Nice designed but poorly maintained.

This Rees Jones layout is a challenge. Probably was great years ago. The greens were very bumpy and slow for Bermuda. Hazards were poor. Hadn’t been maintained and made course look like a cheap muni. Practice area was embarrassing. I always look forward to golf in the Myrtle Beach area and try to play different courses. I can’t recommend this course as a must play. It’s a good design but needs some TLC to make it a must play. I also played World Tour , Avocet, The Surf Club, and Eagle Nest. Of all of those, Avocet is a must play and best maintained.

Usually a good course to play

I have played Kiskiack GC many times and have always enjoyed my round. I would usually recommend play here to anyone visiting the Williamsburg area, but my last two visits have turned me off. Last fall, I played a five hour run and only finished 15 holes. It was midday and chalked it up to a busy with lots of high handicappers. but yesterday I played a five hour round with temperatures in upper forties. Again, I wasn't in a hurry, but I am use to a four hour or less round while walking. The one thing thing that really irritated me was to pay for my round, hit some balls, putt, and be ready to play and then have a starter say cart path only with punched greens. That should have been told to me the minute I walked into the pro shop and went to pay the fees. That's the kind of treatment that tells me to warn others to be careful.

Decent 27 hole layout

Course is a challenge and length makes you use every club in bag. Rough needs better maintenance. Greens were smooth and fast. Unfortunately, not everyone who plays it feels they need to repair ball marks. Fees were pricey for 18, but the $12 fee to play 27 made it worthwhile.Range has no lenght place to warmup with the driver. Can only warm up with short irons.
