Mountain View Golf Club
Played On 09/08/2015Stay focused to score!
Second round here, last played a couple of years ago. This is a fairly hilly course, so it gives you're legs a good workout. Pleasantly surprised by the course conditions overall, though the fairways have more humps and bumps than any course around! Greens were pretty quick, and some have almost too much slope for the speed, pay attention to the break! Easy to get off line if you lose focus from tee to green. Staff was friendly, weather perfect.
Quail Valley Golf Course
Played On 09/02/2015Nice greens
Recent rain softened up the ground a bit this week. Greens were fast and pretty smooth today, I wouldn't call them 'undulating'- but there is plenty of break to pay attention to. The breeze kept us on our toes due to changing direction, seemed to be in our face quite often. Beautiful day to play golf! Always enjoy this course.
Heron Lakes Golf Club - Greenback Course
Played On 08/03/2015Room for improvement
I do enjoy playing this course, but…too many players do not repair ball marks on greens(and many of those who do are making a messy repair), and too many players do not rake bunkers. Considering tees two factors, the course still plays pretty well, and is fun to play.
OGA Golf Course
Played On 06/26/2015Firm and fast
The course is in great shape with firm, fast conditions tee to green. Greens rolling fast and true. Pace was a bit slow, maybe due to the heat? Only saw the cart girl once-wish she came by more often, as there are no water stations on holes 10 through 14, and temp was in the high 90's. Glad we had some breeze! One of the nicer courses in the area.
The Reserve Vineyards & Golf Club - South Course
Played On 06/15/2015Challenging, but fair
I found this course to be a very good challenge, with lots of strategically placed bunkers, but it plays fair, with plenty of room once you know where to go. It's a very pretty course, and very walkable. Tees and fairways are in very good condition, greens are smooth and fast. Sand was a bit heavy from watering, but in very good shape. If you can avoid bunkers and stay in the short grass, you should score well here. The clubhouse, and overall facility is very nice, and... from pro-shop, to cart girl, to cart return, the staff was friendly and helpful. I had a fun round and a good Hot Deal rate from Golf Now, hope to play again soon.
Broadmoor Golf Course
Played On 06/04/2015It is what it is
Enjoyed playing this course for the first time. I like the laid back feel of it, but, I have heard raves about how the greens are so great….they were good, not great.
The 10th is a bit confusing, with one green for the ladies, and another for men…they should have a sign to indicate this on the tee box. Definitely a few good challenging holes, no doubt it will be easier next time around, now that I know where to go on each hole.It was a bit strange to have our tickets checked at the snack shack on the way to the 2nd tee, vs traditional starter at 1st tee. Glad I played it, and hope to play it again soon!
Skamania Lodge - The Gorge 9
Played On 05/17/2015Straight is great!
Nice course and setting in the gorge. Hilly, with blind shots on several holes, cart recommended. Not a long course, but demands accuracy off tee, with little chance to find shots that find the un-mowed areas. Straight is great here! Greens in nice condition, though not fast. Staff very friendly.
The Reserve Vineyards & Golf Club - North Course
Played On 02/20/2015Slow round, but still fun!
First time at the Reserve for me, had a great coupon deal from GolfNow. weather great for Feb 20- mostly sunny, high 50's and calm. Paired up with a mixed group, a beginner and two others of average skills….all had a fun and easy going attitude, so we all had a fun day, though slow for me at 5 hours. A foursome should play here in 3.5 to 4 hours.Tee to green was in very good shape for winter, with only a few soggy spots, though the roughs were quite ragged and very soggy…tough to get a clean shot out of.We had carts, 90 degrees thankfully. Looks like this course would be fun to walk, as long as it's not too wet. It's pretty straightforward with some small greens, and a few hidden hazards could add strokes, but if you hit straight, no issues. I would like to come back in prime season.
Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club - Ghost Creek Course
Played On 05/09/2014Hope to come back soon.
First time playing here. Very nice course, with a very walkable layout. This course costs much more $ than average. We had a deal that included a cart, but carts must stay on path only…I'd walk next time. Tee to greens in very nice condition, though quite lush with thick rough... Very well maintained. Cool temps, showers off and on made it a soggy day, and some breezy holes added to our challenges. The slow group ahead had us waiting on almost every hole, should play easily in under 4 hours... but it was still a fun round at a very good course. Will definitely be back..
Glaze Meadow at Black Butte Ranch
Played On 04/28/2014A fine walk!
Early season conditions…fairly large greens were slow and bumpy, but ok. Course is very fair, and very well suited to walking. Water in play on a few holes on front nine. Nice views of the mountains on several holes. We played at our own relaxed pace, with no one in front or behind, in about 3.5 hours. Facility is modest, but nice. Staff was very friendly. I look forward to playing here again.
Eagle Crest Resort - Ridge Course
Played On 03/13/2014Very good course
Played the Ridge for the 1st time…nice layout for walking, course in very good shape for March.Greens were smooth, and reasonably fast. Plenty of interest and challenge for most players. Some nice views, and peaceful environment. Pro shop staff and starter were very courteous.
