Good Value for Good Track

After many years being close, we thought we'd try it after opening since the fees were very low. Overall, I'd consider the condition of the course spotty. There are bare spots on fairways and a few tee boxes but the greens were all in very good shape aside from minimal weeds on a handful of green. The layout is challenging but fair if you stay out of trouble. It would be helpful to have some yardage markers (200, 150 & 100) to start and then tag the sprinklers later. I will definitely be back soon since it's the best deal in the area.

Fun Layout

First time playing this course and it was very enjoyable. The only thing I would have liked was if the sprinkler heads were tagged for yardage. The course has some elevation changes on some holes and some fairways slope from right to left so you play the hill on your drives. Overall conditions from tee box to green were good on most holes. I will plan on returning again soon.

Good Value

Technically, I played the course many years ago before new ownership/name change but forgot everything about the previous visit. When we arrived the pro shop staff was very friendly and upfront about the condition of the course. It has some really good spots and some other spots like a few tee boxes that need help but for the fee we paid, it was fine. I had not played in awhile so it was just a chance to get out and hit the ball around. The greens were decent and most rolled fairly well. My biggest issue was the #1 handicap hole that has an excessively long carry over a marshy, grassy, I don't know what else area. We drove down the fairway to see how ridiculous it was, hit way right of everything and still had to carry a portion of the hazard on second shot. Next time I'll hit shag balls on that hole. Give the track a try but don't have high expectations about everything yet. Give it some time to get better.

Great Condition and Great Layout

We wanted to play Christmas afternoon but in the Orlando area, there weren't many places open with reasonable greens fees and showing good reviews from recent play so we decided to drive 40 minutes from Orlando to Mission Inn. It did not disappoint. From the welcoming staff outside who brought us our golf cart to the pro shop staff, everyone was friendly and outgoing. We chose El Campeon and took on the challenge. It's not super difficult but with about 4 forced carries to greens, elevation changes on several holes and undulating greens, it probably would help if I played the course a few time recently to refresh my memory. For the most part, all the tee boxes were in good shape, the greens were excellent and the fairways were lush. I will definitely be back again soon and I would highly recommend it to any mid to high level golfer.

Local Knowledge Would Help

The course was in good condition for the time of year. I will definitely go back once things get a bit greener from warmer weather. The layout is challenging with a few holes being extra challenging but if you played from the tips, it would be a different story. It was a little frustrating that the sprinkler heads weren't tagged with yardage. Thankfully, one of the others in my group had a handheld GPS which helped. We were told it would take 4.5-5 hours to play and we finished in just under 5 hours. If someone from our group had played the course before, we may have played a bit faster. Looking forward to returning though.

Worth Another Try

The course was in pretty good shape even though it's not over-seeded too well. Everywhere was very dry with the exception of a few low lying spots where the fairways were soft. The greens were very hard and unforgiving which resulted in many long puts. The layout is challenging but the yardage markings were hard to find. You can tell it was private at one time because most semi-private and public courses are marked better.

Worth Playing Again

I took advantage of the OCR rate of $49 and it was well worth the price. The course conditions are fantastic, greens rolled true and there were just enough hazards to make it interesting. Fairways are wide so grip it and rip it. The only minor issue was finding #16 tee box. There needs to be some signage when you leave #15 green to direct you the right way. As you approach #15 green, the 16th tee box is to your right about 100 yards away from the green. A little confusing but we found it.

Great Course But A Little Slow

This was our third time playing this course. Just like the other times we played, the course condition was fantastic. Tee boxes are well grown, fairways were lush and the greens were in great condition as well. The only bad part about the round was that it was slow. Although we played in a twosome, the foursome ahead of us were very slow and appeared not to care as several times they took practice putts after everyone putted out. The need to play "ready golf" to speed things up. Unfortunately, there were no rangers on the course to check pace of play so we were stuck waiting on almost every shot making the round much longer than necessary. We'll be back because it's a great course.

Interesting Layout

When I booked my tee time online, there's was no indication the greens had been recently aerified which wasn't a good way to start the round. Surprisingly the greens rolled even with very few bumps but they were fast. The layout of the course is an interesting change for a central Florida course giving you shots from elevated tees and up to elevated greens. Several blind shots and a couple of tricked-out holes where you have to hit your drive to specific target area and then carry over a hazard. No water hazards which was another nice change. Not an overly challenging course but I plan to return when the greens are grown-in.

Worth a Try

Living in Orlando for 15 years, played many courses in and around the area but never tried Dubsdread because I thought it wouldn't be challenging and in years past, I heard the condition of the course wasn't good. Was pleasantly surprised when I finally gave it a try. It was challenging and in great condition. With the exception of a few tee boxes, over-all the course condition was as good any higher priced options I've played in the past. We teed off around 8am and by the time we putted out on 18, the place was hopping and the restaurant was busy too. I had a fantastic burger.

Good Course for Out of Towners

I live locally so I have plenty of options to choose from but for out of towners visiting, it's a good choice. The course condition was really good, the greens rolled true and from tee to green, I didn't have any complaints. Two things that are missing that would be a good addition include trash cans and ball washers. I picked-up two styrofoam cups and 5 candy/energy bar wrappers. There could also be more drinking water stations so next time I'll bring a bottle.
