nice course. even better service.

we played this course on what must have been one of the windiest days i have experienced. we stuttured through the front nine and was getting blown around. ball wasnt holding greens. after the nine we gave up. we went back to the clubhouse and explained that we decided to go for a scenic drive to the red rocks instead. they hadnt shut the course and as far as we could tell we were the only ones that were quitting. we had gotten a very cheap rate on golf now so wasnt too worried about not getting my moneys worth. so it came as a pleasant surprise when the receptionist asked us to come back another day and play 18 again for free. of course we didnt turn it down and was so glad we came back on a calm sunny day.had my best round ever . course is in immaculate conditon. fairways are generous. the only thing that can trick you up is the greens. lightning fast.food in the clubhouse was great. ive played alot of the vegas courses and this is the best of the affordable ones.

a nice change from the desert courses, conveniently located near the strip

we have played many of the golf courses in and around las vegas and this one was a pleasant surprise.its very close to the strip down tropicana ave so its easy to find. staff are friendly .the course is in great condition and not overly hard.as a 6 handicapper i played off the back tees and didnt feel out of my depth.the lakes nine is defianetly the more interesting 9.it has a more parklands feel about it than your usual desert target golf.certanly a much better option than some others around the vegas area

great course with some of the best surrounding views of the vegas area.

this was a last minute booking and i wasnt expecting much but in the end i found it to be my most enjoyable round of golf of our vacation.maybe it had to do with the fact i shot my best round and also we had great company with a a couple of locals but also i think it had to do with the views.since the course is slightly elevated you get views of the strip as well as the surrounding hills around lake mead area.course conditon was great.fast greens but receptive.for a high level golfer eg 4 handicap and below it might seem a little short and broad. certanly a course to shoot your best score.my only grumble would be the pace of play mainly because it seems to be a popular course for the retired seniors.other than that this is a course i would play over and over if i lived in las vegas.its a bit of drive from the strip.maybe 30 minutes. but i suggest on the way you stop off on eastern ave and have breakfast at crepe expectations.

my favourite course n the st george area

this is a great course to play especially if its windy which is often is in this area.its down in a canyon so more sheltered than if you were at sandhollow or ledges.i prefer this course to some others in this area because overall the holes are interesting.where at sandhollow the back nine is wow but the front nine boring.same thing at ledges except the opposite. sky mountain has the best clubhouse view but the course itself is not interesting.

if you lived in mesquite, this would be the one you play over and over again.

firstly the negatives.i didnt like the greens.dont bother bringing a divot repairer.you wont need it.i like fast greens but they must be receptive.these greens give you no check at all.so get used to chip and run.
now the positves.great layout. especially the front 9.its a more playable version of wolfcreek and alot cheaper.the staff are very friendly.i forgot my sand wedge on the practise green and they brought it out to me on the ist hole.you probably need to play it a couple of times to get to know where you can miss and which club to hit.a few blind shots .we were lucky they paired us up with a local that was helpful with tips.count your blessings if you are lucky enough to be paired up with darwin.
i have been through mesquite and played wolfcreek many times and have always raved about that course but this time around i felt that conestoga had a more upbeat feel about it.this time around at wolfcreek the greens were rubbish and the staff were just going through the motions almost to the point where they dont care.unfortuantly it seems wolfcreek is going downhill and i think conestoga are doing all the right things( except the hard greens).a must play in mesquite.

defianetly the best course in the laughlin area.

this course doesnt have huge canyons to hit over.no gimmicky island par 3s.its flat. quite easy.and yet somehow has great character and a real joy to play.the fairways are lush and theres alot of wildlife around.and great views of the surrounding mountains.some of the bumkers could do with a little more sand but at least they have sand unlike laughlin ranch that is just full of rocks.this is a nice course that is very friendly to the beginner but still testing enough for the the better players.

the golf course is nice.shame it took 6 hours to play.

this is a tough one to review because the golf course itself is actually really good.i still think mojave resort has more character but both courses are fine.my problem is with the staff. we booked online 2 weeks before.we show up and pay in the clubhouse and drive down to the practice area where the starter is.we look around and theres people everywhere. we ask the starter whats going on and aparently theres a pro/am tournament( from what i could tell some very average pros and very below average ams).so we had to wait well beyond our start time for this tournament of 8 flights with some 5 and 6 balls to get underway and eventually we finished 6 hours later after watching these torunament players spend eternity( at least it felt ike it) hitting out of rock canyons.the amatuers were gambling with each other so there were no drops given.one par 3 was backed up so much that we waited 25 minutes to play. the marshall wasnt about to tell these guys to speed up so we just had to accept it.
after the round the other 2 in our flight went up to complain and they didnt seem to care.
i have no problem with clubs running tournaments but they should inform you before you pay.at least then you have the option of going somehwere else .and the marshalls should keep the pace of play going regardless of tournament or social.
mojave resort is a more interesting course anyway so i wont be coming back.

with so many other nice course around the vegas area.im not sure why anyone would play this one.

we were very dissapointed with this course.we played many other courses in the vegas area and found this one to be rather boring and very short. it is quite a tight course but if you are a single figure handicap then you will be hitting driver and chipping a sand wedge most of the day.theres just no way you can justify paying $99 for here when you could get on a much nicer course like spanish trails or tuscany for $70. the condition of the course is great.no complaints there. just too short.comparing this to pinehurst is quite frankly a insult to the former.

this really is a secret hideout

if you are passing through monticello on your way to the amazing national parks as i was ,then a stopoff here is a must.on a golf trip back in 2010 i had played all the usual golf places in vegas and st george and thought i might as well get 9 holes in passing through monticello.as it turns out it was my most memorable 9 holes of my golf trip.the only regret is i didnt have time to get in a full 18.i think i payed like $20 and i was met with amazing wildlife with deer and rabbits everywhere.its a cool experience to have a deer stand on the tee box with you while you tee off.the course is very interesting with alot of elevation changes.after all the desert layouts eleswhere it was a nice change to have greenery all over the place.anywhere else in the world this would be a wildlife park. i cant believe they dont charge more.