Eagle Crest Resort - Challenge Course
Played On 03/08/2014Fun short course
My wife and I played here for the 2nd time, course in decent shape, only 2 hrs 50 minutes walking…we caught up to the foursome ahead of us at the 9th, which slowed us down a bit, but pace was good. Lots of par 3's and short par 4's…fun round!
Widgi Creek Golf Club
Played On 11/25/2013Nice, very walkable layout.
Booked a hot deal time, very good rate, but…when I arrived I found they had switched to temporary greens, and two holes were closed to play :( which I was not expecting. Played anyway, paired up with two very nice players who knew the course well…we had a fun round on a very nice, mild and sunny late November afternoon. The course does not have distant views of mountains, etc, but is very pretty, being routed through tall pines with water coming into play on several holes. I felt like it would be a good challenge playing regulation tee to green golf. Very well maintained condition, greens looked terrific, and are well protected with bunkering. This is a very walkable course. Homes line many fairways, but are set back at reasonable distances. Look forward to playing again when the entire course is open!
River's Edge Golf Course
Played On 11/6/2013Big elevation changes!
My wife and I played mid day, weekday, carrying and walking in about 3.5 hrs . Found the course plenty challenging, with some interesting holes...some holes require accuracy off tee as well as approach shots(and be careful on short puts too!)...some have very small greens...several blind shots...some very cool elevation changes as well! Fun and challenging! We both felt the greens need more attention, but considering it IS November, we give a pass on that. If you walk this course, you'll get a good workout(glad we did walk it) due to elevation changes and some distance between tees and greens. Very nice views from the high points.
This course is in reasonably good condition, though far from pristine...but unless you get a 'Hot Deal' it seems a bit over priced(for regular rates). We will definitely play again, had a fun round!
King City Golf Course
Played On 10/25/2013Short and sweet
Second time playing here...this is a fairly easy short course, flat terrain, easy to walk, no blind shots, friendly staff. Greens have subtle breaks, and were quite fast this time requiring focus to avoid missing an easy par putt! (1st time I played here was right after aeration, and greens were slow.) Course is pretty well maintained, relaxed pace of play is good at about 1.5 hours per 9.
Chehalem Glenn Golf Club
Played On 10/21/2013Nice course!
1st time playing here, the course is very well maintained. Greens were recently aerated, and were a bit bumpy. Very pretty, scenic back nine. Look forward to playing here again soon.
RedTail Golf Center
Played On 10/8/2013Good condition
Great deal on Golf Now the day my wife and I played...almost no one on the course due to rainy forecast, but only a couple of light, brief showers came through...so it was a quiet, relaxed, walking round. We took our time, and still finished in 3:50.
Considering all the rain last week, the course was soft, but not as wet as I expected. This is one of the few area courses that have not aerated greens in the past week...greens , fairways, and tees were in nice shape, although there are a few greens under repair to their front section. Bunkers were nicely raked and there was no standing water anywhere. This is a pretty course, plenty of open space, with most holes having no homes lining the fairways.
Stonecreek Golf Club
Played On 9/10/2013I like it!
My 2nd round here this year.
Faster greens than most local courses. Quite a few ball marks and divots, but greens and fairways in very good condition.
Staff is courteous, and start was on-time on a busy, warm weekday early afternoon. Ranger even came around with an ice water cooler for refills.
Most holes have plenty of room for missed fairway drives, though it is a bit tighter on the back nine.
I will definitely be back!
Pace could be a bit faster, our 4-some was 4.5 hrs...should have been no more than 4.
I would say it's better than average course and value for $.
Heron Lakes Golf Club - Great Blue Course
Played On 9/7/2013Nice, but...
Nice course, easy to walk. Greens are plenty big, but need more attention from players fixing their ballmarks, plenty of bumps on the greens make for lost strokes. Plenty of room on the fairways, which were in good condition overall. Sand in bunkers quite heavy and wet. I'm guessing there was heavy rain in the past week.
Pace felt a lot slower than it was, but this course could easily be played in 3.5 hours without rushing, if players would just pick up the pace between shots. Freight train line is alongside course, and there was an extremely long , slow train rumbling and squealing by almost the entire back nine, could be distracting to some players.
East at Glendoveer Golf Course
Played On 6/29/2013Fun, but slow
Pretty parklike course with lots of tall pines lining most holes.
Easy to find stray shots, though lots of players in carts criss-crossing holes looking for errant shots is very distracting.
Fairways ok (recently aerated)but plenty of brown patches.
Greens ok but far from excellent condition. Bunker sand ok, not too many...mostly around the greens.
Slow front nine, back was faster...I guess there are lots of 9-holers.
Fun overall, but I wouldn't rush back...good deal with 'Hot Deal' pricing if you have time and just want to get out to swing.
Thanks for the tip on walking versus cart. Just made a tee time for 5/17, first time playing there, and due to your comments we will be walking and saving $16 x 2. I would be annoyed if I paid for cart only to find out it's path only. I imagine it's the type of course that when it's path only, there is no benefit to a cart. Cheers!
