When hearing about Horseshoe bay I always expected something a lot different than this course. My experience started off really good. I thought I was in for a treat with how nice the area around the clubhouse was. Than you start off playing the actual course and it goes slightly down hill from there. This course is very tight and honestly too tight. Too many holes if you barley miss it leaves you OB. The greens were also not holding anything and were very small on top of this. What leaves you coming back are the views and the overall condition of the course. Beyond the greens not holding approach shots everything was fine for the conditions. Also holes like 4 (Island green) and 6 (beautifully short par 4) leave you coming back. But other holes were just stupid and it felt like they were just squeezed in there to fit homes around it. Overall I would say for how much money it is to stay at the resort, just go somewhere else.

I just became a member out at sonterra a few days ago and this was my first time playing it. I really liked the course and was honestly surprised by how nice it is. The layout is unique for every hole on the North Course. There are elevated greens with a lot of slope and they run quick. The bunkers are definitely taken care of. If your looking a club in northern San Antonio definitely check sonterra out.

The back nice of this course made me feel like I was playing on a PGA tour course. Perfect layout which is normally the number one thing I dislike about any course. You can play for a price that's unfair to the course in the afternoon, that's how cheap it is. Definitely play here.

I've played many golf courses and these greens are definitely one of the best if not the best greens I have ever played on. The layout is very good. The pace of play can't be beat. Overall a very nice course.

Just a very average course. Nothing too speacial.

This course was fun. Very nice greens, fairways, tee boxes and bunkers. You couldn't find a flaw in the landscaping and the clubhouse was amazing. It was something speacial being a golf fan on that course.

THE PICTURES LIE!!!

The pictures make this course out to be a top of the line course. When I got to the first tee box I thought "I hope the rest of the holes arnt like this" and they were. The course is only 6,100 yds from the tips and is one of the toughest courses you'll ever play in a bad way. It's way too narrow and off two tee boxes I had to play punch shots just to get the ball under the trees. The tee boxes were positioned weird and one hole didn't even have a gold tee box witch is what I was playing. The greens were far from perfect. I will say the view was great and the staff was friendly. Other than that, it was not a good course.

This was the first course I played on our week vacation in Jacksonville. It was a surprise to me that they weren't charging more because the greens were flawless and the grass was cut perfectly. They also give you free lunch with the round. Definitely play here. Overall great course.
