Bear Creek Golf Club - West Course
Played On 09/17/2022Buggy’s are shameful
The Fairways are in pretty good shape, Greens are decent probably 7.5/10
The Carts need addressing though. I played with a Family of 3 with they had 2 carts and I had my own. The Dad’s cart popped the drive belt on the 15th Fairway, luckily he jumped in with me and we left the buggy in the Fairway. Lots of bad tires, bad suspensions, bad brakes, parking brakes that won’t set, engines and clutches are “jerky, this is a Major issue IMO. Lastly, you have to tune out 747’s taking off from the airport which is impossible! It’s also too pricey on weekends for the inconveniences.
My 2 Cents, you did ask…
Whitestone Golf Course
Played On 12/11/2016Greens need help
Luckily, we only paid $21 instead of the usual $36. The greens had patches of renegade grass growing in them. My buddy and I resorted to playing "in the leather" rules for putting, none were going to fall. Otherwise, it was OK, slow players in front of us refused to wave us past, should have a marshall to help with this. NO CART girl!

This Course is just OK for me but not worth the trip from Fort Worth where I live. I go there to meet my golf buddy that lives in Waxahachie. The boat noise from the Lake is distracting most of the time. You can hear people yelling on the lake too. Lots of gnats, and flying insects, bring the OFF! If you live nearby then this is your go to, but it's not mine...
Hills at Pecan Valley Municipal Golf Course
Played On 06/11/2016Just So-So
This is the sister course to the River Course, which I have not played but it can be seen from the entry road and looks like it is in much better shape than the Hills. Several Greens were under "maintenance", was aggravating as it messed up my approach strategy. All in all, it's a good value I suppose.
Rockwood Golf Course
Played On 07/12/2014Under renovations
Because of it's location, coupled with the First Tee activities there, it does get crowded. Holes, 1,2,4,8 have temporary Greens right now and the holes play about 15-20 yards short. My partner and I decided to just play "in the leather" on these holes because putting is a none issue because of the longer bladed grass on the temp. Green. The price is reasonable mainly because of the temp Greens now. However, it would be nice if Golfnow could get info like this from the courses as I just don't like playing temp. Greens.
Glen Garden Golf & Country Club
Played On 4/7/2013Spirit of Ben
This has become my favorite course in Fort Worth; the staff are great, the course is always maintained and very user friendly and I swear sometimes when you sink that 20 foot putt or chip in for birdie you can feel old Ben Hogan's Spirit there. Great job Glen Garden!
Mansfield National Golf Club
Played On 2/18/2013Ball washers worked!
The day we played the wind was blowing at 30+ mph so it was not the most conducive weather for a round but I enjoyed playing the course, it was on my level challenge wise and all the ball washers worked and had soap in them, seems to be a premium now at most courses. All in all, I would go back, would like to see some better online deals.
Lost Creek Golf Course
Played On 2/10/2013Lots of Potential
If the Management would focus a little more on course maintenance, it would be a decent course. The only reason we played it was because I found a discount deal, I would not play this course at full price, it's just not very appeasing in the shape it's in. Several of the ball washers did not have brushes inside them and what I did not understand was why the Marshall asked me and my partner to "peddle" a little faster when we were crawling up the twosome in front of us backside all round, there was no way to play any faster, only took a glance to see that, which he failed to do.

I drove out to this course from Fort Worth on a Saturday morning and it took a little over an hour from downtown. This course in my opinion is one for a 10 handicapper or less. 10-12 of the tee boxes face into elevated "blind" fairways that if it's your first time playing there, you have no idea what's beyond the crest of the fairway which makes you out guess your drive and can lead to trouble. I wish I would have went in the Spring, I'm sure it's beautiful, but in the winter the fairways are just brown carpet, water runoff in places made the fairway unplayable, leading to my last observation, LOTS of WATER, take plenty of balls, you will lose a few here.
Thanks so much for playing at Cleburne Golf Links! We hope you had a good round despite some of the noise off the lake. Thank you for taking the time to review. Come back sometime soon!
