. Not overly long, and with ability to open your shoulders on some of the holes, it's still a fun course to play.
New Mills Golf Club

An absolutely cracking course. One when you play, you'll want to play again and again, if not to just enjoy the stunning scenery. Yet the course itself is a superb test of golf. All levels will get something from the course as it has varying challenges throughout. Some parts you can open your shoulders and get the driver out, other parts you'll need to think carefully about which club to use.
I've played New Mills quite a few times now and would recommend it to anyone.
Turton Golf Club

A true mixture of parkland and moorland golf. Spectacular scenery over Bolton, Manchester and beyond.
Right from the first hole, you are challenged to meet this courses many stunning holes. Make sure you bring your A game, because throughout you're going to be tested using the full range of your clubs.
Each hole is totally different to the next, which has you wondering and marvelling at the views, the course condition, which was superb, and the you'll need to play to post a decent score.
It was my first time playing the course and the professional, the staff and other members couldn't have been more welcoming. A true gem and one myself and my playing partner will be back to, again and again.
Thank you to all who have, and did work hard to provide us with a brilliant days golf, plus a long cold beer in the 19th.
Disley Golf Club
Played On 04/29/2018Fantastic course
Disley has always been a varied and challenging course. It's rolling landscape giving amazing views over the Derbyshire hills, are the reason there is such a difference between each hole.
It's not overly hilly, yet the natural nature of the course, uses every rise to keep you thinking of the next shot. When you reach the 15th with your well deserved score, take a moment to turn round and look at the stunning countryside before you. All you have do then, is hit the golf ball up to the relatively short but tricky par three.
All round a fantastic course to get you thinking of how score well. And one to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
Prestwich Golf Club
Played On 04/14/2018A little tester
More care needed on this relatively short course than you might think. Certainly any wayward tee shots are punished by well placed bunkers, tress lined fairways and the general lie of the rolling course. It's definitely a course to tempt you to improve your score on, and one I'll be back to play again. Plus the 19th offers you a well deserved cooling drink to mull over, just how you didn't manage to beat your handicap.....
Manchester Golf Club
Played On 10/03/2017Fantastic course
First time playing Manchester Golf Club, and what a superbly set out golf course. From hole one right through to the eighteenth there are challenges to test the best golfers. Yet the course is forgiving enough to accept the higher handicappers. The tee's, greens and fairways were in fabulous condition, and the bunkers being some of the best kept, that I've played from. No two holes looked, played or challenged your game the same, which made for very interesting fun round of golf. All round a superb club and course to enjoy a relaxing days golf.
Marple Golf Club
Played On 09/26/2017Small course, but tough challenge
Although the course is relatively short in length, it's still a tough challenge to all levels of golfer. There isn't a single hole that resembles another, and each overall offers you a new chance to use your full bag. There are some risk and reward holes, such as the short par 4's, 5 &8. The par 3 15th which measures 228 yards (Lay up, or go for it). The 16th which you can drive onto the fairway, but risk hitting into tree's. And lastly the challenging the par five 18th which is pretty much uphill all the way, making the 515 yards play a lot longer.
All together with some beautiful scenery over Manchester, it's a fun, yet true test for anyone's golf. And don't forget to take a drink afterwards in the comfortable 19th.
Disley Golf Club

The course offers something for all levels and certainly tests your bag completely. There are chances to score well on the shorter par fours, and throughout you get opportunities to open your shoulders. Great for those who love challenge their driving skills. The greens were in fabulous condition and played as well as I've ever seen them. In all a fantastic morning of golf.
Werneth Low Golf Club
Played On 04/26/2017Challenging golf course
At any time of year this golf course is a challenge. Although there are only twelve actual greens, playing off different tee's for the other six holes, really changes those holes to being entirely different set ups. It's a challenging course which needs good course management, and the correct choice of club on any particular day.
The scenery on the course is as good as you'll find anywhere in and around Cheshire and Manchester. Having spectacular views over Manchester, Cheshire and over to Derbyshire.
A buggy could be required if you're not to good on your pins, as some sections of the course are hilly. But those hills are the reason for the stunning views. The grounds staff and the club staff all work hard to ensure a great days golf can be had by anyone visiting this golf course. All round the course is a true test of golf for all levels, and a real treat to play on a beautiful sunny day, as in the day we played.
Hazel Grove Golf Club
Played On 10/31/2016Hazel Grove
On arrival I was informed that work was being carried out on the greens, which limited my round to 12 holes. Of the holes I did play, the greens were in good condition, but off fairway some holes were quite wet. The course is well set out, and relatively flat, with some very challenging holes. Hope to complete a full round there soon.
Mellor & Townscliffe Golf Club
Played On 10/08/2016Mellor & Townscliffe
Great course, with lots of challenges around the whole course. Played just after 2pm and quickly caught up a two ball. It was clear at least one (The younger) of them was a high handicapper, as he really struggled to hit any shots at all. On each hole from the second, until I finally gave up on the 7th, I had to wait a long long time to tee off. It took an hour and forty minutes to play those seven holes, without them once asking me to play through.
Response to Mashie
All courses in the area and further afield would have been affected by the long period dry weather. You'll se I didn't comment on the condition, but rather the experience of playing a stunning course. I've played much higher cost courses, which have been devastated even more so by the summer drought. My opinion still stands, it's a fantastic course to experience a true test of golf, and to enjoy the stunning vista's which surround the whole course.
I played this course in July and it was in very poor condition. I cannot see any way it could have recovered in 2 weeks. Therefore I have to question the rating in the post from Wheelygolfer.
You must have played a different course to me. When I played it in July the members apologiesed for the poor condition of the course and it would not have recovered in the meantime.
